At the moment, it is difficult to organize, but in the midst of all of this, we still need to do something. Once we start doing it together, that’s when our voices begin to matter.

I’m kindly asking that you call Howard County’s Executive Office and raise your concerns about recent ICE activity and the detention center being built.

We need to make our voices heard. As much as these situations overwhelm us, we cannot keep our concerns to ourselves. The leaders of this county should feel the same burden , if not more — that our community is feeling.
Say whatever is on your mind but at least say it. It will take, at most, a few minutes of your day.
The more of us who unite and speak up, the stronger we are as a community.

I am part of groups that use the Signal app to message immediately with the exact address, descriptions, what is happening, photos if possible. Then, if one or more of us is available, we go to the location to witness and record with the hope that our presence prevents people from more violence against them. We use the apps so that word can get out quickly. We only add those we know personally to avoid infiltration.

I also volunteer to stand outside of the worship services of immigant populations to watch for ICE and alert them to go into non-public areas of the buildings so that they can worship in peace. Churches are looking for help.

Contacting Luminous and other organizations for other ways to help is useful too.

Simply posting ICE sightings is only going to make us feel worse unless we can act in the moment.

I wanna use this subreddit as a place where we can share sightings about ICE, flock, etc in an effort to hopefully start organizing in the area with whatever needs to be done! :)

Looking for anyone with ideas on how we would go about organizing in our community to prevent illegal ICE arrests and pushback on flock devices? Feel free to leave ideas here! And remember no idea is a bad one! 🙏
