new iat aspirant here, hi :) i really want to get into research and want to get into iisc (unrealistic, i know) but i'll be very happy with any iiser that can take me down the path of astrophysics.
i'm good in physics and chemistry mains wise, kinda suck at math but i'm building it up gradually. i'm pcm so i don't know anything about bio, so if anyone could suggest some bio chapters that are doable and have high weightage, it'd be great :)
regarding the exam level, i've heard that math and chemistry is jee mains level and physics is advanced and bio is ncert based, pls confirm if this is correct
i also want to know how much to aim for top iiser's, and what are the courses? are there any engineering degrees? i'm quite confused in that regard of what the iiser's academics are, i just know it's a good clg to go into astrophysics deeper.
next, mock resources? which is the best test series to buy or if there is any free, and are iat pyqs relevant, should i just write the pyps?
i'd really appreciate the help, kinda desperate cause if i don't get an iiser my parents are going to force me into ece/cse which i'm not really passionate about, they even declined my idea of pursuing aerospace engineering :(

I'm a dropper, 12th se hi mujhe IISER jana tha because of it's research based curriculum. But last year got sick, and bedridden, so registration ki last date hi miss hi gyi. + I was also preparing for jee (for backup) but bimar hone ki vajah se u scored only 73.4% in my 12th boards last year🫠. Now 17 days me IAT exam he mera, COMEDK k through already vese backup k liye bengaluru me decent BTech clg mil rha he, tho btech mera backup plan hi he. But now I'm just feeling exhausted . Padhai krne ka mann hi nhi hota ab. Esa lgta he jese 0 pr hu, although nhi hu, obviously. But bs ab mann krta he kuch din sb chhod k kahi nikal jau door🫠. But exam aa rha he, last 2 din se theek se kuch nhi padha. Idk tbh kya hoga ab🫠. Thoda motivation chahiye ab padhne k liye 🫠

Finally I did well in a mock but it's most probably because this mock was easy :( ? Idk I am too dumb to gauge the level,what do you all think?
Shit, I just got confused by someone else's comment now. Is the requirement 60% overall? (PCM + ENGLISH+ EXTRA) or 60% PCM?
I usually get around 150-180+ in mocks but, clocked 200+ for the first time. P.S it's IAT PYP 2024. Chem was way too easy, which I think is the IAT pattern. Maths was better than usual.Physics was really good tho,Made one mistake and there was one question of AC which ate up a lot of my time and I couldn't do it (Apparently you have to use Complex number for it). Got 39 in bio from whatever I covered, I think I'm not gonna do anymore chapters of it.
