I am going to Fuerteventura this weekend and I am thinking of renting a car for the first time in my life.
Is there anything I need to know so I won’t get scammed? I have read about it and I am thinking of renting for Cicar directly from the airport.

In a bit more than a week we're off to Fuerteventura for the first time. I'm a single dad with 2 daughters, 18 and 15. We're staying just south of the airport at an all inclusive resort.
On our to do list is visiting the zoo, hiking a volcano (which one?) and maybe hit a kart track. The girls obviously love to shop and go to the beach. Thinking about booking a snorkeling tour, is it worth it?
We have booked a small rental car, unfortunately an SUV type was not available. Will this limit us in visiting certain areas?
Looking for tips on beaches and cute towns and maybe some local markets? Visiting from thursday to thursday.

Today 4oct 2026 our baby backpack was stolen directly from our car at Mirador de Cofete. Thing is it was only stuff taken away(not that I would complain). Just feel very disappointed.
Our baby is only 7 months old, and unfortunately the backpack contained basically all of his things for the trip:
Quechua baby backpack
bottles and baby food
Philips bottle/water heater
pacifiers
diapers
all his spare/travel clothes
baby toiletries
a children’s book
swimming suit
milk
and many other things we need for our little guy
The backpack itself isn’t particularly valuable, but everything inside is extremely important to us.
We are travelling with our 7-month-old baby, and having all of his things stolen makes the rest of our trip ,especially the journey back home ,much more difficult. 😤
I know this may be a long shot, but is there any chance someone has seen the backpack, found it somewhere nearby, or knows if anything was handed in? Perhaps the person who took it might realise it is just baby equipment and have no use for it.
If anyone around Cofete/Morro Jable has heard anything or comes across a Quechua backpack containing baby items, please send me a message.
