Another Warning about Game Room Solutions

Don't order from Game Room Solutions.

They destroyed their goodwill with me piece by small piece throughout this process. I should have done better research before ordering. Reddit, Facebook, and other locations have a lot to say about this place. The customer service person I interacted with most is identified by name in other online posts, which is hilariously embarrassing on her part. Their reputation is so terrible they directly address it on their page: "This is old news a lot of which is propagated through Facebook groups run by competitors."

The main takeaways:

  • The service where they design the artwork was terrible. First, they sent me a panel for the wrong game. Then, all they did was directly plagiarize some crappy fan art. I wound up mocking up something with AI in the end. They just used it almost exactly as I sent it. I should have asked for my $50 back.
  • I didn't realize why until late in this process, but their shipping choice for my APO address was trash. I did reach out prior to ordering. They were cool with everything and confirmed they would be using USPS. However, they shipped my panel via USPS Media Mail. This is likely fraudulent. It's an exceptionally cheap option that only allows educational materials and media like books, CDs, photos, software, etc. Game systems and hardware are very much not eligible. When told GRS were misusing this shipping method, she deflected, see below.
  • After acknowledging that the package had a "drop in activity" GRS supposedly made another panel but wouldn't send it until USPS sent the old one back. Huh?
  • I didn't receive the bat tops I ordered.
  • The quality is adequate, but not great. It came fully assembled. It could use more dowels.

Here's my back-and-forth for comedy and to show receipts.

May 8 Order placed for a 4 player arcade control panel, panel only. Just over $500 with all the fancy buttons and parts. I was hoping to have it by early June for a birthday gift. I was so optimistic.

GRS:

Hello, here's our Gauntlet art. Let me know what you like :)

Me:

Terribly sorry, but Gauntlet and Gauntlet Dark Legacy are 2 different games. Dark Legacy has a much darker theme.

From my order:

Notes: I am looking for a Gauntlet Dark Legacy theme for graphics. T-Molding to match. Control colors (buttons only) to match the graphics, left to right, yellow, red, blue, green. I would like the joystick control tops to be black only, both round and bat.

GRS:

How does this look?

Me:

Not a huge fan of it, honestly. Joystick placement could get really awkward on the yellow Sorceress, as well as several other issues. I'd like to see something more like the original control panel.

Here is a quick AI design I threw together. I upscaled it and expanded it for trimming as well, if that helps. Let me know if the graphics don't come through and I can send them in another way. There are 2 images in this email, one of them quite large.

I would like a logo of some sort on the top center that works with the control layout as ordered. Launchbox has a clean logo.

https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/images/8247-gauntlet-dark-legacy

However, I DO like the side panel art. Especially if you were to upscale it for clarity in the print.

Thanks for your effort. I'm sure this can't be easy given there aren't a ton of high quality reference graphics out there.

GRS:

How does this look?

Me:

Great. Thank you.

Order #xxxxxx (May 9, 2026)

Can you look into this order/package? Normally, USPS packages take 1 to 1.5 weeks to get to me. It's been 3 weeks, and it looks like it's been stuck in Denver for nearly 2 weeks.

Thank you!

GRS:

The Postal Service is extremely slow. The post office will have to deem it lost and I do not see that they would do that just yet. Also it won't stop tracking at a certain point because you are in a military address So do expect that. I suspect that that's what is going on now but you would have to contact the USPS directly to get more information. Thanks so much and have a good day.

This package was shipped 4 weeks ago and has showed Denver for 3 weeks. Please look into this order.

Previously, you said this was related to the post office being very slow and being a military address. USPS packages routinely make it to me in 1 - 1.5 weeks via other companies. Also, the transfer to the military mail system happens in either California or Illinois for a Pacific military address, not Denver.

Thank you for your help!

GRS:

I will have to contact them and see what the issue is. In the mean time we will start redoing the panel.

Please check on this order...

I’m setting a weekly alarm to check in with you every Monday. I look forward to connecting again same time next week for Chapter 5 of this saga.

GRS:

We are aware of the drop of activity on this shipment. We have the unit rebuilt we are simply waiting to hear from USPS to know exactly how to get the unit back. Once we have that information we will ship it.

-----

June 28

Me:

Happy Monday! As promised, my weekly alarm has gone off, and I am back for Chapter 5 of our ongoing saga.

Please check on your internal status for order number xxxxxx.

Also, as a fun side note for your shipping department: I noticed the original tracking was for USPS Media Mail. While I’m thrilled you consider a 4-player arcade control panel to be "educational media," the Post Office does not.

Looking forward to writing Chapter 6 next week.

GRS:

No it is government media and [MyName] I am doing my best.

-----

Side note: At this point my brother told me I should just chargeback. I told him I was too invested in their willingness to draw this out.

-----

July 3 - Package arrives at Post Office. It was shipped Media Mail. Still don't know what 'government media' is.

The printed label has a huge unprinted gap in the middle that affected the barcode. I don't know if this is USPS's or GRS's fault, but it's probably the reason for the drop in activity.

-----

Problems:

  • Didn't receive bat wing tops I ordered. Not worth the $16 to engage with customer service again.
  • There are no dowels between surfaces that butt against each other, but do not fasten together. This results in the front, back, and sides all being slightly wonky. I'm certain this will result in early fatigue and failure with use. [photo 5]
  • Joysticks were screwed in twice. I special ordered Sanwa sticks, so they probably installed the cheap ones first. This damaged the particle board with extra holes and reduces the life of the panel further.

-----

Final Thought:

Death by 1000 cuts with this company. Any one of these problems would have been fine in isolation. All together...

Built for my Fire Department

Hey everyone, I’m a 13 year career firefighter. I’ve been blessed with this wonderful career and to be able to work for an awesome fire department.

The men and women I work along side put in a great amount of work and effort for my community. And I wanted to do something for them.

I got into woodworking about a year ago and recently got a wild hair to make these for my Fire family.

The intention was to give them something they could enjoy and use to unwind during downtime

Let me know what do you guys think? Was this time well spent on a project or nah…

I also made a video showing the process of building these. It also includes my brothers and sisters of the fire department enjoying them.

check that out if you’re interested

I finished my conversion

I completed my conversion. The history of this box is it was a Ms. Pacman on the Jersey Shore for years. The original owner converted it to a 60:1 but it's audio pot was totally screwed and the PS overheated. Pulled out the main board / PS and the control panel. I replaced it with a BeeLink running Batocera and rebuild my own control setup complete with a factory front-panel from Mike's Arcade together with a 4/8 way switchable joystick and spinner from UltraMarc. It's now the perfect vertical cabinet. I've kept all of the original parts just in case.

MiniPC for an Arcade cabinet (Street Fighter 6, Dariusburst)

Greetings! Reposting from the MiniPC forum where I got no response; apologies if you got this twice.

I’m beginning planning on an arcade cabinet I would like to build. Probably 4 player, probably built around a 4k monitor.

I’m looking for a minipc to run it all. Mostly we’re talking about ridiculously simple emulation, but I have some PC titles I would like to target, if feasible.

I’d love to get all of the Street Fighter series on there, including SF6. That’s certainly the most intensive thing I’m targeting. 90% of the time, this will be me and my son just having some good times, so I don’t need or expect an optimized experience. But 1080p output and a stable 60fps, without reducing the graphics settings to the point of making it look actively ugly, is probably my sweet spot.

The other marquee title for me is Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors. That’s a pretty old game, but full resolution output for one of the modes would be 4k (or at least the gameplay is 1080x3840), and that could be a stretch despite the age of the game.

I’m confident the rest of my wishlist falls below these two in one way or another. Specific model recommendations are welcome, but spec suggestions might be even more useful. Real bonus points if you’ve run one or both of these on similar hardware.

I’ve been using Macs professionally for the last 22 years, and personally as well to keep things simple for my life. The modern PC environment is a mystery to me and I genuinely appreciate any advice you might offer. Huge thanks in advance.

Help Requested: Prefab Multicade

Hello! I’ve searched (including this sub) and found some stuff, but everyone seems to be searching for something different. I could really use some help.

I’d love to have the time and physical ability to build my own Multicade, but I simply can’t. And yes I know it could save me a ton of money. Regardless…I’m planning to buy a prebuilt cabinet that includes either a preconfigured Pi or miniPC.

— primary use would be Arcade games, but also retro PC (+ C64/Amiga).
— I care about cabinet/controller build quality and functionality/reliability/navigability

Everyone has favorites amongst the front ends and what should drive it. Launchbox, Hyperspin, the Bat one…anything I should consider?

Cost aside for now: Anyone have an all-in-one suggestion for a quality cabinet that could come preconfigured?

DIY CLAW MACHINE

I’m trying to do a claw machine from a kit I bought from AliExpress but there’s no such thing as instruction manual there lol.

Curious on a part I’m stumped on.

Look at the top tab, the single one near the top edge. Right above it there’s a tiny molded symbol — a little circle with three lines under it (⏚). That one is Earth. So I’m sure the green/yellow wire goes there. That one I’m confident about, because it’s clearly marked and isolated at the top.

But here’s the honest problem with the rest:

this box has two separate things sharing the back — the IEC inlet (the three flat tabs grouped at the bottom) and the fuse + switch tabs (the screw tabs up top). Live has to thread inlet → fuse → switch → out to your wire, and Neutral threads inlet → out.

I don’t have a multimeter But im trying to figure out how to pplug
The LIVE AND neutral or where would it be on this
This is a switch box

I’m left with red and black wires now
