VIM in its current state is NOT worth $10/mo (some changes that make it worth it/how you can help)
As a (soon to not be) VIM subscriber, I wanted to talk about this.
Currently, you only get access to:
* the 3rd floor of shop (where you can buy flashback items and VIM reskins of flashback cosmetics)
* hand tracking and body tracking (which will be coming to everyone soon *PLUS* steam doesn’t get it)
* the lava map (everyone had it two years ago)
* 20 player servers (which are completely dead)
* a yellow name plate
* exclusive access to channels in the discord (most gorilla tag players aren’t old enough for discord/don’t bother setting it up/don’t have it)
Here’s some ways that it could become worth it:
* give a shiny rocks boost for VIM players, for example:
- VIM players could earn more shiny rocks daily, like 200 instead of 100
- VIM players could get a small discount on items in the shop, such as 5000 shiny rock items costing 4800 or 4500
- VIM players could get a small boost in shiny rock purchases, such as $10 of shiny rocks for 2500 instead of 2200 for non VIM players
* lower the price monthly for VIM from $10 to maybe $5 instead.
I keep looking back at Early Access. As someone who bought early access it was far more worth it than VIM. With early access you got 10 cosmetics, 3 of which being exclusive to early access (the early access badge, yellow hat, and silver cowboy hat). It was a one time purchase and had more value than the subscription service has for a single month. With VIM, you still have to buy all the cosmetics in the VIM room at normal prices.
All of this to say, that VIM could be something better than it is at the moment.
What can *YOU* do to help influence the future of VIM?
Vote with your wallets. If you feel like everything I described today is a good point, unsubscribe from VIM! And better yet, don’t buy any shiny rocks.
Hit them where they’ll notice it. They’re profits.
