I wish we’d see more of Hirose in casual/ non-school clothing.

I wish we’d see more of Hirose in casual/ non-school clothing.

So far, I’ve really loved the show and the way they portray the characters, but I think a strong step towards developing them further would be to show their personal style just a little bit more. It does make sense though, since the main setting is at school. Maybe I’m a bit nit-picky, but with or without I still really love the show, and I’m excited to see where it goes!

É normal se sentir triste assistindo o anime por que queria ter vivido algo semelhante no seu tempo de escola?

Am I the only one who found Hirose’s behavior here super rude and uncalled for?

I know the intention is anime comedy, but I think Hirose is really rude here. Nakamura has social anxiety and a social phobia, he is trying his best, and Hirose lashes out at him just to save himself because he is embarrassed. He doesn’t consider Nakamura’s feelings at all. And he doesn’t even apologize later, he acts like nothing happened.

I think an easy way to fix this scene would be to make Hirose panic when Nakamura freezes up, and instead of reacting with anger, he reacts out of desperation and slaps him to snap him out of it. Then later he apologizes for overreacting and buys Nakamura a drink.

Nakamura questioning his sexuality Is actually really relatable to me since I am lesbian and have thought I was bisexual before. It seems he only likes boys (pretty boys) to be exact so he is still gay.

*wait am I bi now" nah your just madly in love with hirose that even seeing him in a dress and long hair makes you flustered. honestly I'm lesbian but I have questioned if I was bi when I'm actually not so Buddy I feel you. but also if you are bi that would be cute cause bi people also need rep but nah your still gay.

Thoughts on episode 9?

Just woke up this morning and immediately rushed to watch the episode. Anyway, I was giggling the entire time during the play scene with Hirose and Nakamura.

Reiko kidnapping Nakamura again had me laughing so hard but it was honestly sweet how she gave him those prayer breads to help him catch the eye of his true love (which is obviously Hirose ).

Todoroki was also great this episode. Big respect to my boy for giving Nakamura a free meal. Back in Episode 1, I honestly thought he was just going to be the typical muscle jock guy, but Episodes 8 and 9 completely changed my opinion of him. He’s actually really nice and kind of a softie.

Kawamura giving Nakamura that sketch of Hirose was also really cute.

It was also hilarious seeing Nakamura having an identity crisis the entire episode after seeing Hirose’s sister. Bro was seriously questioning whether he was gay or bi for a second, but I also liked that even while panicking, he kept insisting that he only had eyes for Hirose.

And of course, Tamura politely Strangling asking Nakamura to join the play had me laughing lol.

Overall, I think it was a really good episode. I do wish we got more Hirose and Nakamura moments, but it was still enjoyable. I’m also glad they didn’t adapt that manga part where Hirose didn’t recognize Nakamura during the play because that would’ve hurt me emotionally.

Can't forget about the end credits too! It was so cute with Nakamura and Icchan!

i feel i've been seen this new chapter before

watched ep. 9 of today and i have the huge feeling that this already happened before in the anime, i don't remember if it was on twitter maybe someone leaked that ep or is some kind of deja vú but i swear i've seen it before photo just bc yeah

Why are some people so upset or even mad about episode 9?

I don't get it. The buildup before the play was just right, considering the chapter was moved much later in the story. The "slideshow" of supporting (literally in every way) characters was heartwarming, not meaningless at all.

The only 3 cuts from manga chapter were:

  1. The beginning with Icchan and Okuto's sister at home (we might see it latter, but if not, it's not a big deal).

  2. Hirose's friends mocking him and Hirose flipping them the bird in his head (yeah, we were robbed here, but we might still see that, maybe in the different situation, if we ever get Hirose's POV).

  3. Nakamura openly saying that Hirose was the most beautiful girl in the country (it could sound awkward at that point when Hirose is officially his friend, while to everyone else, Nakamura's feelings are already kinda an open secret, lol).

Also, Hirose recognizing Nakamura on stage and hugging him afterward had way more impact (at least for Nakamura), so the screenwriter didn't fuck that up.

A great episode overall, much better than imho weakest 8th episode (which still had its bright spots).

There's already people who think Nakamura is bisexual

I was a bit worried that this episode would confuse people and make them assume that Nakamura is bisexual instead of gay. I've already seen a few comments referring to him as bisexual.

The other assumption i've seen is that he is Hirose-sexual, so he is only attracted to Hirose. But if we look at the context clues, Nakamura never reflects on being attracted to a boy throughout the series and never shows attraction to any other female characters which presumably means that he'd already realised he was gay a long time ago before the series even started.

I think what's tripping people up is that they don't realise that the joke is completely centered around the ridiculousness of a gay character being confused by a woman purely because she's an exact copy of the boy he likes.

And if we take Nakamura's internal monolgue at the end into consideration, he concludes that he's not bisexual, he just subconsciously has a fetish for Hirose crossdressing.

There will still be people who misundestand it, but the main point is that Nakamura is still a gay character, he is not bisexual and the show itself confirms this.

Do we think the shows getting another season?

Its really popular online so far, but I have seen people say that the anime is mixing chapters from both volumes, so there's a chance that if there's no 3rd volume that it'll just be this. Which I hope not because this show is so dang cute and silly. Nakamura is literally my son he's literally me. What do we think about a second season? I haven't read the manga so is there enough chapters to cover 2?

Thoughts on Episode 9

It's kinda hard to talk about this episode while it feels it shouldn't be like that. By itself, I think it was good, better than the last two episodes, actually. While the first third felt a little slowed, the second and the third ones took the stories pace better (mostly because it's the manga's chapther adaptation). The best highlight is how the rest of the anime's cast are integrated in Nakamura's luck travel to be alongside Hirose in the play. This makes the protagonist's world more present in his life and Nakamura himself feels more confortable with the people around him. Besides, they managed to change the stage scene to make it work with the cronology of the series, mantaining Nakamura and Hirose's cute moment in the play.

However... the problem here arises on the episodes that are left. Thinking that they would close the story in one season, I think four episodes maybe not enough to make a satisfactory conclusion. And I say this not really blaming this episode, but the latest one, At least this one developt characters we'll keep watching, while episode 8 did it with one that probably we'll never see again. It's a fact that we'll get to see original content to fill the gaps to end the season, but at the same time, it feels the writers fought very hard to fit the manga chapters in a plot that should end in 13 episodes.

Also, we barely see any advance in Nakamura's relationship with Hirose. He acts with him as a friend (even with the natural nervousness that take talking to your crush), but we are at a point where, if they plan making Hirose corresponding Nakamura's feeling, it doesn't seem that he can make his feelings grow towards the protagonist. I really hope we get to watch a Hirose's POV episode in the future, because keepting the focalization on Nakamura the whole time, makes that any possible ending would feel incomplete. In summary, with the latest episode and, in some part, with this one, it feels they aren't using the time they have in an effective way.

With the leaks there have been telling how the next episode will be, I really hope they use it wisely to develop the main characters relationship and lead it to another narrative peak in the finale. This week's episode made it well, but it's time to the series to be a little serious again.

I like how the anime is fleshing out the cast as a friend group

One thing I really liked about the ending of this episode is that the cast is sort of forming a friend group of their own, and that Nakamura, whether he realizes it or not, is actually making a lot of friends on the road to Hirose's heart.

Even the teachers like Otogiri and Niou seem to have more sympathy for Nakamura, with Niou sending Nakamura to watch the play due to Hirose being there.

Idk, I just think it's really sweet.
