Garmin ELEVATE 4.1 - two sensors going forward mean compromises on cheaper Garmins

The CIRQA costs $30 more than the Index Sleep Monitor but ships with a generation-older sensor.

Garmin added skin temperature to the Gen 4 platfrm rather than using the Gen 5 that already ships in the cheaper sleep monitor. The most plausible explanations are component costs and battery life rather than sensor generation, since the CIRQA targets 10 days across a full activity and recovery feature set versus the Index Sleep Monitor's sleep-only profile.

The more interesting implication is what this establishes for the product range going forward. Gen 4.1 is now a shipping sensor variant, which makes it a candidate for the next Vivosmart or an entry-level Forerunner.

The trademark filings still reference emotional stress sensing separately from physical stress, and the hardware may carry EDA capability that a firmware update could activate. Full analysis here: https://the5krunner.com/2026/07/21/garmin-elevate-4-1/

Does the sensor downgrade relative to the Index Sleep Monitor change how you see the CIRQA's value, or is the full activity tracking feature set worth the trade-off? I'm edging towards the latter but suspect I'm in the minority...I'm buying one to replace my Polar SENSE as (hopefully) a reference source for testing
