reddit.comRTX 2060 TUF Gaming damaged pad
My RTX 2060 Asus TUF Gaming recently started crashing with severe vertical artifacts (resembling VRAM failure) on Kubuntu 26.04 LTS. This happened suddenly, about 3 times within an hour. Prior to this, the card had been running flawlessly for a couple of weeks on Windows after a repaste with liquid metal and thermal putty.
I tore the card down to investigate. There was no liquid metal spill. Some thermal putty had squeezed out around the memory chips, so I gave the board a thorough cleanup.
However, under the microscope, I spotted a very suspicious burned/damaged area right on the corner of the PCB, close to the 8-pin connector and a mounting hole (see attached photos). I checked some older pictures of the board from a month ago, and surprisingly, no components seem to be missing from those pads despite the obvious damage/corrosion look. I cleaned it until I could see the bare copper, but I don't know if it's safe to test it as it is.
Any insights on what this specific circuit handles on the Asus TUF PCB would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 multiple memory error
I have a GTX 1080 no display, ran mats with blank screen, came back with both A and B channel error,
Do I replace memory first or reflow core?
How do you read schematics properly without Boardvieww? MSI 4070TI ventus 3x
I have a gpu with knocked off components under vram and i believe the nv power supply aswell as the other sorounding areas.
i managed to tell there are knocked off ceramic capacitors under FBA 63-32, FBB 63-32 and FBC 31-0. Not sure what to tell except that there is missing ic for Q519 & U49(identified the ic already so no worries there) aswell as ceramic capacitors and resistors for U41.
id be happy to learn to read schematics for ms v513. i know how to use them, struggling to identify from schematic to the board and vice versa.
want to buy the replacement parts
RX6900XT - U7102 (HT32F52342) potentially dead - how f^cked am I?
TL;DR the MCU that controls fans and checks PEX voltages indicates proper PEX connection via LEDs is most likely dead. How hard will it be to find the code to program a replacement?
Long version:
Hi there! A couple of months ago I bought an Aorus RX6900XT Waterforce (it's the watercooled variant of Gigabyte RX6900XT OC 16GB, and has the same board and most components) as a "state unknown" for pretty cheap. I've repaired GPUs in the past, I am an electronics enthusiast since I was 7, so I know some stuff about repairing GPUs.
The card (of course) was dead on arrival, which I fully expected (I had hoped that it might be alive, and be "untested" because someone who got it in some way didn't have a water loop and didn't want to test it dry, but tough luck).
3.3V from PCI-E showed a short, so I soldered a wire onto a cap that (according to board view for this card) was connected to this line, put some power through it, and i tested it up to 2A (max of what my bench PSU is capable of), and it took the entire 2A, with the voltage as low as 2.6V, so I guess that's a little high according to the specification that says 3A is the absolute maximum. Then I whipped out a thermal camera (admittedly a pretty shitty one, because it's an old Caterpillar S60 smartphone with the FLIR thermal camera), and I've noted that U7102 (HT32F52342 [Click for datasheet]) is getting pretty hot (55-60 deg. C with the 2A being pulled from my PSU). Then, poking around further, I've noticed that U7104 (MP1475 [Click for datasheet]) was kerpow'd. This chip was supposed to take +12V_BUS_B to generate the 5V_LED line, which through R7135 (470Ohm) supplied ADC_VREF for U7102 (the microcontroller). So it's pretty safe to assume, that when U7104 went ^(nuclear), it took U7102 with it to Valhalla, sadly.
And here's my problem... Knowing, that it's a microcontroller, and seeing no external Flash memory anywhere near it, I fear the worst, that the program was on the "...128 KB of embedded Flash memory for code/data storage", to quote the manufacturer of the MCU.
If the U7102 is indeed ker-chowed to all hell (and the thermal camera/current draw would suggest so), how hard would it be to obtain the code that was used to program it? Is it something that's available somewhere in the Internet? My last repaired GPU was back in the GTX2XX era, so I am a bit rusty in that regard, I don't even know how to start looking for it
If You'd need the boardview, DM me. I'm unsure if I can post the file here, so I will just send it to anyone interested via DMs.
Help whit resistence in 3050 msi ventus 2x xs
Burnt Resistor from a lenovo ideapad gaming rtx 3060
I bought the laptop a couple days ago because she said it only has a broken battery and whennit arrived the gpu cant be detected thats why I opened laptop and found that a resistor brunts a hole thrpugh the pcb. I cant find any schematics and thats the only clear picture of the motherboard i can get on the internet. Can anyone identify the value of the resistor or have any schematics?
Concerns on getting my 3070 repaired
I'm getting my RTX 3070 repaired this week and my main concern is that the technician that will repair my gpu told me that my VRM were counterfeits from the original and it's messing up my gpu (For context my gpu is experiencing black screen and fans going 100% goes very loud I can still shut my pc down but cannot see). They said that they would have to replace 10 of my VRM's and I'd have to wait 15 days or more to get a new replacement can I know you guys thoughts on this? Also here's a picture of the VRM's that they said were counterfeits idk much on gpu stuff but I just want to make sure that this is the right issue.
ROG Strix GeForce RTX™ 3080 OC Edition 12GB side fans not spinning
hey, i have a 3080 rog strix
-about 3-4 years old
-fans replaced today (before replacement, left fan slowly made noise and died out, right fan was spinning very fast to make up for it, eventually stopped as well)
-center fan works fine, can control via 3rd party softwares
-side fans not spinning (both), both spin for about 5 seconds during POST
-can't control side fans via 3rd party softwares
-side fans not spinning even at 80 celcius
-tried DDU, vsbios flash, FanControl (no response from side fans on the same control channel), fans replaced
any suggestions?
RTX 5080 ROG ASTRAL random black screens / no signal issue, possible faulty GPU?
Hey everyone,
I recently installed a brand new ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC into my PC. The card was bought sealed and looked completely new. At first everything worked perfectly, but after some time I started getting random black screens / no signal on both monitors at the same time.
Important details:
- Both monitors lose signal simultaneously (DP + HDMI)
- GPU RGB and fans stay on
- Sometimes happens during normal desktop use or idle
- Sometimes happens on boot
- Event Viewer shows nvlddmkm / TDR related errors
- No overheating or artifacting
- GPU benchmarks and games normally most of the time
- Happens fully randomly, I couldn't detect a pattern
Things I already tried:
- DDU + clean NVIDIA driver reinstall
- Older and newer NVIDIA drivers
- Reset GPU to stock settings
- BIOS defaults
- Disabled hardware acceleration/HAGS
- Reinstalled NVIDIA App
- New native Corsair 12V-2x6 cable
- Different HDMI/DP cables
System:
- RTX 5080 Astral OC
- i7-14700F
- Gigabyte B760 GAMING X DDR4
- Corsair RM850x Shift 850W
- 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 (yes i know, should be ddr5)
Before installing this GPU, my previous GPU worked perfectly fine in the exact same system.
ASUS support basically told me I already did all the normal troubleshooting and suggested warranty/retailer handling, but the GPU originally came from a sealed auction item so I currently don’t have the original retailer receipt.
Has anyone experienced something similar with 50 series cards or random nvlddmkm/TDR signal loss issues?
Gigabyte Vision RTX 3090 not powering on after lates Nvidia driver update
My son's Gigabyte Vision RTX3090 crashed to black screen after the latest nvidia drivers (Tuesday of this week) he started playing Warzone, dropped in to a game and the game crashed to black screen.
My son's rig would boot as I could here the windows startup chime but no display or light coming on the card. Tried in my rig with new cable, the same issue.
Ive a feeling a capacitor may have blown but unsure. Can anyone recommend a repair outfit near Manchester, UK. Or a way that I could mend the card.
Cheers
Has anyone seen a failure like this on a 7900 GRE before?
My friend's ASRock Challenger OC RX 7900 GRE started acting up during a normal gaming session a couple days ago. First the GPU stopped showing up in Task Manager, then Device Manager started showing Code 31 errors and his second monitor stopped working. We did DDU in Safe Mode, reinstalled drivers, checked cables and it seemed like it was working again.
Then during a GPU load test the PC crashed he said he heard a pop, saw a small spark and smelled burning. He immediately unplugged it and when he opened up the card the PCB was burnt.
The rest of the system seems stable now running on integrated graphics. Had him run OCCT CPU and RAM tests and it passed with good temps. The PSU is a Cooler Master MWE Gold V3 750W and the GPU was using separate PCIe power cables, not daisy chained.
The system has a Ryzen 5 7600, 32GB DDR5-6000, and an ASRock B650M Pro RS motherboard.
Has anyone seen this kind of component failure before on AMD cards or specifically the 7900 GRE?
ZOTAC GTX 1050ti no display on HDMI
Card has 3 ports: HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI. Works normal on DVI and DP but nothing on HDMI.
What I Checked:
•Different cable, monitor (doesn't react on plugging)
•Pins continuity on HDMI port
•No shorts on 5V and data pins
•There's 5V on HPD and +5V (18,19) pins
Need some guidance on what to check next
GIGABYTE RTX 3070 Eagle not showing display
my GPU isnt being detected but the LED light is showing up so i opened it up and it seems fine just wondering if anyone whose more knowledgeable can pinpoint an issue
RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB — Only FBPA_2 failing in MODS (0x0000000a) — Which chips are bad?
Hey everyone,
First time posting here. I have an EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080 10GB that powers on, fans spin, but no display and GPU-Z shows 0MB VRAM.
I ran MODS 455.204 and got this result:
- Only NV_PFB_FBPA_2_TRAINING_STATUS = 0x0000000a
- All other FBPA partitions are 0x00000000
- Error 000000000507 (Memory DQ write training failed)
Full log screenshots attached.
Question: On the EVGA FTW3 Ultra 10GB, does FBPA_2 correspond to the two middle chips in the right column (C0/C1)? I've circled what i believe to be C0/C1 in the attached image.
Any help identifying the exact physical location would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
EVGA 3080 FTW3 - Detected but no display
It’s my first time doing anything like this, so any help would be appreciated with diagnosing and working on a fix since I’ve hit a dead end with what I should do next.
-Detected in device manager with error 43
-Monitor backlight turns on but no display output
-GPU’s fans and RGB working as normal
-GPU Z reads many missing values such as a VRAM of 0MB
-NVFlash gives errors when trying to access VBios (Even with safe mode and DDU driver cleanup)
-Same symptoms with other PCIE slots and in other PCs
-Core rail resistance: ~0.4-0.7 Ohms
-Memory rail resistance: ~0.5-0.9 Ohms
-1 inductor on each side (2 in total across both rails) have a resistance of ~46 Ohms (I think these are separate low current ones?)
Looking for Broken rx 6950 xt or 6900 xt
I have a 6950 xt pcb and the chip i fried trying to fix it, was wondering if anyone has a 6950 xt chip, even from a damaged pcb that was working but repair/availability of parts was not good at the time. less
First test results for 3070 gaming xtrio, is a1 always the same on all gpu's?
Before i take it out of my pc and start opening up the gpu for repair i want to know if i should do additional testing and if the schematic from the post is correct for the gpu i have.
