EHX Super Ego (not +)

Hi everyone, curious on the standard (now discontinued) model of Super Ego. I really want to get into ambient stuff for frozen/ glitch pads etc.

I record directly into reaper, so the live performance issue is only for creating on the fly in my studio. I love the idea of using my pedals to warp and use them as instrument in real time.

My current ambient pedals (not in order..):

-boss dd-6
- Caroline kilobyte
- boss rv-5
- jhs iii chorus
- ehx 360

Does anyone really use Coil split in Humbuckers?

HI!

I am just trying to get some opinions from fellow Guitar lovers.

I have one guitar with Coil Split HH, but I really do not find a use for it.

For me, it is a great project, thing to "say" -I installed my Humbuckers with Coil split"

But for real, the only use I COULD find is, if you are in a cover band and want to sound similar to let's say, Clapton in his Strat era, SRV, Some funk, and then, you want also some heavier rock sounds and you do not want o be carrying a second guitar or an EQ to cut the Humbucker extra fatness.

But I do not really find the use.

Does anyone have a different opinion? I would love to know your use cases, real life situations or if it at least has made you sale a guitar that already has Coil split Humbuckers, for an extra $$

First vs Current Rig

I got my first guitar when I was 13, an RJ Guitars, a local Filipino brand. I played it through a Danelectro distortion pedal plugged into my dad's home theatre speakers.

Now, this is my rig.

I'd love to see how far everyone has come. Drop a photo of your first rig vs. your current rig in the comments!

New Tele: Buying advice?

Instruments I’m looking at for a pretty traditional T-style guitar. I live pretty rural, and traveling to try them is impossible currently. This would be my first electric guitar, and hopefully something that will last. I’m hoping to play classic country thru cow punk, rockabilly, punk, reggae, and ska. Options:

Schecter PT Special (purple burst) - $750
PRS SE NF 53 (white dog hair) - $930
Yamaha PACS+11S SC Standard (no pref) - $1000
Larrivee Baker-T Traditional (natty rosewood) - $1690

Clearly the Larrivee is a budget stretch and to make it work, amp budget will be compromised. The reviews online are pretty dang amazing for a traditionally set up T-style and I believe that setup is where I really am. I have upmost faith in Yamaha’s quality. The Schecter looks amazing and has good reviews also. PRS suits the band geek in me. All advice is welcome. 🙏

Bedroom warriors, digital or “real gear”?

People who only play at home, do you play digital (modelers, QC, plugins, etc.) or do you use “real gear” (amps, pedals, etc.)? Maybe something in between?

Positive Grid Reactor vs Katana 50 Gen 3

I recently got the katana 50 with a PRS NF3. I will use this for church worship and jamming with family and friends.

I mainly use my Acoustic guitar (Martin D13e) for this, I see that the Katana has an acoustic preset. Usually we have a sound system mixer and I don’t need an amp for the acoustic.

With the new purchase I got the Positive Grid Neo. I am an electric guitar newbie but I have been playing acoustic for some years.

I see a lot of use with the NF3 and the Neo specially the app. Unfortunately, I cannot output whatever presets I have with the Neo to the Katana (unless I am mistaken).

With the Good experience I have with the Spark app I was wondering If it would be a good idea to “trade in” the katana for the 50 watt version of the Reactor.

I know the Katana has the app as well but I need to buy the $50 BT dongle (which I bought has not arrived yet). The AI features of the Spark app seems very interesting, the play along that generates the chords of whatever song is also something I use (also my kids use).

I am wondering what I will miss if I did “trade in” the katana for the Reactor. The Reactor is so new that I could not find a head to head on them yet.

Is it correct to assume that I can use the Neo and the Reactor with the same app?

Any input would be appreciated.

3 years of guitar, little experience with pedals. Couple questions for gearheads.

  1. Are non-Dunlop Wah pedals worth it? They’re a lot cheaper but I don’t want a piece of crap.

  2. What distortion pedals are best? I’ve got a big muff on loan from a friend, but once he wants it back what should I get? (I’m guessing Marshall MG50FX built in overdrive won’t cut it)

  3. Anything else necessary? I have a Sheeran + looper but other than that I don’t actually own any pedals. Preferably budget-ish, I’m a high schooler earning like 100 bucks a week from maccas.

Harmonized Guitar Pedal

I know this topic must have been covered before, but I’m gonna reintroduce it cause there’s new pedals available that sound
Like the Scorpions-“No one Like You”,…for example, they all sound way too Synthesized ..AND I’m tired of spending money on Harmonizer pedals..The Boss PS6…is HORRIBLE ..Tried a bunch of EHX pedals..Nothing!!
Anybody found… that perfect tone..without a 2nd guitarist? And not a synthesizer? I know that it’s a a product of the harmonics..if nobody knows…I’ve been designing and redesigning pedals for that clean 3rd down or up sound..Ratt’s “Round and Round”..There’s a copy of Guitar World, that transcribes that song..,but it has the tab, for..supposedly, Robin Crosby (RIP!) playing the dry notes and a 3rd down..one note is a 4th down..It’s incredibly hard to play that perfectly..But I’ve been trying, since I got that issue..it’s mostly shifts on the E & B strings, adjusting the B fret sometimes, up or down..I want a pedal to do that..I’m working on it, but I have to find the right circuit..to give the PERFECT, one guitarist twin harmony tone? I could use anyone’s help!f

Thanx..ANY input would be much appreciated
