Tweaked Aggressive Legends
I love how tough the Legends can be, but I prefer their movement to be as similar to player movement as possible. That's why I love the new Legends expansion. I think having different decks for higher difficulty levels provides a lot more realistic challenge than just increasing the Legends' top speed value. The expansion also lets Legends take advantage of several player advantages like using adrenaline and slipstreaming. Still, there are three house rules I always use to make the Legends more realistic (and in my opinion, fun to play against).
1. If a Legend starts its turn on one of the spaces used for the Aggressive Legends module (the spaces labelled by diamonds with chevrons above them), they will move one less than the number in the diamond above their helmet on the Legends card (+ the Speed Limit), unless the number in the diamond is already 0. This rule makes it near impossible for the Legends to clear three corners at once in Netherlands. I find this fair, because a player would have to pay 11 Heat to make this move. Any abilities that might allow a player to make this move are available to Legends through the Stars module of the recent expansion pack. I know the designers intended for this move to be possible, but I just don't think its very fun to play against.
2. Similarly, if a Legend is trying to clear a corner modified by the "Overheat" road condition, they will move one less than the number in the diamond above their helmet on the Legends card (+ the Speed Limit), unless the number in the diamond is already 0. This rule makes the Legends move more carefully around these corners, just like a player would.
3. If a corner is modified by the "+1 Speed Limit" road condition, Legends will move as though the corner's associated Legend line is 1 space back. Conversely, if a corner is modified by the "-1 Speed Limit" road condition, Legends will move as though the Legend line is 1 space forward.
I honestly can't imagine playing against the Legends without these rules. It'd be great to have them available in BGA, but I don't think the devs are taking suggestions for that kind of thing lol. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts or suggestions!
