Resident Visa to ARC

Hello!

I got my resident visa, and I will therefore need to apply for ARC once I am in Taiwan.

What determines the expiry date of my ARC? I will be studying for 6 months, but what if I decide to extend my studies and would like to stay longer?

I guess my question is, what would determine the ARC expiry date?

Thanks!

Airline ticket

I recently received the MOFA Scholarship.

I'd like to know how airline tickets work; does anyone know when the tickets are sent?

Can I choose the day and connections? And do they choose the nearest airport or not?

And how does the residency process work? I received a long-term resident visa for 5 years of studies.

Long Term Awardees Resident Visa?

Has anyone had any luck getting one of these off one of the long-term scholarship awards, and if so, what did you need to do? I'm a 12 month scholarship recipient but my local TECO office is insistent that huayu recipients are only eligible for the visitor visa regardless of the duration awarded.

While it's not the end of the world, it would seem rather silly that you're expected to go 1/3rd of the entire scholarship year living in the country without an ARC, since 4 months would be the amount of time you need to stay to transition off the visitor visa to an ARC from what I've read.

HES 2027

Hi everyone!
I’m planning to apply for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship 2027 from Germany and would love to hear from people who have already gone through the application process.

A few questions:
How competitive is the scholarship for applicants from Germany? Does anyone know roughly how many scholarships Germany receives each year?

Which university would you recommend for learning Mandarin? I’m mainly considering Taipei, but I’m also interested in hearing about Kaohsiung.

Did you feel like your Chinese improved significantly during the scholarship?

How much did you spend per month in Taipei oder Kaohsiung? (rent, food, transportation, etc.)?

Was it easy to make friends with other international students and locals?
If you could do it again, would you choose the same university and city?

Also, I currently only know a little bit of Chinese and can’t really read or write yet. My goal is to learn as much as possible while I’m there, but also to enjoy student life, meet new people, and have a great time overall.

Also, if anyone else is planning to apply this year, I’d be happy to connect!
I’d really appreciate any experiences or advice. Thanks in advance!
