EU Buyers beware Evo X2

This is summary of what happened to me generated by AI, as i'm too tired to retype it for the n-th time

I wanted to share my experience for anyone considering buying an expensive GMKtec system.

In 2025, I preordered a GMKtec EVO-X2 and paid a deposit to secure one of the first production units. When the product became available, I made the final payment and received the machine. The total cost was close to €1,800.

A little over a year later, the PC failed. The power LED turns on, but the fan never starts and the system shuts itself down after a few seconds.

I contacted GMKtec support. Their response was that the issue could be related to the motherboard or power adapter, but they would not provide repair or replacement because their warranty period is only ONE year AS OPPOSED TO 2 YEARS STANDARD IN EU.

What surprised me is that they did not claim:

  • Physical damage
  • Liquid damage
  • User misuse
  • Unauthorized modification

The issue appears to be a hardware failure, but support's position is that the device is out of warranty.

I have since:

  • Filed complaints with consumer protection authorities.
  • Requested an independent diagnostic assessment.
  • Started looking into repair options.

I'm not telling anyone what to buy, but if you're spending €1,500 to €3,000 on a premium mini PC, make sure you fully understand what support and repair options are available after the first year.

GMKtec case screw size?

Hi all - can anyone tell me what the case screw dimensions are on the GMKTec K12 please? Two on each case side, four total.

I know they're threaded for M2 as I've been able to test with an SSD screw, but I'm not sure on the other dimensions and my current M2 screws are too short and the screwhead diameter too wide to fit in the recessed screw hole.

Ideally, I need to know screw length and diameter of the head, it would be great if anyone has their K12 and some callipers to hand!

I took all 4 out, put them in a tiny baggy to keep them safe, and they've disappeared off the face of the earth. 😢

Thanks in advance.

GMKtec - Delivery

I recently decided to buy a mini PC for the first time and ordered one directly from the GMKtec website. However, it has now been 5 business days and my order is still showing as “Processing”.

For those of you who have ordered directly from GMKtec before, what was your experience like? I believe the mini PC is being shipped from China, so I’m also curious about how long shipping usually takes and whether anyone has had issues with the package getting held at customs.

I’m based in Portugal, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone in Europe who has ordered from them. How long did it take for your order to move from “Processing” to being shipped, and how long did the whole delivery take?

Support Silence Suggestions

The NIC on my Evo-X2 suddenly stopped working. I preformed a bunch of troubleshooting and sent them details of what I had done. I got an email back asking where I bought it and what the Serial Number was. I responded, "Microcenter" and the SN. I got back an email from "Richard" that said, remove the LAN driver from the system and install it again with a link to a Google Drive share.

I check the link, and it is windows drivers. I was running proxmox and then Ubunutu 26.04. So I explain the problem. Told them it was working and then stopped. I showed them the "lspci -nn" which shows nothing.

After that silence. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is GMKtec K11 compatible with Thunderbolt 5?

I'm looking into purchasing a K11 in combination with a Gigabyte Aorus RTX 5060 Ti eGPU. The GPU doesn't have an Oculink port but does have Thunderbolt 5 ports, meanwhile the K11 has USB4 rather than specifically Thunderbolt. Would these still be compatible? or is there a better way to link these up?

Dust filter

Had an old pc case with magnetic dust filter that i cut to size to fit my gmktec k12. Had to do it because of dust. I still have to figure out how to add a filter on the cpu side though. Temps are amazing.
