Looking for Custom Scale Design Software

I'm in the process of trying to build a pan with a scale that will do well with cover songs. I think I've settled on an idea, but I want to know how it will work. For that, I was hoping to find a website or something that will let me build a custom scale. I've seen a few, but they will only do a few specific scales or allow adjustments by a few semi-tones. I'm hoping to find something that will let me fully customize the number of tone fields and specific notes for those tone fields, including bottom notes. Any suggestions?

Tongue Drum w/Max Chords

I currently play handpan (and guitar) and I'm thinking about getting a tongue drum because of the soft sound and high sustain. For that reason, I think this instrument would be great for playing chords, but I am wondering which tongue drum can give me the maximum number of chords. At first I was looking at Rav Anima, but since it's in a Celtic scale there are chords that I can only get by playing inversions; basically anything involving an F in the 3 or 5 position (B and D chords). I love that it has lots of notes, but the hexatonic Celtic scale is pretty limiting.

Suggestions?

Timbre and Characteristics of Handpan Materials

Is there a resource that clearly illustrates the timbre and characteristic differences between the various handpan materials? It's hard to tell by video the differences between nitrited, stainless, carbon, and ember steel. Thanks!

Gongfu Supply Suggestions

I've really fallen in love with brewing tea in the gongfu style. I didn't care much for tea before, but now it's really opened up the world of tea for me.

I've got a gaiwan that I like pretty well, but I would love to find a good fairness decanter, and possibly upgrade some of my cheaper beginner supplies.

Where do you like to shop for quality supplies?

Infuser Leaking

I got this infuser a couple of months ago from Ali Express because it's more simple than my gongfu set. I've largely enjoyed it with only a few minor annoyances; it doesn't pour cleanly, the metal collar gets very hot making it difficult to open when brewing is done, etc.

Today it's developed a leak at the joint between where the tea is held and the metal collar. I've checked that it's on tight. The rubber seal looks to be in good condition. There's no tea trapped in the threads.

It does look like the portion that holds the tea is slightly askew, but I can't see any obvious reason for that.

I'm at a loss here. Is this just the result of cheap Chinese products?

Hybrid Handpan and Tongue Drum

Has anyone here seen one of these in person? I haven't been able to find many videos, let alone with good sound quality, but this is the best one that I could find. I'm curious if anyone here has played one of these and are willing to share their impressions.

Mythical Lamp Exchange

I can make Rustic mythical lamps, I'm looking to trade for Natural mythical lamps.

I'm looking for 30 or more. I can make an equal number of Rustic lamps, or maybe other mythical items.

If you're game, or anyone else wants to offer similar trades, my handle is: GaetKaan

Uses for Lagomorph Essence

I’ve got over 950 joyous lagomorph essence, but I don’t see anything at the crafting station to spend it on. Deer essence is for making mythical items, bird essence for legendary items, but I see nothing for lagomorph essence. I don’t want to sell it, but I don’t see what I can do with it. Am I missing something?

T Triggers My Depression

I've struggled with pretty severe depression all of my life and when I first smoked cannabis, I noticed that my mood greatly improved. It was illegal at the time (1990) and I was a broke student at the time, so I could only smoke about once a week. At that pace it was a genuine benefit to my mental health.

Fast forward to the end of prohibition on CA and I started smoking again. It had the same benefit in the short term, but I started smoking daily and I noticed that even if I was mentally doing well, after a week of daily use my depression would kick in.

I wish that I could be a weekly smoker, because I think that would be good for me. However I have difficulty regulating my use. If it's in the house, I'm smoking it. I guess that's another way of saying "addiction".

Does anyone else have the experience of regular T use triggering depression?

Level Up Handpan

Looking for the best handpan advice on the interwebs!

I bought a custom Celtic D from Hamsa a few years back (standard 9 plus a B to make it diatonic and an F# for scale switching). It's a lovely instrument, but it's time for an upgrade. There's a lot of music that I want to play, but there's not enough. I have played guitar for most of my life, so I'm used to being able to play any tune I want without limitation. I'm looking for a "universal" instrument. I'm not going to buy multiple handpans. I don't have the money for that, but I can buy one really good one.

I'm wanting something that has the following attributes. I don't know if this exists or is even possible. I live in southern California and would prefer a local maker, but that's not critical.

  1. Full diatonic scale (natural scale preferred)

  2. Maximum chord possibilities

  3. Multiple dings

I've ordered a magnetic pickup for my handpan, I have a pedal board and a PA amp, which is capable of handling a wide range of sound (I use it for voice, guitar, and bass). The pickup, pedals, and amp all have their own power supply. Do I need a preamp?
