For those of you who’ve participated at a regionals event

How was it? Was it sick? How did you like the participation cards? How many matches did you play? Any other cool shit to do/purchase while there?

I’m thinking about going to one - seeing what everyone thought of their experience

Newbie Question

Hi! I’m having a bit of a hard time getting the new set GD05 Freedom Ascension, which of the other sets should I focus on getting instead? What would be really good if I plan to build my deck? Aside from the started deck.

Which works better?

Wanted to make a fun non-meta aggro deck with Phantom Pain. Currently these are the cards that I currently own as well as the number of copies for. Open to hearing suggestions, what should add, keep, take out etc. Also would like to hear how this archetype works for you if you run it.

How does Barbatos/Tekk play?

IBO is my favorite, and I'd love to main a deck with any Barbatos as the boss unit. I've been testing out this list and having some trouble. Am I supposed to be an aggro deck? Or more mid-range? Because I seem to get out aggro'd when my opp swarms the board, and on more than one occasion I'll settle into a groove only to get got by that one Blue Unit (Freedom, I think, the one who draws when it kills stuff and sends my units back). Then sometimes blockers just ruin my day. It just feels kinda off. Sometimes Barbatos comes down and can pick off several units and I can feel the momentum shift, other times the deck just feels slow and clunky, and I don't know if that's me, the current build, or what.

I play mostly MSA as I'm still working on a physical deck, but I wanna get reps in for when I can go play irl. I wanna stay mono purple for prive and simplicity, barring the white for OA since I already have a set. I'd appreciate just some insight as to how to generally play this type of deck.

G GUNDAM rocks my deck

Overall, I had to keep reminding my opponent about their effects, but regardless, they had the game in their hands. With their spot removal and some misplays, I allowed them to take it back, as I believe they were still learning their deck at the time of the recording.

It was L for us, a bit frustrating, but at the end of the day, it's just a game to have fun with. I know some people take it seriously, but I'm pretty chill about most things. Though I did get a little upset that I had to keep reminding him about the abilities and effects when the last one was on my turn, and I already drew my card. If this were a tournament or NTC, most players would tell him, "Oh well, sorry it's my turn now."

We live, and we learn from this experience and continue to improve.

Thank you for allowing me to post my content here as we continue to grow our channel day by day.

PR Vulture deck advice.

PR Vulture deck advice.

Still testing on Leopard Destroy/ X divider.

Leopard is useful for taking down enemy units but the +1 body on board of X divider is also very valuable, X divider had the drawback of only having units as low as cost 2 for its effect needing to be at least lv 7 to be useful but now having Exia Repair it can now be used to take down any pesky blockers while maintaining curve. Leopard Destroy combo well with red damage but can only combo with darkness finger while lv6.

What do you think of it? Should if try to fit some Gundam X 5/3? Does Ennil still has a spot because of Exia?

How does Minerva play?

Like the title says, how do Minerva decks usually play? Kinda window shopping atm and thought Destiny Gundam looked sick as hell and love it as like a boss unit. Been trying a lot of decks and builds on MSA, and so far really liked an aggro purple/green list, but MAN Barbatos(s) and Zaku2 rack up the price of a deck real quick. Could Minerva be built aggro? Or would it be more midrange/control? Any input would be appreciated

Also, I'm sure the GD05 Destiny is like a one off at most, but AGAIN dude that art is clean af.

Perfect 3-0 at locals with Pain Kids

I've been running this deck with mixed results for the last couple of weeks and then out of nowhere I completely rolled over locals with it. Three games and I never even lost ex base. Every dog has his day I guess.

How do you guys find structure decks in Canada

How do you guys find Gundam TCG starter decks in Canada? I’m trying to get into the game without overpaying, and I’m looking for ST7 or ST9.

Purple Mill Rex

What do you guys think?

I've been out of the loop for a while and was wondering if this deck makes sense in the current meta.

No resources in GD06?

Looking at the booster pack on the new card previews, it seems like GD06 might not be including new Resource cards, either. The pack says 135 + 8 card types, which is fewer than GD05 which included all of the special cards. What a bummer. Collecting whole sets of those was one of my favorite things whenever a new set was introduced. Guess there won't be any GP02 or ZZ head resources. :(

Japanese Newtype Challenge 2026 Mission 4/Store Area Qualifiers Season 1 Deck Distribution for the week ending 16 August has been released!

JP NTC Season 3/4 and Store Area Qualifier Season 1 Deck Colors Usage Rate

Color Combo Kanji 9-Aug 16-Aug Week-on-Week % Change
Blue/Green 青緑 30.3% 29.1% -4.0%
Blue/Purple 青紫 16.2% 14.5% -10.5%
Green/Purple 緑紫 11.1% 12.6% 13.5%
Blue/White 青白 10.2% 12.3% 20.6%
Red/White 赤白 10.5% 10.6% 1.0%
Blue/Red 青赤 7.8% 8.8% 12.8%
Red/Purple 赤紫 3.0% 4.1% 36.7%
Green/White 緑白 4.6% 3.2% -30.4%
Green/Red 緑赤 2.9% 3.0% 3.4%
Purple/White 紫白 3.2% 1.9% -40.6%
Other その他 0.2% 0.0% -100.0%

See here for the previous week's results.

Three weekends into the new season and there is still a lot of movement across the spectrum as the meta continues to find its footing.

BG and BP get slight dips in usage as the next three deck colors (GP, BW, RW) scramble for positions in this section.

Looking at Decks

75 NTC events were held in Japan during the week of 10 to 17 August, adding 680 decks to the GD05 database total, which is now at 1,616 decks across 174 events.

JP NTC Week 2 First Place - Win Rate vs Usage Rate (75 Events Total)

JP NTC Week 2 Top 4 - Win Rate vs Usage Rate (75 Events Total)

JP NTC S4 Week 2 Top 1 vs Top 4 Win Rate (75 Events Total)

JP NTC S4 Month-to-Date Top 1 vs Top 4 Win Rate (174 Events Total)

One thing I'd like to note here is how Green/Purple has a high rate of placing in the top 4, but not having the consistency of translating those Top 4 placements to NTC wins.

Looking at Decks: Beta Edition

This week, I'd like to look at the adoption rates of that other set that came out just before GD05: the ST10/EB01 duology.

The entire release cycle of that set has been mired in criticism from the fanbase, who derided (among a plethora of reasons) the multiplayer focus of the cards, its irrelevance in the competitive space, and taking card production away from much-needed reprints of early Starters and Boosters (the last one being more prominent in the English regions). But ultimately it did leave its mark, and the mostly-positive feedback from players' first multiplayer experience brought about by the sets' launch events gives hope that the release wasn't entirely in vain.

But moving on, does the set have any relevance in the current metagame?

Yes... a bit, I guess.

Se below table for current usage share of all EB01 and ST10 cards in the dataset:

Card ID Card Name % Decks Appeared In Average Card Count
EB01-032 Gundam Ez8 High Mobility Custom 5.32% 2.66
EB01-054 Gaplant TR-5 "Hrairoo" Unit 1 3.90% 2.71
EB01-056 Gundam Geminass 01 0.25% 3.50
EB01-081 MAP Weapon 0.06% 3.00
EB01-011 Beginning Gundam 0.06% 4.00
EB01-083 SP Conversion Chips 0.06% 1.00
EB01-085 Kudelia Aina Bernstein & Isaribi 0.06% 1.00
EB01-014 Gouf Vijayanta 0.06% 2.00
EB01-061 Ellis Claude 0.06% 4.00
EB01-016 Tornado Gundam 0.06% 4.00
EB01-036 Darilbalde 0.06% 2.00
EB01-065 Meir Siva 0.06% 1.00
EB01-038 G-Self 0.06% 2.00
EB01-027 Tallgeese 0.06% 3.00
EB01-066 Reiji 0.06% 4.00
EB01-035 Gundam Lfrith Thorn 0.06% 4.00
ST10-005 Nemo 0.06% 4.00
ST10-002 Zeta Gundam 0.06% 3.00

As everyone may have predicted, the only cards with a somewhat significant usage in the current meta are the generic cards: Gundam Ez8 High Mobility Custom Green ReZEL, Gaplant TR-5 "Hrairoo" Unit 1 Second Rick Dias, and Gundam Geminass 01 White ReZEL. There are also a couple decks which each teched in two EB01 Commands (MAP Weapon and SP Conversion Chips).

But even then, usage of these Units are further hampered by Green aggro wanting Kayra's ReGZ and/or Jegan to join Rick dom in the Lv3 slot, and White... just not seeing much usage this set (as well as the Rick Dias statline continuing to be sidelined in favor of FLAT/Lfrith).

But what about the rest of the cards? Glad you asked, because that was what brought my interest to this topic in the first place. Starting yesterday, there were news that some guy got 2nd at an NTC while using an EB01 deck... and sure enough, it's true!

I do hope that I can get back to posting these things on Monday/early Tuesday (especially since I had most of the data prepared by Monday afternoon), so at least I'm on the right track this week.

It’s working. Updated GW academy control

After play testing the original list along with suggestions from the comments I ended up landing on this being the most functional list. What could be improved?

LGS only giving anniversary resource pack to winners at locals and said they are saving most for the "1 year anniversary event"

Is this the intended distribution of anniversary resource packs? I thought they were given out just like normal participation packs.
