This year my raised bed is suffering

The first pic is this year, the second if last year. Can a slightly wetter cooler year be the whole explanation? I may have somewhat over watered but it seems like a major difference

Full South Facing Sun Recs

Hello! I live in Seattle and I have a balcony that is completely south facing and gets full sun. I’m on the top floor and get zero shade. Any plant recommendations? I tried onions this last season but they couldn’t take the sun. Edible and native plants preferred! (and on a side note, I have a small fig tree who leaves and fruit browned and fell very quickly once summer started so should I keep it indoors in the summer with some shade?) Thank you!
