98 GS300 Vehicle Speed Sensor

I have found my speedometer and odometer to work intermittently and not at all. I have read it’s the vehicle speed sensor going out. Has anyone here replaced this themself? I read it’s located on the transmission which makes it harder to get to.

Inside the machine…

It appears the just adding oil when needed and filter changes every 5k seems to have kept the top of engine somewhat tidy…

Driver front wheel connector

Found this connector when doing my front brakes. Any idea what it goes to? I have zero lights on my dash so its not triggering anything to go off.

My GS project

Greetings!
I’ve been here quite a while and made some posts previously, but here is what I have been up to recently!
This entire project started off with a mate saying he has this trashed vertex kit, an idea of rebuilding it and a full subframe lying around.

I jumped at the chance of getting the kit, bonus: it came with 2 OEM bumpers too.
I also grabbed the subframe off him and rebuilt that with strong-flex red bushes as I didn’t want the ride to be too stiff. While removing the rear frame I found some rust and attempted to sort it out, personally I don’t think I’ve done too badly considering I’m not a welder. I also managed to get some Ls400 calliper’s super-cheap with a rebuild kit and fitted them. Thankfully they were a straight bolt on as I already previously fitted some Hardrace RCA blocks.

My end goal with this phase of the GS was to get looking as good as I could make it in the time frame I set myself
Once I was happy with it I had a mini photoshoot with my then GF of 6 years at the 2026 JAPSHOW at SantaPod and proposed to her.
She said yes!!
Now onto many, many more projects!

TLDR: I cut up 4 bumpers to make them into 2 hybrid plastic fibreglass bumpers. Rebuilt a subframe, rebuilt and fitted LS400 brake calliper’s, welded the end plates back together, wrapped the car and gained a Life Partner

Well… drove it 25 miles home.

Finally got our schedules aligned and went and picked up this 2006 GS300 AWD loaded ride for stupid cheap. It’s leaking out from the valve cover gaskets like no tomorrow. Ordered genuine Toyota replacement gaskets that should be here this afternoon to pick up. Drives so smoothly. Needs a ton of tlc. Anybody have suggestions on replacement front seat covers? Started looking for 2006-2011 parts cars local so we have choices.
*updated gs400 to gs300. Sorry about that.

brake booster chirp

I bought my gs300 with the brake booster chirp and I've heard a million things and so on, I'd rather figure out what's causing the chirp than replace the whole thing because even if it costs almost the same to replace the whole unit in my mind I could end up having the same issue. a few threads lead me to believe this could be the part that's failing or leaking. does anyone know of this is legit? normally it's 450-600 dollars and I saw this ridiculously low price

Broken valve cover bolt

I did the valve covers gaskets on my 2001 gs300 and accidentally put this one on too tight, what’s the best way to get it out? If I take off the valve covers again there still should be about half the threads left so it is save-able right? It’s my lil bros car but his ahh never works on it

New Gs owner and headlight question

Hello everyone! I bought myself Gs 430 couple days ago and I'm loving it. It probably needs new lower ball joints since when I hit a bump the steering wheel does shake a bit.

But after that is sorted I'm wondering if I can install Led headlights on my model since it has auto-leveling headlights? Are there any Led headlights that support the auto-leveling feature?
