Struggling with GH B&B #8

Struggling with GH B&B #8

Is anyone else having a tough time playing Gloomhaven Buttons & Bugs? I’m at scenario 8 and I died as Mindthief, so I switched to Bruiser for his defensive caps but Ive already died once and changed enemies to Easy mode, but I’m still getting trapped, muddled, poisoned and hurt each round, with no real way of manuevering to each pressure plate.

Had to let off some steam.

Question about Blinkblade Level 8 "Quantum Uncertainty" Top ability - How do the fast and slow effects interact with advantage/disadvantage?

Hi all, hope we are well. I had a quick question regarding the Top ability of the Level 8 Blinkblade card "Quantum Uncertainty." I couldn't find a direct answer (unless I missed it) but I was wondering what takes priority in terms of how the "Treat x2 as miss or miss as x2" works.

For instance, if I am Muddled and elect to use the top on "Slow" and draw a +0 and x2, do I apply +0 as that is the lower number or does the "x2 as miss" ability on the card take priority and pick the crit instead which would turn into a miss?

We have recently started the campaign and I am planning my character out so just wanted to clarify.

Many thanks.

RPG Deluxe Box Set retail availability

Has there been any info on whether the RPG Deluxe Box Set will be available for purchase retail, post campaign. My group is undecided on whether we want to purchase as we're still playing through Frosthaven and Gloomhaven 2E. I would much rather wait to see what's available a few years from now before deciding...

Are you supposed to use summoning circles for enemy summons?

The rulebook states "if there are no available standees, the summon fails". I assumed this meant actual standees and not summoning circles. So I was wondering if the game even expects you to put a summoning circle on the board and then put a standee on top, or if it's just a standee.

I'm specifically asking, because I foresee a situation where there are still standees left, but no summoning circles. Sure, it's unlikely, as there are 14 of those circles, but if it happened, does the summoning fail? Or are you not even supposed to use those circles for enemy summons? I feel like I should, because I need to keep track of them, so I know which enemies drop coins.

Jaws of the Lion back in stock for US/AU, soon for EU/UK and elsewhere

Sorry for the slightly spammy post, but I had a few people that wanted me to let them know when JOTL was back in stock but I lost track of who they were. Therefore, I just wanted to post here that JOTL is back in stock at Cephalofair.com and likely other retailers shortly.

As of now, Frosthaven should be not far behind, and Buttons and Bugs and Merc Packs are trending towards early fall. (As well as the Pub Crawlers release)

(Minis/RPG still slated for December-February fulfillment)

Deathwalker and scenario 64

Playing scenario 64 with Deathwalker. After round 10 we read as instructed >!and it was especially bad for Deathwalker because all shadows were deleted!<. Do y’all use custom rules to change this >! To allow shadows to be moved to the center map along with summons? !<

(Spoiler - Coral) Going Tank build. 3 tick perk. Yes or No.

So I'm about to build coral and I'm going tank build. I'll be coming in at level two after retiring two characters so I can get the triple perk for water advantage immediately, but I'm not sure if it's worth it as I won't be doing a lot of water placement.

My current party makeup is a level 6 bannerspear who will retire in two sessions probably. A level three Shackles and someone will be bringing in a level 2 meteor which we just unlocked and I didn't fancy because I've just retired my Trap.

I've decided I want to do the coral tank build and I know it can use water but I won't be placing it a lot because of having four party members and meateor's difficult terrain.

So is the general consensus to still take the water advantage because it's so powerful or it isn't worth it on the tank build?

Silent Knife Level 9 Card Clarification

Hired Help is a persistent effect card. The way it’s written can be interpreted at least two ways from my perspective:

 1. you can use it once, and it’s persistent to remind you the enemy stays enhanced forever.

 2. you can, at any point and repeatedly, pay a loot token to an adjacent normal enemy to turn them.

I’m assuming it’s a single use card, and at the time it is played you must spend a single loot token to turn a single adjacent enemy? And then it’s dormant as an effect?

Fungal Monk preview will go up tomorrow, here are all the card teasers for it so far

Three of these will be going up later today on Instagram, so you can see them here first. The others were shown previously on social media and in the three previews so far.

The Fungal Monk preview should go out Wednesday to the insider newsletter, and then up on social media Thursday.

EDIT: Quick context so it's not confusing: Cephalofair has announced Pub Crawlers, an expansion to Buttons and Bugs. The articles above preview the expansion. It includes two new classes, the Fungal Monk and the Whistlecry. This week's preview (which will go out tomorrow if you're subscribed to the Insider Newsletter and otherwise go up Thursday on social media) will look at the Fungal Monk, so this post is recapping the various teaser cards that have bene shown in previews so far. Hope that helps!

Line of Sight with Melee AOE

Can the Orchid Spellweaver attack Enemy 3 with the Heatwave ability, if it has an attack pattern featured? We're seeing some conflicting answers.

Thanks in advance!

Gloomhaven 2e Sun Class Guide?

Hello folks! There is scant available for Gloomhaven 2e Class Guides. Are there any recommended guides for the 2e version of the Sun Class; alternatively, how closely is the Sun Class to it's 1e counterpart?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Is it allowed to loop City Event -> Donation -> Road Event over and over?

The rules say that I can only visit Gloomhaven after completing a scenario and have to do a road event to get to the next scenario. Also, donations can only be done once per visit.

So I was wondering, can't I basically skip the scenario part by immediately conceding? It seems like I don't lose anything when a scenario is failed. Which would mean, I could infinitely repeat a cycle of

 1. Do city event (optionally donate)
 2. Do road event to travel to a random scenario
 3. Don't even build the dungeon and just say I lost, go back to Gloomhaven

I feel like this is cheating, as I could just go through the entire City and Road event decks over and over and get infinite resources and max out reputation, prospertiy, checkmarks and experience points without doing a single scenario, since some of the cards go under the deck again.

This has to be against the rules, right? I mean, it's sure is against the spirit of the game. But it doesn't seem to be preventing it.

Summon conditions

Hello everyone, apologies if this has been asked before but I could not find it in the rules. The following scenario happened today during our game. I was playing boneshaker and had a summon out, then:

Round starts:

- Enemy immobilizes my summon

- My turn, summon attacks melee without needing to move

- I want to play card to make my summon move but...

Is the summon still immobilized until the end of my turn or does it go away after they already "went"?

How is Silent Knife gold addiction balanced?

I’m considering retiring my Music Note, and put my brain on pause by playing the Silent Knife. Looking at the cards and perks, I clearly see this class has a loot addiction. There are perks that will make me rich with no impact to my companions (like the city event thing). But I feel the Silent Knife’s mobility and card actions make it particularly good at looting any room. This is probably at the expense of my companions’ own ability to gain gold (because I’ll do so faster, better, and in a more action effective way).

My question is : is this supposed to be balanced? I mean, is the class supposed to actually need that much gold to enhance their cards so I keep up with what my companions do? Or is this a real advantage that I’m getting, effectively robbing my companions of what I was supposed to share?

Help; Personal Quest says the character "does not add the normal events for their classes retirement".

Specifically, the Personal Quest has us add a specific Personal Quest # to the deck. Does this suggest we don't then add the one random Personal Quest to the deck in addition? 133.4 if anyone wants to check.

Frosthaven battlegoals

Does anyone have a list of all the battlegoals?

The reason I am asking is that, when playing digital i keep forgetting all about I during play, which usually results in failing it. Therefore I was planning on printing a page with all of them that I could have in front of me during play.
