5, 10 or 40 gallon enclosure for baby hognose?
I'm looking to setup an enclosure for a baby hognose. I've read conflicting info about sizing the enclosure. It seems like I have two options:
Set up a 5 gallon enclosure to start. Some people argue this is better because they are less stressed in a small area and you can more easily manage their needs in a smaller enclosure. Some argue this is worse because setting up a proper temperature gradient in such a small space is tricky.
Other people recommend to just get a 40 gallon right away and make sure it has lots of cover and hides because the stress of sizing up enclosures as they grow is worse in the long run.
I'm not super concerned about the cost, as it's manageable for me either way. I just want whatever is best for the snake, and easiest for me to set up and maintain. What are your suggestions?
