Suggestions for BR closet in apt? Not even deep enough for hangers.

LOVE my new apt but the closets are a problem. Will be getting an armoire or something…but do folks have suggestions on how I can modify this small space not deep enough for hangers?

My family organizing wall is becoming chaos 😅 Help?

Hey everyone 👋

We’re trying to create a functional but still aesthetically pleasing family organizing wall in our hallway/kitchen area, and I’d love some ideas or inspiration from people who’ve solved this well.

Right now we need space for:

  • invitations to birthday parties & events
  • two kids’ school schedules
  • library notices and random papers
  • postcards and small memories
  • kids’ drawings/art
  • a family calendar
  • maybe a small section for keys/mail/reminders

At the moment it’s starting to look cluttered really quickly 😅
I want it to stay practical for everyday family life, but also calm and visually nice — more “intentional family hub” and less “chaotic paper explosion”.

I attached a photo of the current setup.
What would you change?

Things I’m wondering:

  • Should everything be framed/contained somehow?
  • Best way to display kids’ art without visual chaos?
  • How do you organize papers that constantly change?
  • Any examples of family command centers that actually stay tidy and really work?

I especially love:

  • Scandinavian / minimalist style
  • systems that are easy enough for kids to use too

Would really appreciate photos, product recommendations, layout ideas, or any organizing tricks that worked for your family 🙏

What to put in very small container?

Idk if this is the right place to ask this but idk where else to go. I assume this used to be a compact mirror, but as of now I can not get an exact match, what can I use it for? It's very shallow unfortunately (coke for scale bc I didn't have anything else near me)

How do people keep track of all the tiny recurring household things without turning life into admin?

I feel like modern life is just endless tiny things to remember:

bins
groceries
dog food
bills
random errands
guests coming over
appointments
“we’re out of olive oil”

We’ve tried:
texting
reminders
notes apps
shared calendars

But everything either gets forgotten or turns into a full-on productivity system.

Curious what actually works for people long term without becoming another thing to manage?

Labeled pantry

I love my labels for streamlining my cooking and baking.
The alphabetized baskets hold small containers of spices so that I don’t have to dig through the large container baskets.

Living in one room... where to put stuff?

So basically, due to my current living situation, my pantry, cleaning supplies, hobby supplies, bedding, toiletries, coats, shoes, clothes, ornaments, and basically anything else that you could think of. Live in one room, with me.

Like as in... my bedroom that I sleep in. So... I have done a massive declutter, but now I just need to organize everything.... and maybe even somehow get rid of a little more? And make it work.

I would really like to move out soon (I bet you're wondering why, lol) and I was kinda just coming on here hoping for some advice as to what to do with my space.

I'm happy to go into more specifics on certain things if that helps, but I just want my space to help me feel sane, and I would like for moving to be as painless as possible... if everything is already organized, and I have less stuff, then I can only hope that it'd be made easier.

Best foldable laundry basket designs for small apartments

Hello guys, I have just recently moved into a new apartment that is relatively small in size as compared to my previous one and so I have had to make some changes and buy products that are more economical in terms of space management. I have a smaller bed, wardrobe and other house equipment that I have now in a much smaller form factor. As I continue to downscale my accessories, I have been looking to buy a foldable laundry basket that will service all my laundry needs but still occupy a small space that I have at the corner of the apartment.I have been going through foldable laundry baskets available on Alibaba and Amazon but I am yet to make a decision on which one to buy. I do not have a material preference (it could be fabric-like or plastic) nor any colour choice, I just need it to be able to hold a week's worth of laundry.Looking forward to hearing your insights on which laundry basket is good, affordable and economical in terms of space

Desperately Seeking a System!

Background: I have a long list of medical issues with my skin which require me to have a ton of creams, ointment and special products. Some I use daily, and other I use as needed. Additionally, I have a whole lot of Rx meds in pill form.

Issue: I live between 2 houses and need to travel with EVERYTHING. I can’t get duplicates of most items because they are either Rx (so I can only get 1 at a time). I’d like everything to be easy to find, easy to transport by car, and stored in a way I can access them easily. I have minimal space at one of the locations, so I’d like to have them stored vertically on wheels, perhaps?

Last, it’s a nightmare keeping track of these meds. The tubes don’t come with instructions (the label is affixed to the outer box) and all the tubes look alike. How to keep track of everything?!

Total chaos!!!

Any and all suggestions would be so appreciated.

Please help I am a hoarder

Please help. I’m a hoarder and I finally had to admit that to myself.

This is my closet, and it’s been like this for many years. I never even go in there because it overwhelms me and honestly scares me. Every time I tell myself I’m going to clean or organize it, I walk in, feel immediate anxiety, and walk right back out.

I’m a woman in my twenties living alone, and I’m so embarrassed by how disorganized my space has become that I never invite anyone over. My family has no idea because I’m too ashamed to tell them, and I’ve never asked for help because the thought of anyone seeing this makes me want to disappear.

But I’m exhausted living like this. I don’t want this to be my life anymore. It’s affecting my mental health, my peace, and how I live day to day.

I’ve decided I need to face this myself, but I genuinely need guidance from people who understand this or have gotten through something similar. How do you even start when the overwhelm is so intense that you shut down immediately?

Any serious tips, strategies, or encouragement would mean a lot. Thank you.

How to put clothes in this closet?

We are moving into a new house next weekend from a one bedroom apartment!! We are so excited it’s our dream house and I am so ready to finally feel organized and not cramped!

This is what my side of the closet looks like. What is the best way to organize my clothes in here? I am wondering if it’s worth it to install drawers or just fold my clothes and keep them in folded piles….some things can be hung up but not everything.

For reference everything was hung up in my old closet. Thank you for advice!!

Basement Storage: Drainage Mat or Metal/Plastic Paletts?

I'm moving my stuff into a storage space that is along a retaining wall that has leaked before. (They've filled the cracks with sealant.)

Knowing this I plan to put Rubbermaid bins along the back wall, but I have some cardboard boxes I need to store in that space.

Will a drainage mat that's 15mm/.6" be enough? Or do I need to get actual metal or plastic pallets that are taller (3-10cm/1"-4")?

It's a storage space in an apartment building, so I doubt it will flood - but if that back wall leaks there maybe be some water on the floor.

Suggestions?

Decorative storage boxes changed how my space feels

Those decorative storage boxes had no inherent purpose other than to prevent my small apartment from becoming a complete pigsty. They were attractive enough to take pride of place so why shouldn’t they serve dual purpose.

I then proceeded to shove them, unthinking.

I would slip keys into one, the charger cord into another, and then all the other little odds and ends that don’t really have a natural home. Slowly, I was drawn to reach for one of those decorative storage boxes first as I went through my usual ‘what shall I do now’ cycle.

But it was’t just what went inside the storage containers, but how the whole room felt.

calmer than before.

Not tidy as in neat and organised, but more placid on the eye. Almost as if even the clutter was now designated a particular home.

I then found myself remarking upon how the decorative storage boxes seemed to have more than just a housing function.

I have come across styles similar to these decorative storage boxes in the past even ones available in several different styles on Alibaba, and it wasn’t something that particularly interested me at the time to wonder on the impact they can have in an environment. But it has certainly changed.

How do you chose your storage solution – purely aesthetic, purely functional or an equal mix of the two?

Pantry success!!

I have real labels coming but so happy with this transformation! The key was

  1. Moving water bottles and some random baking supplies out of the way, and

  2. The cabinets are so so deep, so I created makeshift risers by turning boxes upside down so I can actually see what’s in there. Such a relief! Hopefully this time it sticks!

What's better than starting the weekend with a fresh bedroom set?

Finally gave my bedroom a little refresh and it feels so much brighter and calmer now.

Added some sage green bedding and these botanical pillows, and somehow a few simple changes made the whole room feel way cozier.

What do you think? Thanks
