What's the best hike you've done in Asia, and would you recommend it?

I'm planning my next hiking adventure in Asia and looking for ideas. For those of you who've hiked anywhere in Asia, where did you go? How difficult was it and would you recommend it.

I'm interested in everything from multi-day treks to challenging day hikes. I'd love to hear what made your hike memorable and any tips or things you wish you'd known before going.

Basic equipment for overnighting

Hi all. I’m a 60yo guy who wants to get back into overnight hiking. Probably not looking at anything beyond 2-3 nights at this stage and based out of Melbourne. Would love some recommendations for a basic gear list (with specific examples). Things I am interested in opinions on include:
Pack
Tent
Sleeping bag
Sleeping mat

Have done a fair bit of internet research but value users’ opinions more. All thoughts welcome

getting into hiking with arachnophobia?

I've been considering getting into hiking but I'm mad scared of spiders. I really want to walk some of the scenic trails in the Dandenong ranges after I get some experience with easier trails. is encountering spiders something that actually happens, especially in the winter?

when did you know you were ready?

I was wondering when you knew you were ready for different graded hikes?

I'm located in Tassie and have does many grade 4 hikes both day and multiday. And have done quite a few day grade 5 hikes. Wondering what to realise when I ready to do grade 5 multiday hikes? I want to do them but am unsure if I'm 100% ready.

Best brand for pricing to quality ratio?

Amateur question, and I understand the whole “every brand has strengths weaknesses, etc”.

But as a newbie who wants to venture into some more “intense” outdoor stuff, what’s a happy entry level to DECENT quality ratio?

I have access to Anaconda and Kathmandu, and have been happy with some discounted purchases from the latter. I see a lot of “not worth it” posts about Kathmandu, but I’ve only ever bought gear on sale.

Any safe entry level brands to stick to without breaking the bank, but also capable of being decent for moderate climates and shorter overnight treks and outings?

Stanwell Creek Viaduct

Went for a walk from Stanwell Park train station along the Wodi Wodi track and down Stanwell Creek to check out the railway viaduct. What a cool piece of Aussie engineering

Latest ultralight bag

This is my latest ultralight pack

I call it the Waterboy

Goal was to be under 500g end weight (460g) and extremely abrasive/rip proof, I choose to make it from dyneema composite fabrics, must be able to EXTERNALLY

carry up to 5 litres of water along with gel packs, snacks, a rain jacket and phone. Reason being is I designed it to complete 20km hikes in 30 plus degree heat to campsite and not have to open It up on the walk in to get items needed to get the trek done.

It's zipless as I have a disliking to zips so I utilised a magnet roll top system for closure.

Total is approx 30 litres internal capacity or roll down top rolled all the way down would be 20 litres.

Everything double stitched and bound

First time overnight hike? (Melb)

Hi everyone, I am interested in doing an overnight hike, maybe 1-2 nights, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I am in Melbourne, and the location must be accessible by public transport since I don’t have my license yet. If anyone has any good beginner recommendations as well as tips it would be greatly appreciated.
