Switched from a Fenix 6 Pro to a Fenix 8 Solar

My Fenix 6 Pro unfortunately broke after 5 years due to water damage. Garmin gave me a 45% discount on the Fenix 8 Solar. I would have preferred to keep the 6 Pro, and despite the discount I’m still upset with Garmin, because I only used the Fenix 6 Pro while showering and I don’t understand how a watch rated water-resistant to 100 meters can suffer water damage from that. The inside of the watch was completely wet and moldy, and the buttons were never pressed while showering.

Garmin Fenix 8 pro vs Tactix 8 Amoled

Hello all,

Wanted to get some feedback / suggestions on which watch would be a better option?
Fenix 8 Pro is a newer version, I won’t use the LTE capability at least initially maybe in the future if it’s developed more.
The tactix 8 is very cool looking watch which I don’t use the tactical features either.

I see the fenix 8 pro might have a better screen and speaker, but the Tactix is probably a better option for the next couple years in case i decide to sell it.

Which one would you pick?

Thanks!

GraVision Watch Face

I just got my Fenix 8 and I’m using the GraVision watch face. It works great but I don’t see a way to change the time zone at the bottom. I’ve changed the alt time zone in the watch but it doesn’t affect that time, it stays the same.

Latest obsession: Hand styles

Helix Heritage just got an update this morning and I cannot stop switching hands! Genuinely excited.

Version 1.1 ships with three properly adapted hand styles: Portal Hybrid, Modello GMT, and Helix Heritage native: and the key word here is adapted. These are not copy-paste ports from our other faces. Each set was individually crafted to feel at home on Helix Heritage’s dial, and separately tuned for both AMOLED and MIP screens so they look considered on every device.

My favourite AMOLED setup:
Modello GMT hands, Baby Blue, 80% transparency, Night Red second hand, shadows on.

My MIP setup:
Portal hands, Baby Blue, solid, Night Red second hand, shadows on.

What I love about this is that you are not changing the watch face. You are changing the whole mood of the watch face.

Go update your Helix Heritage to the latest version with many fixes and improvements:

New Fenix 8 owner

Fenix 8 Solar 47mm titanium comes on Monday. First time user of the Fenix line, coming from Venu 2. Picked MIP since I live in a year round sunny state and bc the AMOLED, while nice vibrant colors, is too bright for me - even when it’s at its lowest brightness setting. Extended battery life is a nice perk as well.

Tips, tricks, things I should know?

Hoping I made a good decision!

Anybody know any good bands for the Fenix 8 51mm that are similar to the instinct 3 bands that flair out a little where they connect to the watch. I don’t like the original band that I have on right now because of how the band is just straight

Anyone with the Fenix 8 Pro 51mm Titanium that care share pics

I’m trying to decide if I want the Titanium or DLC Gray. I like the idea of a less sportier looking watch.

Anyone using Expedition mode all the time to squeeze more battery life out of Garmin watch (Fenix 8)

Today I suddenly thought about whether Expedition mode can squeeze more battery during paused mode and after I tried I can still use the watch as usual.

Remaining life jump from 25 days to 70 days with 77% battery left.

New Garmin User - Maps

Hey all, I’m a new garmin user on the Fenix 8 and I was hoping someone could give me some direction on the maps application please. Since buying the watch new, any route when calculating flags as “route calculation error” and I generally find the application tricky to use. Feel like I’m missing the obvious or some initial download which needs to be completed by any direction would be great. Thanks

Couldn't decide between MIP & AMOLED so I got both

My first Garmin(s). Coming from Galaxy Watch Ultra. I already love the battery life. I couldn't decide between the 2, I see advantages and disadvantages of both. Still a lot to learn about but I'm looking forward to it!

Which watch?

So my fenix 6s pro 42mm died on holiday last week. Fermin are offering me 30% off a new watch! My only issue is I loved my fenix but the 42 battery wasn’t as great as my partners 5x(which is still great) I went to try on the 47 but it’s so uncomfortable and the black strap is so long! I hate the white garmins as mine was white and got filthy. So I can get the gold either way sandstone for about £610 with discount. Not actually a great saving as 3rd parties selling for £700! O had really hoped to get the 47mm but I don’t know why it’s so uncomfortable! I even tried the Apple Watch Ultra which is huge but comfortable! I don’t know what to do! I’m worried about 43mm battery, do I just like the look of the Apple as it’s shiny? Will I miss Garmins sensible features? I love using maps and that’s the big thing for me! I love body battery and training status etc! Help a small wrist hiker out!

Current Garmin sale Fenix 8 vs pro

I’m deciding on buying either the current sale either the fenix 8 or the fenix 8 pro. I’ve seen the screen is better in the pro and I was thinking will probably be supported longer as far as software releases.

I don’t think I will immediately use the lte and in reach features but for $100 over the regular 8 was thinking is with it?

Anyone who has upgraded to the 8 Pro or just have thr pro can provide me some advice?

Thanks

New watch help

Hey, I’m looking for a new watch. I’ve had the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro for two years, and later switched to the Garmin Instinct 2X Tactical. I really love the ruggedness and durability of the Instinct, but unfortunately, having maps makes my job a lot easier. I also really like the PacePro feature.

I never had the chance to see the Garmin Enduro 3 in person, so I’m curious what you guys think about it. I’ve heard the build quality isn’t as good as the Fenix 8 Solar (MIP version).

The things I care about most are: durability and being able to take a bit of a beating, good battery life, and Garmin supporting it for a long time; thanks alot!

Screen issue on Fenix 8. sort of.

Hello everyone.
I hope someone has an answer for me.

I have this white "line"? at the top of my watch, between the screen and the Bessel" and halfway around the watch.

It doesn't seem to be dirt, I assume it could be a scratch but I haven't noticed it before today.

It doesn't affect the watch so far, but I do worry whether it can affect the actual screen in time.

My leather strap finally arrived!

Looks amazing with black Fenix 8!
That’s original Garmin Chestnut leather case.

PS: Used for a bit but for me it even better for leather!

Trying this guy again! Fenix 51mm

Has anyone had a tough time adjusting to garmin coming from Apple?

I Got this same watch over a month ago but I never really tried to give it a proper go. I decided to return it and go back to my Apple Watch Ultra. But I noticed last night that they were on sale by a lot. Got it for $1100 CAD so it was kind of a no brainer. Basically the same price for the ultra.

Matte MIP with leather strap

Accidentally took a look at my wrist today when driving and thought that it looked good.
