At first I saw gameplay I didnt think it was going to be for me and decided to pass on it. Then I played the demo and was kind hooked from there, and I wanted to test whether my PC can handle it and it could without frame gen in the demo. In the base game performance is decent for my mid-low end pc. The demo made me feel like I was immersed and after playing 2 hours I think im in for the long haul! Im a serial game hopper so if this keeps my attention then its a real one for sure. Id love to know any tips or overall advice for enjoying this seemingly slow burn game. I am now looking to join the swamp and be a two handed weed dealing brute lol. combat has been easy so far for me so that's been good, on Gothic diff and only died a few times to gators lol. Anyways would love to hear from the community!

This game. This game showed up on my Steam page as a recent release and I saw some really good reviews and I thought; you know what, fuck it, let’s drop 50 bucks and give it a shot.

This is easily the best game I have played in like 12 years. The last time I felt this much joy and passion for a game was when I discovered Dead Space as an early Teen, or when Elden Ring released. The story, the game development, the attention to detail; it is all so so so good. I just beat the game for the first time and I cried once I realized that there was no post-game and my story had reached its end.

I’m so thankful to have experienced this and to know now that there are still games out there that will have me excited to come home, sit down, and just have a great time. Thank you to all the developers for their passion and commitment put into this game. Carry on my fellow heroes!

should i just go strength all the way or should i invest in onehanded or hunting or acrobatics or 2 handed ?

Never played a Gothic game but saw a lot of positive things said about the remake so I went ahead and gave it a shot. What is going on? I found two "Bandits" and one of them attempts to lead me to his camp before dying to random mobs in the woods lol. I arrive at this camp anyway and am told to do slave labor. The slaves tell me its a trick and they will just have me do this forever so I don't do it. Every NPC is unhelpful and I find myself just stuck lol. No map. Just a sword and a bow with 5 arrows. Wolves are 1 shotting me. I have no where to sleep.

Maybe I'm too used to being handheld in games but I'm just so lost. I found the cave where there's a bunch of crystals under a grate. The mage is zero help. I get told I can sleep in a guys house which I find and try speaking to him. Nothing. I attack him, he one shots me and takes my stuff.

Can't do the tavern quest because I'm literally not allowed in. Any advice for this rut I am in?

I joined the new camp and still cannot figure this out.

the only two places' people are reporting are off y'berion before end of chapter 2, or in chapter 5. I really don't want to wait the whole game to get this. does anyone know if it's in a chest anywhere? the Baal doesn't sell it.

And this is perhaps because I am not the best player but did it seem kinda hard at the beginning? It took me a long while to even figure out how to survive, even in the Old Camp, at first.

I am slowly starting to get the hang of it but I still am weak as a kitten. I am thinking of venturing out and finding one critter at a time near the camp and scum saving and fighting to beef up a little.

Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

Every guide shows the cheese methed of nuking from corner, then restocking mana, and repeat, or stand next to out of its range and cheese slap it that way, but both are no longer possible. With the ranged corner method, she resets HP, and theres no longer melee deadzone.

Im level 12, about 50 strength, got full upgraded (highest tier) Old Camp shadow tier armor (w/e it's called), and acrobatics trained...

Even then it still slaps me for 40% HP at high speed, and my hits barely hit for 3% HP. Between the dodge attempts, then even the minions start hitting you. It seems inpossible to get damage in...

I feel this isn't a Dark Souls "Git Gud" thing, It just feels completely game breaking. Should I now just grind up to level 20 to even stand a chance?

After the first armor upgrade and buying the highest tier upgrades for them, I noticed something odd:

Lurker, 170xp, does 15 damage.

Wolf- 90xp, does 1 damage.

Adult Scavenger- 80xp, does 1 damage.

Lizard- 80xp, does 1 damage.

Bloodfly- 50xp, does 32 damage.

So... a monster that is more than triple the xp does less than half the damage of a bloodfly. Everything inbetween is relegated to the "joke tier".

I imagine this is due to bloodflies doing pierce damage. I actually think 32 damage is more than appropriate for this stage in the game, on hard difficulty. It makes a swarm of them fun to fight. A pack of wolves or scavengers can't do anything to you, which is the real shame here.

Solution is obviously to boost the damage of the weaker monsters to be in line with the bloodfly, give them a hybrid damage type, or nerf the amount of blade/blunt protection armor gives.

Nobody in their right mind thinks this is balanced.

After the things happening at the end of chapter 3 I got back later into the old camp and started to fight everyone and kill gomez, didn't know you can do that because in the original he is like invincible until chapter 5 I believe.

Now the upper part of the old camp is dead, gomez is dead and I got the best armor in the game.

But for some reason that feels "wrong" ? Gomez didn't say a single sentence and seemed a little bit buggy, in the original you can't kill him until chapter 5 etc.

It feels like the intended way for doing it is chapter 5 because you get actual dialog with gomez and it seems like the game reacts the right way when doing it in chapter 5, don't know if its just something they forget to patch in or if they will make him invincible later on.

Kinda on the bring to reload the game and just wait with doing that for chapter 5 when its intended.

Did you kill him early because of the stuff that happens or did you wait until the game tells you to do to him ?

Heya - i am playing a melee focussed character, just got lvl2 one hand, joines new camp and killed the minecrawler queen. I invested most points in str, but some in magic and use fire arrow quite a lot. I am using the mace from the guy in the new camp mine that wantes graoes and stuff (beat him up for being a dick). I found a lvl 5 or 6 spell, fire rain? And like the high lvl spells i get from scrolls, fireball, lightning ball?

My question is - i would lilw to learn 2h and mainly play witht that. But spells are cool, how far can i get into magic while still investing mainly into str and combat? Is thrid cricle feasible, 4th, 5th?

I am fine with sticking to close combat mainly, but if there is a way to get both.... or do i just use scrolls. I learn d how to craft them.

Or am i gonna have a master of none build that struggles lategame. I play on hard and honestly would not have beaten the queen in close combat. Fireballed her with scrolls and fire arrowed her to death while smoking like a madman.

I am trying to do overachiever achievement, I joined the old camp and I'm in ch3. If i join the fire mages, will i be able to learn fighting with 2 handed weapons from Lee later?

The issue is i can't add to any stat because all skill alone require level 44. So i thought access to runes as a mage would make it easier. But then i can't learn 2 handed weapons form Thorus. The only other teacher is Lee, but i can't remember if he teaches you in ch4 if you're a fire mage in ch3 (played the original as a mage like 2 decades ago).

As a first time gothic-er I had no idea about the Diego list locking you out of joining thing and had done the quest before ever getting to the new camp. Not gonna start over but man I rly wanted to be in the camp actually trying to break out like my character wants. On x box so I can’t do the mod thing unfortunately

Ich stecke im neuen Lager unter dem Haus mit der Truhe fest. Man findet dort 6 Ditriche und eine Unterwasser-Truhe. Weil ich es nicht gepackt habe das Schloss unter den ersten 3 mal zu schaffen, da ich den Skill noch nicht habe, wollte ich speichern. Deshalb bin ich in die Ecke, zu dem Geröll und habe mich zwischen schwimmenden Fässern auf eine Vase gestellt. Nach dem speichern kam ich nicht mehr raus🫣

Nach dem neu laden auch nicht, da ich dann in so ne schwarze Zwischenebene zwischen Gebäude und überflutetem Keller geladen werde..

Mein letzter spielstand (manuell) ist 3 stunden her, der automatische über eine Stunde mit 5 geknackten schlössern..

Ka ob ich das nochmal machen will, ich spiele dazu halt auf Schwer, weswegen Kämpfe ne Tortur sind...💀
