I read a fic a few days ago, and there is a part that stuck with me because it was the first time I've seen it done: Dumbledore bashing/Weasley bashing where they wanted the Potter lordship (super cliché), but it turns out there are two Potter families in the wizarding world: the Potter family, which is a moderately wealthy family, and the House of Potter, which has a lordship. It turns out Harry is part of the Potter family, and Dumbledore thought he was of the House of Potter, so Dumbledore's plans of letting James get away with things and controlling Harry to get the lordship and control the Wizengamot seats were for nothing. In the fic, this was found out in the great hall while they tried to convince Harry to marry Ginny, and the student ended up laughing at them.

So after telling this, I'm looking for fics with this premise or at least as a side thing, like in the fic I found it in.

I’ve been reading “everything for you“ by Sha01001 and “goodnight hero, goodnight prey” by toxikgato. I love these fics and they’ve become personal favorites of mine. I enjoy plots similar to Dracula, where Draco dies leaving harry to try to get back to him and obsesssees over it. Usually this trope ig has darker elements which I really enjoy. id really like time travel but other situations are fine. I’d just really really really appreciate recommendations for fics like this.

I much prefer hpdm but the switching is fine aswell.

Just realised that I’ve never read a fic where it’s a Harry Potter reader waking up in the HP world fic. Or it could be a HP fan waking up as a HP character fic as well?

It was Regulus Black/Harry Potter/Tom Riddle. It was soulmates with names on wrists but someone sabatoged their soulmate marks so Regulus and Tom thought their third was dead and Harry thought they didnt care about him. I freaking know I had this bookmarked so the fact that I no longer have any bookmarks under this ship makes me think it was privated or deleted. Summary - Harry is Sam and Dean's cousin on their mother's side, and after he defeats Voldemort at the age of seventeen, he leaves England to join them. It's the apocalypse now, though and angels and demons are everywhere. One angel, in particular, manages to capture Harry's attention. The only problem is - besides the obvious - is that they consider Harry no better than the Demons they hunt.

I know Tom is canonically characterized as a prodigy not just magically but intellectually as well, yet canon suffers from the opposite of “show don’t tell”.
I see this with a lot of fanfics as well, we are told that he is smart but don’t really see it in action aside from some well placed jabs in his bickering with Harry. I’d love to read something that makes me believe that Dumbledore found this man the most intelligent person that has ever walked the halls of Hogwarts.
