At what frequency are the controllers tracked?
Judging by the jitter as you move them around, it looks like 30Hz to me. In any case, it's bad. Connecting to PC with Virtual Desktop compounds the issue and makes FPS games basically unplayable.
Real-time 3D converting program capable of monocular 4K output
I would like to introduce you to a real-time 3D converting program that is very affordable yet offers amazing functionality.
Before getting into the main topic, I want to share one important piece of information.
If you are not using the modded version of Steam Link designed for Galaxy XR, then this program is not suitable for you. Only that app can provide the proper and impressive image quality intended for Deep Desktop.
Above all, the most significant feature of this program is that it was developed using the Unity engine and a modified DirectX 12, rather than the SBS operating method used by the OWL3D or IW3 we are familiar with.
SBS video is not being generated. Instead, the DirectX rendering pipeline itself is intercepted, and separate cameras are created for the left and right eyes.
Because of this, even when the Windows resolution is 3840×2160, it becomes possible to project 4K resolution per eye in VR.
It is thought to use a principle similar to HelixVision by Katanga, which enabled games to run in 4K resolution
per eye and allowed NVIDIA 3D Vision to be used in VR.
For this reason, it is possible to achieve monocular 4K quality during real-time conversion.
Therefore, it is the perfect program for Galaxy XR users.
There are 16 AI models available, and among them, I recommend "Distill Any Depth."
Of course, this program offers significantly better image quality, but I believe OWL3D is unrivaled in terms of 3D quality.
The program is called DEEP DESKTOP.
It can be purchased on the Steam store for about $6, and once purchased, it is a permanent ownership item.
I hope this serves as an opportunity to upgrade your standards, which may have been downgraded to 1080p quality until now.

Today I accused Google of abandoning GalaxyXR and all but ignoring it completely.
I predicted the AndroidXR portion would be consumed by 95% dedicated to their stupid copycat meta glasses, with just a 5% mention of GalaxyXR.
Turns out I was incorrect. It was actually 0% GalaxyXR. Not a single mention whatsoever, as if it didn't exist.

really? The yearly main event discussing AndroidXR and the future of the OS? ...when is the place for it a random wednesday in august? In a year since launch we have gotten 1 single update that literally broke the device, they had to apologize for, and took a month to "fix" even though its not fully fixed...
At least it was a good 2 years in before everyone realized Apple abandoned the Vision Pro. GalaxyXR was dead the day it released.

Leave the battery charger connected?
I read that some people are using an external baattery pack to increase headset battery life. Can I just leave the battery plugged into the charger while flight simming?

Memory leak issue still persisting after May update?
Are you guys still facing the memory leak issue even after the May hotfix update?
I don't even use Virtual Desktop or PCVR. I mostly use my headset for YouTube, Netflix, and local media playback, but the performance degradation is getting ridiculous.
When I first boot up the device, the RAM usage is already sitting at a massive 8.5 to 9.5 GB. I'm not entirely sure what the normal baseline usage should be for a headset in this category, but I know the Quest usually hovers around 2 to 2.5 GB.
QUESTION : What should the actual baseline RAM usage be for a high-end XR headset right after a fresh boot?
With our baseline starting so incredibly high, it doesn't leave much breathing room. The real issue is that while just watching YouTube, the RAM usage climbs by about 1 GB every single hour.
Once it hits the 14 GB mark, the system completely falls apart:
- Hand tracking stops working properly.
- Virtual screensstart floating away and glitching out.
A forced reboot is the only way to temporarily fix it.
I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this exact same behavior during basic media playback?
New to GXR
I recently purchased a used galaxy xr. Coming from a pimax crystal light. Although I had a quest 3 at one point so im no stranger to VD. Anyone use this headset for sim racing? Is latency high after pushing decent resolutions ? And what router are you using?
Question on availability and VRChat
So, waiting for the Galaxy XR to release in Europe, I'm wondering how well the face tracking works for VRChat. I haven't seen any recent videos on it, so I don't know if they have improved face tracking since release.
I'm wondering how it compares to the Quest Pro, for example.
Also, how is Virtual Desktop on the headset? Does it overheat running at such a high resolution?

GXR Reboots with Heavy Use - Is Memory Leak Still There?
I have recently been using the GXR for 5 to 6 hour sessions with virtual desktop and am now starting to experience system reboots approximately once every session.
I have never had this issue with any of the updates but have always done 2-3 hour sessions and unplugged the power once done.
Now that I am using it a lot more, I am wondering if the memory leak is still there. I use VD 90% of the time and this is where it is happening.
Anybody experiencing similar reboot issues both with VD or other software?

Early testing is promising. Was able to push 8k video and pass-through without gpu artifacting that you receive on webxr after a while.
Need simple game ideas for Galaxy XR

I got a Galaxy XR recently and want to make a small game for it. I’m a Unity dev but I don’t want to just port some random mobile game into XR.
Trying to think of simple ideas that would actually work well on the device. Probably something small, fun, and easy to pick up.

Squeaky Controller Trigger
Trigger on right controller started squeaking making it very annoying when in use. Have had the system for a couple of months with moderate use. Anybody experienced a similar issue?

Has anyone used a gunstock with the GXR controllers? How similar in shape to Quest 3?
So, the way vr gunstocks traditionally work, you have your controllers and you slide them into tight fitting 'cups' that mount onto the rest of the stock.
My go-to stock company, protube, is European and they don't make GXR cups because the GXR isn't sold in Europe.
How similar are the GXR controllers in shape to the Quest 3? Specifically the lower half that actually makes contact with the cup?
Has anyone here tried to use a GXR with a gunstock?
Nano banana full port to Android XR environment
Since Google has Nano banana to make any image I can apply to my own pictures, Google should make it easier to port any image I already have and make it a full 3d image as my environment in Android. I added my Galaxy XR with Globular Cluster and Stormtrooper
Xbox Elite 2 controller as an example.
The possibilities are endless with 360 cameras and then adding some form of auto 3d on top to finish the image.
Any way to force higher resolution in standalone games?

Got my XR recently and loving it after cutting the back off and slapping a dual knit band on it. Half-life Alyx looks breathtaking with VD Monster settings. Steam Frame who??
Anyways, I recently bought walkabout mini golf from the google play store, and whilst the colours are an upgrade on my Q3, the resolution does not seem to be - there is a lot of aliasing. Is there any way to force a higher resolution, via galaxy settings, adb commands or otherwise?

Anyone modded the existing light blockers?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has modded the light blockers to be more comfortable - they currently dig into my cheeks when I try to get close to the lenses w/o forehead pad.
I’m considering cutting them back so they don’t press, and then maybe supergluing some softer memory foam padding, if there is light leakage.
Anyone had any other solutions?
