SPOILER: HLE Post Match Interview

Homme and Guma expressed that it feels good to win 2-0 again, though for Guma personally, there are some things that he is disappointed with

Homme on HLE's performance: There were a few moments when we had the advantage but weren’t able to capitalize/maintain it. Still, compared to before, I can see significant improvement in the areas we’ve been focusing on so I definitely feel like we’re in the right direction.

Homme on Draft: Today I think there were a few individual mistakes. But when it came to the draft, I felt like we had the better picks (kept winning the drafts). Our compositions also had strong overall value so I was satisfied with the drafts.

Homme on Game 2 win: The thing I remember the most from this game was the situation around top side where our jungle and support was trying to secure vision but got caught after overextending a bit.

That is something we should definitely work on, so we just need to be more careful and aware in those situations. As for the other players, they generally performed well and it's natural that everyone will have games where things don’t go as smoothly. Overall, I was really impressed with how much they improved compared to what I expected so I’m satisfied with today’s match.

Homme on Delight’s situation: First of all, I’m not sure if my thinking (decisions about the supports) is completely right but I believe Delight has an incredibly high ceiling and I really want to see him reach that potential. Honestly if he had been performing poorly, it would be easier for me to justify the substitutions. With other teams in the past there was often such a clear difference in skill that the decision was straightforward. But in this case, everyone knows how good a player Delight is so I’m doing my best to bring out that side of him. On top of that, he has willingly accepted the situation, and I’m very grateful for that. I know it must have been a difficult decision for him, so I really appreciate his understanding.

Homme regarding supports and Guma: For Minhyung (Gumayusi)..I feel really sorry that he’s had to deal with the difficulties that come with the support changes. At the same time, I felt that making the change was something that had to be done. As for the poor results that came from that decision, I’ll be the one to take the criticism.

Esports Foundation Postpones Inaugural ENC to November 2027

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (August 18, 2026) – The Esports Foundation (EF) today announced that the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC), originally scheduled to take place in November 2026 in Riyadh, will be postponed to November 2027, following ongoing assessment of the wider regional situation, and after consultation with key stakeholders.

Given ENC’s unprecedented international scale and the uncertainty created by the wider regional situation, EF believes moving the inaugural competition to November 2027 is the responsible decision to provide the certainty and stability that National Teams, publishers, partners and fans expect. ENC brings together teams and stakeholders from more than 100 countries and territories. Saudi Arabia remains fully capable of hosting events, with major sporting and entertainment events continuing as planned.

The decision reflects EF’s commitment to delivering a world-class international competition that meets the standards and long-term ambition on which the Esports Nations Cup was founded. The postponement does not change EF’s commitment to the ENC or to the national esports ecosystems already being built around it.

All existing ENC Development Fund commitments to National Team Partners will remain in place. The ENC Development Fund and related ecosystem development programs will continue, alongside ongoing work with publishers, National Team Partners and other stakeholders. EF will work directly with partners on the implications of the revised timeline and the transition towards the inaugural competition in 2027.

“The decision to postpone the Esports Nations Cup was not taken lightly,” said Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports Foundation. “The response from National Team Partners, publishers, players and communities around the world has shown us how much potential this competition has. We owe them an inaugural ENC delivered under the right conditions and at the level this idea deserves. Hosting the tournament in Riyadh next year does not change our commitment. We will continue investing in our National Team Partners, working with publishers and building the national ecosystems already taking shape around the competition. The work continues, and our ambition for ENC remains unchanged.”

The ENC has generated extraordinary momentum around the world. More than 100 countries and territories across every continent have already secured official partner status and will bring together the world’s best players across multiple game titles. Designed to complement the existing esports ecosystem, ENC aims to create new pathways for athletes, strengthen national esports development and build new forms of fandom through national pride and international competition.

Over the coming weeks, EF will continue working closely with National Team Partners, publishers and other stakeholders to provide clarity on the revised competition calendar, qualification pathways and other implications of the new timeline. It hurts that even HLE is aware of this 😢

In their recent behind-the-scenes for their series against KT, HLE players pointed out LCK's somewhat bias against them.

They literally went 15-3 in the first two rounds of the LCK regular season, but had two out of their three losing series comms uploaded while only one out of the fifteen of their winning coms uploaded. Most egregiously, last year, both RTM #1 and #2 seed decider matches' winning comms were uploaded but this year, HLE's winning comm against T1 in the #1 seed decider match was not uploaded whereas the #2 seed (T1 vs Gen G) was uploaded.

LCK also did like a montage thing for the HLE vs KT series; they broadcasted bad plays from KT's bot lane, but broadcasted bad plays from all of HLE's lanes. This difference was also noted by the players.

I'm sure the players don't care that much about this, and it's certainly not that big of a deal, but yeah, still sucks.

Delight's benching reason

TRANSLATION:

In response to a question asking if the reason for 'Delight's' exclusion from the starting lineup was due to issues with adapting to the meta or call coordination, Coach Yoon clarified that it was not a problem with his skill level itself. Coach Yoon Seong-young stated, "I do not think there is a problem with the player 'Delight'," adding, "In a meta where the jungle and bottom lane are crucial, rather than individual skill, even a bad decision during a skirmish can become a good one if everyone works together, and the more people step up to the front, the better."

He explained, "It is true that they are superior in every aspect, but when I think of 'Delight,' I can only remember their initiating, and recently there have been many incidents in that regard," adding, "Since there are differences in coordination and thinking when the bottoms are grouped together, it was a decision made after considering various situations."

In addition, Director Yoon specifically detailed the strengths and weaknesses of the two players as well as their potential for future appearances. Director Yoon Seong-young stated, "The only area where I think 'Bluffing' is better is that he confidently steps forward to lighten the burden on other players when facing off or engaging in combat, even if it means dying himself." However, he added, "I have no disagreement that 'Delight' is much better, and since I believe he will sufficiently compensate for that soon, I think he will likely play in the near future."

-------------------

Guess the benching has something to do with messy shotcalls and coordination by both Kanavi & Delight bcoz Jungle-Supp synergy is always been important in a game especially in teamfights.

From my understanding (this can be wrong or right), it seems like when Kanavi shotcalls to go fight Delight always have second thought if its a good to follow until Kanavi dies in the end.

I'm glad HLE and Coach Homme were so transparent by this, its a good experience for Bluffing but also good for Delight to watch again how aggressive his jungler is from a distance.

FYI: Director Yoon is HOMME

Wolf's Comments on Oner's Benching

After all the controversy that Wolf got, he still goes on podcasts and gushes about how Oner handled the benching more gracefully than the brutish, tantrum throwing Gumayusi. I understand that there are creators with biases and I believe that it is their right to have opinions about the game and the players, even if they may be aggressive about it.

However, Wolf is formally associated with the LCK. How is an LCK affiliated caster going around on youtube and spreading slander about an LCK player? His bias against Gumayusi's gameplay was at least a critique of his skill, not a straight up personal attack on his character like this. It is insane that this is an official caster acting in such an unprofessional way.

It is of my understanding that these types of podcasts are primarily slop and made to pour out controversy for views. This is something that cannot and should not be restricted. Yet, I believe that Wolf's cooperation in spreading these opinions as a professional caster is severely unprofessional.

HLE chances for playoffs

There two chances for HLE to secure playoffs:

  1. If they win 2 out of their 3 remaining matches especially the game againts KT, this is the most important one because they need to make sure KT remain at 5th place if ever they lose againts T1 & DK

  2. If KT remains winless, their 3 matches are againts T1 GenG & HLE

The team just needs to secure playoffs spot in able for them to finally qualify for Worlds.

Just keep on praying for our team and dont lose hope, just keep on believing and support them until the end.
