8.5 Small performance difference

8.5 Small performance difference

Am i the only person noticing small performance drop from one ui 8 to 8.5, such as the slow sluggish animation when switching between the two panels on status bar, yes ive had lots of apps before on 8.0 but my device was as smooth as it can get, not seeing much that will keep me on 8.5 id just favor the 1-2% Performance increase i guess since i can switch back

Rolling back to 8.0 from 8.5 is possible.

hey if youre someone who cares about the smoothness of your phone and dont want even a single 1% drop or animations becomng sluggish or just wish to roll back to 8.0 from 8.5 yes its possible, i just installed the 8.5 yesterday and it wasnt a nice experience for me ** USE AT YOUR OWN RISK; i am not responsible for any damage, malfunction or data loss ** Just wanted to point out that its simply possible or at least in my case was!

i dont think i will ever update the phone again until at least a year or to pass due to security reasons otherwise im happy with my phone as it is right now

Galaxy A17 suddenly shut down and is now completely hard-bricked (unresponsive). Any advice?

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a major issue with my Galaxy A17 and I'm hoping someone here might know what happened or if there is any way to revive it.

Device History: I bought the phone about 1 year and 2 months ago (around March 2025). Unfortunately, my 1-year warranty just expired this past February, so I'm on my own here.

The Timeline:

  • Last Thursday: The phone suddenly shut down out of nowhere in the morning while I was scrolling Instagram Reels. It happened a second time that evening during the same task.
  • The Storage Situation: At the time, my storage was very low (around 1 GB left out of 128 GB), so I freed up some space. A few days later, it filled up again and the phone suffered two more rapid shutdowns within 5 minutes while watching Reels (bringing the total to 4 shutdowns).
  • The Isolation Test: Last night, thinking it was an Instagram bug, I completely uninstalled the app. I also cleared up a solid buffer zone so the system had breathing room (currently sitting at 11.5 GB free out of 128 GB).
  • The Final Crash (5th total): Today at around 2:50 PM, the phone shut down for the fifth and final time. This time, I wasn't on Instagram; I was actively chatting on WhatsApp while listening to Spotify simultaneously.

Note: The ambient weather where I live has been extremely hot over the last few days, so I heavily suspect intense thermal stress played a role during these active usage spikes.

The Current State: The phone is now completely dead and "hard-bricked." It is entirely unresponsive to everything:

  1. Long-pressing the power button does nothing.
  2. Holding Power + Volume Down for 15+ seconds (forced restart) does nothing.
  3. Plugging it into the wall charger yields absolutely no response—no screen backlight, no battery/charging icon, and no vibration.

Since it always cut power while I was actively using it (heavy media streaming or multitasking), does this sound like a total battery failure or did the Power Management IC (PMIC) on the motherboard fry due to the heat?

Any insights before I take it to a repair shop would be highly appreciated!
