Continue with my VLSI startup job or prepare for GATE 2027?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 2026 ECE graduate and have a VLSI startup offer (less than 10 LPA first year, around 10-13 LPA afterwards).

I'm interested in Design Verification and eventually want to work at top semiconductor companies. I'm confused whether I should:

- Continue working and focus on gaining experience.

- Prepare for GATE 2027 alongside my job and pursue M.Tech (only if I get IISc/top IITs).

Is doing an M.Tech after 1 year of VLSI experience worth it, or is it better to continue working and switch companies later?

Would love to hear from people in the semiconductor industry or anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Gate or Internship/Placement at 3rd Year

Hi everyone, need some advice. I’m currently a 3rd year EEE student at NIT Calicut.

I’ve completed Digital Electronics and Aptitude so far. Companies like Texas Instruments and Qualcomm will be visiting soon, but apart from TI, most core electronics companies mainly hire MTech students. Also, Qualcomm/Intel-type companies expect C, Verilog, COA and projects, but they usually hire only 1–2 BTech students from our college.

After the TI internship drive, I’ll have around 7 months before GATE 2027, and I still have around 8 GATE subjects left.

I’m confused:

Focus on C, Verilog, COA and projects for placements/internships, then prepare for GATE later.
Go all-in on GATE till February, then prepare for placements after GATE.
Follow a hybrid approach—prepare C, Verilog, COA along with 4 GATE subjects this year.

What would you do in my situation? I’d really appreciate any advice.

If i put 6 hours per day till next gate i will be able to complete 90 percent syllabus by first week of january i think..is it possible or am i just planning i can finish it

or should i put full effort to vlsi domain and prepare for next year TI and qualcomm drive

can anyone help and advice me what to do…really confused🙏

GATE ECE or Bank Preparation?

My Goal is Only Govt Job. Govt Job can be anything - State/Central not just PSUs

No Mtech, No MBA

Where will I get more opportunities (I should be able to give multiple exams with preparation where I will be eligible)?

I know both exams are different and I am ready to prepare.

Signal system

Signal & System (ECE)

Please suggest a good resource for signal and system. I studied from Vishal Sir Kreatryx YouTube during my Semester Exams, but I think he did not cover everything in that playlist.

I am good at Chapter 1 ( introduction), need to cover LTI and then transforms, plz suggest something good, I'm so frustrated, I tried to study from sujal sir PW but I didn't like it, everyone says this subject takes less time to complete, but in my case it's completely the opposite

Future of GATE EC

The job market is saturated as heck well unrelated to my dreams. How well will i perform in EC, I have this not so deep but fair interest in firmware and tinyml and working with memory management basically and in the future maybe control systems. But considering I'm poor and my parents will eventually put me through fomo and i need to move out and need financial stability do i even stand a chance if i do all of these, and my college barely has ec companies coming through?

I don't know if I should even prepare for GATE or not

I was never really serious about GATE ECE, ever before my final year began. All I wanted was a job in a tech company. Then when I somehow managed to get an offer from a service based company, considering the bad market, I thought let's start with GATE preparation and give it a try at least. I started with Digital Electronics and honestly the subject felt easy. I could solve around 60% of the PYQs and remaining questions I got wrong mostly due to silly mistakes or not reading the question properly. Then my final semester exams began and things went busy for a month.

When I came back home, I started with Network Theory and this time, things became difficult. I watched the lectures, but this time I couldn't build intuition for a lot of PYQs. I have completed engineering in ECE and I m still struggling with GATE Basics in Network Theory. Is it worth to prepare for GATE for a person like me ?

I OFFICIALLY GIVE UP ANY HOPE for the most hype path of ECE

Network theory is officially the worst subject for me . If I can't even handle fucking circuits , how can I ever hope to do anything in VLSI ? this path is not for me .

semiconductor physics ? I am consistently studying from Streetman and Banerjee and it's exercises and they are difficult but doable and even intuitive for me .

EMFT ? Maxwell's equations, wave propagation , polarization? great AND already cleared . Going to start transmission lines soon . this is some great stuff . Such a beautiful subject.

Maths ? no question about it . It's love at this point. I don't even follow GATE coaching lectures anymore , strictly from NPTEL or MIT and books. Cleared entire calculus, currently in linear algebra .

How and why the fuck I can't solve fucking circuits problems of what is supposed to be the most basic subject ? this shit isn't physics or maths it's more catching the pattern than anything. Also my brain spirals about fields whenever I see this shit .

I will study basic circuits because it's needed in every domain of ECE and EE . But I know my ass ain't getting a top rank , and I know I will absolutely fuck things up if I ever go the route of VLSI .

after 6 months I will start studying signals and that would be my last hope .. Hopefully I like it enough or I will change my path to maths or da .
