Honolulu Honeybees Are Swarming. Yes, That’s A Good Thing: The prevalence of wild, swarming honeybees is concerning for many. But for some, including researchers, it’s a sign of good environmental health.

Aria fruit, a first for me, is one for the ages.

1.39 lbs 18.9 Brix score and a very earthy, berry-like flavor. Here are the pictures of the bud, to fruit in reverse (table to bud). It was very tasty! 🤙🏾

Wing bean haul! Now what?

So... I have a whole pile of wing beans I got from a friend. I have no idea what to do with them. Weve tried them stirfry style and are not fans of the texture. Anyone have ideas? What do you use them for? Google has been not super helpful...

Gardening in Holualoa

Ok, first I need to get this straight- I keep hearing the rainy season in Holualoa is now- the summer- something about it being wetter up here when it's hot in town. So then, when is the "drier" season then? Which months are considered wet and which less so? I grew up in Kailua, Oahu so I'm confused.

Anyway, I'm new to this area and this land and I would love to know the first invasive trees and plants you would get rid of and the first trees and plants you would plant in their place. We are at 2200ft elevation. Mahalo 🌺🙏🏽

Hawaiian copelandia 0 effect

Hello I really need some help 😭 Yesterday night we have ate some Hawaiian copelandia with my bf , everybody told me these were potent , but quite nothing happen. We just got a small “filter” making the color really vivid and just a bit of movement.
I’ve ate them dried yesterday but last time I ate them fresh and it was a real trip. Last time I ate like 6-7 fresh shroomies + small aborts, and this time I’ve eaten more but it was a really deceiving experience.
At first I ate 4 of them, after 1h30 quite nothing happen except the thing I said before, so we eat a lot more and the same thing happen. Do you know why ? I couldn’t weighted them but I think we eat like maybe 1g.
So sad nothing happen I feel like we have wasted this mushrooms… I was so happy 😭
I’ve dried them with a fan for 2-3 days
I hope someone could help thanks 🥲

Local nursery for Plumerias?

Aloha y'all,

I'm on O'Ahu in a newly built home in Kapolei. It's time to get some more roots in the ground of the dirt pit in my yard! 😂

Does anyone know where I can find some more unique colors and varieties of Plumeria than the big box shops? I have some hibiscus from Hibiscus Lady on North Shore and specifically choose three rather unique colorations.

I would rather find another local nursery to support than a big box store.

Mahalo in advance!

How do I know when my meyer lemons are ready?

I read online that they only turn yellow in colder environments and can be fully ripe but still green. I'm in Hawaii. What are the signs that they are ready to pick?

Dragon fruit

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if my plant just isn't old enough to produce.

As if centipedes weren’t bad enough

Stinging caterpillars found on windward Oahu …

“They have tiny stinging hairs, similar to fiberglass, and they release an irritant which is a mixture of histamines produced by a poison gland,” Reina Tong, a Department of Agriculture entomologist said.
