My honest review of Google's AI Music (Lyria 3): Incredible vocal stems, absolutely toxic moderation.

Hey everyone,

I’ve spent some time testing Google’s new music generation capabilities (powered by Lyria 3 inside Google Vids) on a 3-month free trial tier. I wanted to see how it stacked up against Suno, specifically as a tool to generate raw material for a serious audio engineering pipeline (UVR5 stem splitting -> Applio voice cloning -> Logic Pro).

I just burned through 10 of my 20 monthly full-song generations fighting an invisible, broken moderation filter, and I'm officially giving it the thumbs down. Here is my breakdown of the pros, the cons, and the absolute insanity of the safety filters.

The Pros (The Potential)

  • Pristine Vocal Tracks: If you can actually get it to accept your lyrics, the vocal output is remarkably clean. Compared to Suno—which notoriously suffers from heavy, muddy data compression on vocals—Google gives you a sharp, high-fidelity vocal track.
  • Perfect for Stem Splitting: Because the vocal clarity is so high, pulling the vocals out via UVR5 to feed into Applio for a voice clone works beautifully. It saves a massive amount of corrective EQ and spectral cleanup in post-production.

The Cons (The Friction)

  • The Export Hoop: Google Vids is a video editor first. You cannot just export a WAV or MP3. You are forced to place the music on a canvas and export it as an MP4 video file, meaning you have to strip the audio out manually in DaVinci Resolve or Audacity afterward.
  • Prompt Disconnect: The musical backing styles are incredibly literal and hard to steer compared to Suno's tag-cloud style prompting.

The Dealbreaker: The Insane Moderation & "Automated Substitution"

The safety filters act like a completely blind, blunt instrument that actively punishes creativity. When a lyric prompt triggers a hidden flag, the system doesn’t just give you an error message—it executes Automated Substitution. It silently wipes your custom text and generates corporate-safe, algorithmic filler lyrics while still charging you a generation credit.

Worse, it is completely volatile and arbitrary. I had a nostalgic, gritty prog-rock track with the lyric "smoking ciggies behind the trees" that sailed through perfectly under a "1960s pop" style prompt. But when I changed the style tag to "Pink Floyd style slow prog rock," the filter panicked and threw it out.

I tried to sanitize it by changing the line to "playing tag behind the trees"—and it still failed moderation. A hyper-literal safety script parsed "scraped knees" and "playing tag behind trees" in a moody rock context and flagged it as child endangerment.

Final Verdict

How can you fix a prompt when you don't even know what's broken? Without a targeted highlight of the flagged words or a human appeals process, creators are left blindly guessing in the dark while their monthly limits burn away.

If you want to use it strictly as an instrumental loop machine or a place to generate a generic vocal line to clone later, there is technical potential there. But if you spend hours writing your own lyrics and want a true creative collaborator, this digital nanny is not it. Back to Suno I go.

Google Omni Ignored the Reference Image

I uploaded these two images to Google Omni: a reference image of the kid with red hair and a video of the kid with yellow hair. I asked the model to replace the kid's hair in the video with the hairstyle from the reference image, but this was the result—it made the hair curly instead.

Why did Google remove the 1,000 monthly AI Studio credits?

I'm genuinely confused as to why Google AI has become so much worse.

Ever since Google removed the 1,000 monthly AI Studio credits from the subscription, which was one of the main reasons I signed up, it feels like the token limits have been massively reduced.

I used to be able to work with 500k+ tokens in a session without hitting usage limits. Now, I get stopped somewhere between 50k–150k tokens, and it isn't even consistent. Sometimes it cuts me off earlier, sometimes later.

To make things even more frustrating, there's no usage tracker or reset timer, so you're left guessing when your quota will reset. It's basically a guessing game.

First, Google removed the $300 AI Studio trial credits. Then they introduced a subscription with 1,000 monthly credits, which convinced me to subscribe. Now they've removed those as well and replaced them with vague marketing like "4× more" or "5× more" usage without clearly explaining what that actually means.

What exactly am I paying for? The experience feels significantly worse than it did before, and the lack of transparency around usage limits is incredibly frustrating.

Whats happening with image generation?

I cant use any of my apps anymore with image generation because it says i would need a API key. Did they removed free qouta for image generation entirely from the platform? I thought they just changed the image model but no matter what i do nothing changes.

In the free tier, Nano Banana (gemini-2.5-flash-image) was removed from AI Studio. It was replaced with Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image (gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image).

Apk output

At first, Ai Studio was generating a file called apk output, which has the apk file of the app

but after while this file isn't produced again, the only way to test the app is by using the usb connection method

so is there any way to fix this?

Duplicating a project - new database

When I Remix a project to start a new app based on the current app, it continues to use the old databases.

What is the best way to duplicate the entire firebase setup and move to a new one?

Google AI Studio GitHub sync fails even after revoking and reinstalling GitHub App permissions

Hi everyone,

I am having a persistent issue with the GitHub integration in Google AI Studio.

When I try to use **Sync to GitHub**, AI Studio shows the following error:

> Failed to load file differences, The GitHub repository could not be found, or you lack permissions. Please ensure the AI Studio GitHub App is installed.

The repository is shown correctly in AI Studio and the branch is `main`, but the sync panel cannot load the file differences.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps multiple times:

- Revoked the Google AI Studio / AI Studio GitHub App access from GitHub.
- Reinstalled the GitHub App.
- Reconfigured repository access.
- Tried both “all repositories” access and selected repository access.
- Confirmed that the target repository is included in the GitHub App permissions.
- Tried reconnecting from the **Configure App** button inside AI Studio.
- Logged out and back in.
- Refreshed AI Studio after reinstalling permissions.
- Tried the same flow multiple times in Safari.
- Tried the same flow multiple times in Brave.
- Tried private/incognito browser windows in both Safari and Brave.
- Cleared/restarted the browser sessions and repeated the authorization flow.

Despite all of this, AI Studio still shows the same error and cannot load the GitHub diff.

The error message suggests either the repository cannot be found or the app lacks permissions, but from the GitHub side the AI Studio GitHub App appears to be installed and has access to the repository.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known workaround, cache delay, repository naming issue, or backend-side reset required for the AI Studio GitHub integration?

Any help from the Google AI Studio team or anyone who has solved this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Deploying/publishing an app

Is there anyone in this group who has successfully published an app? What did you do and what steps did you take? Was it through Google Cloud Run, or did you add it to the Android App Store, or something else? What would you recommend for a beginner?

Telemetry blox (blocker) | Studio.lab | V1.2-release

Let me know in the comments if this breaks the site. But I've checked it, and everything's fine.

I've added telemetry blocker. Nah idk, you can still use uBlock origin.

Github - https://github.com/dorimommy/Studio.lab
If you super lazy - https://github.com/dorimommy/Studio.lab/archive/refs/tags/v1.2-release.zip

How to install ask AI.

(I'm offended because I wrote you an interesting (imo) post, and you don't even know how to read (I didn't expect such herd behavior))

Free ULTRA, yay!! (clickbait, fr, fr ,fr)

Fun fact: AI Studio's UI is entirely trust-based. If you intercept the GetAiStudioBenefitTier RPC call on a Free account and change the [0] or [] response to [2], the frontend instantly gives you the "ULTRA" badge.

All paid banners disappear, and it actually lets you click "Run" on restricted paid models (Nano banana family or Gemini 2.5 family).

But Google's backend isn't stupid. When the GenerateContent request fires, the server validates your auth token. Realizing you're a free user pinging a paid model, it just gaslights the client with a 404 Not Found error for that model.

GenerateContent -> Payload

Ehh.

Has anyone seen this before?

I gave it a prompt to do some work and it started alright, then I noticed it was saying weird shit. So I pulled up it’s thinking process and it was just stuff like this. And it just kept going and going. I had to cancel the prompt. I’ve never seen this before.

Please Read this if you use Google AI studio for development

Recently whenever I use the Gemini 3.5 flash model, it instantly shows the model quota limit reached and error messages over and over even if I wait for the reset to happen and then next day the first request shows this again.

Are anyone having this experience, please comment to let me know so I can make sure it is a problem from the side of google and not my Gemini api key problem🙂..

Is there anyone still using Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Studio?

I love its writing style. I still use it to make notes from lectures which it does beautifully. No other model can match its style.

But for the last 2 days, it is not working properly. Always getting the Internal Error Message and in few requests quota is getting exhausted.

I purely taken the AI Pro Subscription to use Gemini 2.5 Pro in AI Studio.

No one is looking into this issue, I raised it in the Developers Forum. The model is going to get deprecated by October 16. Hence I wish to use it to the fullest before it's demise.

Any Google Team Members if here, Kindly look into this issue. Don't ruin the great model ever created by you.

AI Studio vs Antigravity 2.0 • What are the actual differences?

Hey, folks!

Apologies for a stupid question, I tried googling and talking to Gemini about it, but didn’t quite grasp the actual differences, or, rather, how the “building” part differs between them.

Here is a chat with Gemini (my first time sharing a chat with an LLM, lol):

https://share.gemini.google/yhjFzafN8qP6

What I want to know what are the actual differences between, say, building an Android app in AI Studio and Antigravity 2.0? What about web app? Rust-based apps?

Personally, I have been using AI Studio for quite a long time, since it is a free access to decent Gemini models in a quite customizable environment — Gemini, in my experience, was almost always pretty bad. I remember, about 2 years ago, trying to “teach” different (free) LLMs to translate a documentation in my style, like actual usage of specific words, using proper quotation marks, etc. I tried Gemini, AI Studio, Claude (I think?), DeepSeek, and ChatGPT — AI Studio was the best, albeit not perfect.

Not saying Gemini is bad now, I just started using it more heavily, since I paid for Google AI Pro subscription.

The same goes for Antigravity — I just kicked off my half-vibecoding project, never really tried it before. Wanted to build an app with Antigravity 2.0 (I use Zed as an IDE) and paid for the sub.

TL;DR:

Right now, I, relatively uninformed dude regarding such stuff, see Google AI Studio as an advanced chat interface for Gemini models, while Antigravity 2.0 is, basically, the same, but it works locally with all the benefits of doing so — that is about it, pretty much. I wonder if I am correct and if not what are the actual differences between these up-to-date tools.
