Looking for a serious GATE ECE study partner for consistency and accountability from Hyderabad.

I’m preparing for GATE ECE and looking for someone who is genuinely consistent and wants to study regularly, discuss doubts, share targets, and keep each other disciplined.

IIIT DELHI OR IIIT ALLAHABAD

ECE (Specialization in VLSI)

I am confused between both options.

On LinkedIn, I asked students from IIIT Delhi, and they told me to choose IIIT Allahabad. However, a student from IIIT Allahabad told me that the placement scenario there is not good.

According to the eligibility list, I am only eligible for:

NIT Surathkal (but my GATE score is not sufficient for it)

IIIT Allahabad

NIT Jaipur

And the lower nits.

And I have chances of getting IIIT DELHI in the next round.

How much does cgpa affect interviews for GATE?

Currently studying in thapar(if that means anything tier 2.5 college hai), fked up 1st sem bad got an sg of 6.9 and currently in 2nd sem, someone told me you need 9+ for gate since thapar is pretty bad, might get 8+ this sem and summer sem forms came up should i go for that or do miscellaneous ece and gate stuff at home. My current branch is enc so it might be hard to get 9+ cg in the future

Honest advice needed: GATE ECE vs coding for placements

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in a Tier 3 college in west bengal (ECE branch), and my 3rd year is about to start in around 2 months. Honestly, in the past 2 years, I haven’t learned much. The only thing I know decently is Java up to OOP.

Right now I’m very confused about what to focus on.

My main goal is GATE ECE because from what I’ve understood, it gives better opportunities, environment, and long-term growth compared to what my college offers.

To give some context, the average package in my college is around 3–4 LPA, sometimes 6-8 LPA and mostly IT companies come, not from core companies. That’s why I feel GATE might be a better path.

But at the same time, I don’t want to completely ignore placements. Since I’m from a Tier 3 college, I feel like I should keep placements (coding/DSA) as a backup option.

So I’m stuck between:

  • Preparing seriously for GATE
  • Learning coding for placements (java, springboot, dsa)

My biggest confusion is: Is it realistically possible to balance both without messing up both?

if i am thinking anything wrong feel free to correct i genuinely need guidance

Whenever I start one, I start overthinking about the other and end up doing neither properly.

I’m fully willing to put in hours of hard work and stay consistent — that’s not the issue. I just need clarity on direction.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, please guide me:

  • What would you do if you were in my place?
  • Should I go all-in on GATE or balance both?
  • If balancing is possible, how should I structure it?

I feel really stuck right now and unable to start properly because of this confusion.

Any honest advice would really help. Thanks 🙏

Need suggestions regarding my CCMT 2026 NIT VLSI preference order (EWS, GATE EC 43)

https://preview.redd.it/69xyodc20j1h1.png?width=1102&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdaeafc69ddca4e2ed6a9c95a614321a172e436d

Hi everyone,
I’m from Telangana and I’ve filled my CCMT 2026 choices for M.Tech VLSI-related branches. I wanted opinions on whether my preference order looks good or if I should change anything before locking.

My current top preferences are:

  1. NIT Surathkal – VLSI Design
  2. NIT Trichy – VLSI System
  3. NIT Warangal – VLSI Systems Design
  4. NIT Rourkela – VLSI Design & Embedded Systems
  5. NIT Calicut – Microelectronics & VLSI Design
  6. MNNIT Allahabad – Microelectronics & VLSI Design
  7. NIT Kurukshetra – VLSI Design & Embedded Systems
  8. MNIT Jaipur – VLSI Design
  9. NIT Durgapur – Microelectronics & VLSI
  10. NIT Delhi – ECE (VLSI specialization)

Other options include VNIT Nagpur, NIT Jalandhar, SVNIT Surat, MANIT Bhopal, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Puducherry, NIT Goa, etc.

My priorities are:

  • Better VLSI opportunities/internships
  • Good placements
  • Academics + coding culture
  • Decent campus life

Category: EWS
GATE EC Score: 43

Please suggest if any colleges should be moved higher/lower based on placements, VLSI exposure, overall reputation, and location preference considering I’m from Telangana.
Thanks!
