SPOILER: HLE Post Match Interview

Homme and Guma expressed that it feels good to win 2-0 again, though for Guma personally, there are some things that he is disappointed with

Homme on HLE's performance: There were a few moments when we had the advantage but weren’t able to capitalize/maintain it. Still, compared to before, I can see significant improvement in the areas we’ve been focusing on so I definitely feel like we’re in the right direction.

Homme on Draft: Today I think there were a few individual mistakes. But when it came to the draft, I felt like we had the better picks (kept winning the drafts). Our compositions also had strong overall value so I was satisfied with the drafts.

Homme on Game 2 win: The thing I remember the most from this game was the situation around top side where our jungle and support was trying to secure vision but got caught after overextending a bit.

That is something we should definitely work on, so we just need to be more careful and aware in those situations. As for the other players, they generally performed well and it's natural that everyone will have games where things don’t go as smoothly. Overall, I was really impressed with how much they improved compared to what I expected so I’m satisfied with today’s match.

Homme on Delight’s situation: First of all, I’m not sure if my thinking (decisions about the supports) is completely right but I believe Delight has an incredibly high ceiling and I really want to see him reach that potential. Honestly if he had been performing poorly, it would be easier for me to justify the substitutions. With other teams in the past there was often such a clear difference in skill that the decision was straightforward. But in this case, everyone knows how good a player Delight is so I’m doing my best to bring out that side of him. On top of that, he has willingly accepted the situation, and I’m very grateful for that. I know it must have been a difficult decision for him, so I really appreciate his understanding.

Homme regarding supports and Guma: For Minhyung (Gumayusi)..I feel really sorry that he’s had to deal with the difficulties that come with the support changes. At the same time, I felt that making the change was something that had to be done. As for the poor results that came from that decision, I’ll be the one to take the criticism.

HLE Behind Interview vs T1

I'm sure everyone's aware, but I'm glad the boys know what they're lacking and the problems with their performances

Also can I just quote what Kanavi said?

Question: Thoughts on taking risks?

Kanavi: "In League, if you don't take risks, you have to be ridiculously better than the opponent. So playing without risks just doesn't make any sense"

I know most of us think that many of his plays are ints...but for Kanavi himself, he’s basically explaining his own playstyle and mindset...he believes that being too passive doesn’t suit a competitive jungler because if he only waits for safe opportunities, he has to be overwhelmingly better than the enemy to make a difference. Instead, he prefers to actively create advantages by making aggressive, calculated plays and putting pressure on the opponent.

It's like he's saying: “I’d rather take a reasonable risk and try to make something happen than sit back and hope I’m better enough to win.”

There are plenty of times that it doesn't work out, but thankfully it hasn't shaken his confidence all that much. Though he's been getting a lot of backlash for his reckless playstyle, I myself quite enjoy this 0-100 jungler of ours. Though I hope for important matches it's 100% Kanavi in our favor 😂

I hope everyone be kinder to the players

Criticizing them is fine. Dissecting their plays are, in my opinion, very welcomed. But straight up insulting and cursing at them will not do anyone good. Not the community, not the players, and not yourself.

The state of League right now is literally anyone's game. We can be on form one day then flop the next. For yesterday's game, the boys, for what it's worth, actually showed signs of life (although the way we lost at the end was very lame 😭). The base race was cinema and I'm not too upset. They showed what they're capable of during game 2 and I'm sure everyone knows HLE can most definitely do better. Lots of stinkers and individual mistakes, probably miscommunications too.

I think they're trying things out and I respect that they're bold enough to pick things like Shyvana (Wasn't the ideal comp but it showed promise nonetheless)

I don't know what kind of slump they're in but I hope they work things out within the team and deliver good results next week. For the fans, please be kinder to the players. I'm sure they're more aware of their mistakes than anyone.

07282026: "I have to work hard for the team's success"

GUMAYUSI STREAM

"I need to practice too...right now I need to practice off-meta/off-role BOT picks a lot. I have to work hard for the team's success"

Lately he's frustrated with the mage bot and weird support infestation in SOLOQ (DW Guma, I hate it too)

He also had some coaching/discussions with BDD#ddddd (Xerath OTP) on how to play Xerath and has been practicing mages with Zeka

You're working hard Guma, FIGHTING!!!!🍀

EDIT: Guma also gave his thoughts about the current meta

"As for my thoughts on off-meta bot picks, of course it's true that I have to prepare for them and adapt if that's where the game is heading. But speaking as a League player, I've always felt that choosing a role is almost like choosing a class in another game. Every role has something people want from it. If you play top, there are things you expect from top. If you play mid, there are things you expect from mid. And if you choose ADC, there's a reason you chose ADC.

"What do I want from ADC? I want to play auto-attack-based champions. Champions that rely on basic attacks—AD, attack speed, crit—that's why I became an ADC player. Then I come to play that role, and mages just beat me up?"

"Cassiopeia can outfight Draven. Ziggs and Xerath have longer range than Caitlyn. They have good wave clear, crowd control, and high damage...they don't let me do anything."

"I came wanting to play ADCs, but now I'm being told to play Swain. How do you think that feels? It doesn't feel good. Do you think I'd want to play Swain? I don't. I picked ADC because I wanted to play marksmen, but instead the mages are causing me trouble."

"I think picks like Ziggs can exist as niche counterpicks. Vayne is similar to some extent. But they shouldn't become the meta. Not every champion should turn into an off-meta bot laner. Imagine if top lane became nothing but Vayne, Twitch, Tristana, and other ADCs. People wouldn't like that either."

HLE moments in Daejeon

Comments from Hanwha Eagles fans:

"Can we tear down that shitty infinity pool and build something like Hanwha Life Esports LOL practice room? it feels like good energy. Live at the ballpark forever. Gumayusi, Zeus, everyone, please come again."

"Why do they look like actual baseball players? Lol"

"Hanwha Life Esports, Gumayusi, Zeus our victory fairies! Fighting!"

"Should I tell you something really funny...? Kang Baekho (Hanwha Eagles player who's injured) showed up to his birthday café looking all scruffy with a beard and a hat. Then he told fans he had to leave for treatment (because of his injury) and would come back later. But after hearing that Guma and Zeus were going to be at the ballpark, he shaved his beard and did his hair before returning"

"Will HLE come again on Tuesday?"

Hanwha Eagles won 14-4

EDIT: Hanwha Eagles fans review on HLE roster

Zeus: pretty round-faced and cute

Kanavi: looks gentle/kind, and he’s tall

Zeka: why didn’t you come join Hanwha Eagles...? but he’s cute

Gumayusi: has a smaller head than expected, tall, handsome, and laughs a lot/great smile

Delight: the Eunwoo of LoL

Gumayusi plane incident

Guma during his stream:

"The flight was a little over ten hours long, so my plan was to sleep through most of it. I did manage to fall asleep, but when I woke up, only about two hours had passed.

Since there was still a long way to go, I thought, "I should try to sleep again." But no matter what I did, I couldn't fall back asleep. I also tend to get sleepy after drinking alcohol, so I figured having a drink might help. ㅋㅋ I had actually been avoiding alcohol for quite a while, so it felt a little exciting to drink again.

The in-flight menu had a variety of cocktails, and I wanted to try them. I ended up ordering two cocktails and a glass of wine. I didn't realize, though, that they were all fairly strong. The wine was around 20% alcohol, and one of the cocktails was a gin and tonic.

Since I was drinking, I decided to order some food to go with it. I got ramen, steak, and even ice cream. Somehow, I finished all the food along with the three drinks in about ten minutes.

At first, I thought, "Wow, this is good." I figured I'd get sleepy soon and finally be able to rest. But as soon as I lay back down, I suddenly started feeling nauseous and extremely dizzy. I remember thinking, "Wait... something's really wrong. I feel like I might actually die."

I immediately called for help and asked if there was a nurse on board. They came over, checked my blood pressure, and looked after me. At that point, I honestly thought I was in serious trouble. My vision became so blurry that I could barely see anything in front of me.

They told me that my blood pressure had dropped significantly. Normally, it's around 80 to 120, but mine had fallen to about 90."

Apparently Zeka came to check on him, asked what's wrong and even thanked the flight attendant on Guma's behalf.

I swear to God this team...HAHAHHA Guma almost made it to the news for a totally different reason

The man behind the camera

Must be surreal for the staff, especially PD-nim who's been documenting their journey since day one. From the upset of RTM last year, to Delight wanting to retire...to the formation of a new team that stumbled during the first few months. I remember when the staff went on a hike to pray for HLE after they got 10th place in the LCK Cup.

You can really feel the emotion behind his scream 😭 Thank you for being one of the boys' biggest supporters PD-nim!!!

Thank you, Oranges.

I know it's a little sappy but I do want to thank oranges for being so nice to the boys. Yesterday's loss must've been a shock for everyone, including the fans. As someone who followed Guma to HLE, I've avoided social media because I know it'll only be filled with vile things being thrown at him and the team. I'm ngl after what happened to T1, I was a little anxious about opening this sub but all I see are fair criticisms and words of support for the team and I suddenly felt emotional.

The games were shocking and it felt like the team was being choked out and out-tempoed by BLG. Even I felt helpless watching them play. We showed signs of life in game 3 and the game 4 loss was unfortunate. I hope the boys can bounce back now that we have data on BLG. Hoping we fight our way back to the finals. 🍀

HLE FIGHTING!!!!
