Voluntary layoff extended

"We recognize that the application period coincided with a time when many employees and managers have been taking planned time off across the U.S."

AKA - not enough people signed up for this bad deal.

And the bulk of the planned time off hasn't even hit yet, given labor day weekend is about to start.

Anyone else feeling demotivated? What to do next?

As the title says, I’m feeling really demotivated by all the recent happenings and just the year we’ve had at this company. I don’t know whether I should try to find another job internally or start looking externally. It’s so hard to find a new job right now, but I just feel depressed and anxious in my current situation. I’ve been at IBM around 8 years, so I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs over the years, but this time feels different. Is anyone else in a similar boat? How are you navigating? I feel like I’m trying to find the light again here.

Is Sales Management Avoiding Responsibility?

There is a lot of recent posts around the changes and reorganizations and team shakeups - is there a broader pattern emerging around how sales tech teams are being regarded by management?
Are tech teams and early career professionals becoming the whipping post for senior management when seller performance and leadership outcomes don’t add up? Roles being changed? Quizzically negative middle year performance reviews? Illogical demands? Stalled raises? Is accountability landing on the sales tech teams supporting the business - rather than on the underlying seller performance - management decisions or leadership issues? Is this something others are seeing firsthand? Who is experiencing this?

Blocked from r/IBM

Anybody else been blocked from r/IBM without warning or cause?

I see people over there claiming the group is not overseen by IBM, but that could be ‘survivor bias’ since those who were blocked cannot comment.

IBM PROMOTION - AUGUST CYCLE 2025 DELAYED

Does anyone have any updates on the August 2026 promotion cycle?

There's been no proper communication about it even though effectivity was supposed to be August 1.

It's disappointing because employees worked hard to get to this position, and it feels like it's not being prioritized.

IBM Training Location Bangalore — Can I Get Mumbai as My Work Location After Training?

"I got Bangalore as my IBM training location, but my preferred work location is Mumbai. Does IBM usually transfer employees to their preferred location after training, or is the final location decided by business requirements? Has anyone experienced this?"

Sellers are panicking, competition is years ahead. Irrelevance sets in.

Heard a team of sellers talk and worry at the end of a meeting, lots of concern, panic. And it is not about quotas, this time is about irrelevance. Their customers and accounts refuse to join calls to hear ibm talk about generative AI or cloud. It is a waste of their time. They have gone through so many failed demos, broken promises and disappointing deployments that are beyond frustrated. Many see ibm as irrelevant, a pain in the butt. What's your experience? Is this widespread?

IBM Software Intern 2027 Question

So I applied to this role did the coding OA as well as the virtual interview thing they gave out. But on the IBM application portal it says Start your assessment.
I’ve also received the digital interview thing and I completed that. My friend is having the same problem I just wanted to check if it’s just us or more people have this. I attached some pictures as well.

ALSO side note a lot of applications say CI/CD level and there’s options for expert - beginner but it’s just blank😭. Anyone know anything about that?

Should I leave Infosys for IBM ASE? Need advice from Infosys/IBM employees & experienced freshers

Hi everyone, I’m confused between continuing at Infosys vs joining IBM, and I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people currently working at Infosys/IBM, former employees, or freshers who have faced a similar situation.
My current situation
I’m a Master’s/MCA graduate.
Joined Infosys in November 2025 as a System Engineer.
Training completed on 15 May 2026, after which I was posted to Bangalore DC.
Since then, I haven’t been allocated a proper project.
From what I’ve observed, many available projects are mainly support/maintenance-oriented, rather than development-focused.
Current CTC: ₹3.6 LPA → around ₹22–23K/month in hand.
Infosys does have the advantage of a relatively flexible/hybrid work culture.
IBM opportunity
Received an LOI from IBM on 10 July 2026 for Associate System Engineer (ASE).
Currently waiting for the final offer letter.
Expected CTC: ₹4.5 LPA (~30% hike).
Expected in-hand: around ₹30–31K/month.
What I’m confused about
1. Should I move from Infosys to IBM?
Considering salary, work culture, WLB, project quality, technologies, learning opportunities, career growth and brand value, would IBM be a better choice at this stage?
2. What kind of work does an IBM ASE usually get?
Is there a reasonable chance of development-oriented work and learning technologies, or can ASE roles also become mostly support?
3. Location is important to me.
Infosys has been difficult regarding North Indian locations. How flexible is IBM with location/posting? Is Noida/Gurgaon/Delhi-NCR realistically possible?
The biggest complication — Infosys probation
My Infosys probation is expected to end around 1 April 2027, and I’ve been told that if I leave during probation and want my experience/relieving documents, I may have to pay around ₹1 lakh.
So:
4. If IBM is hiring me as a fresher/ASE despite me currently working at Infosys, should I pay the ₹1 lakh and join IBM with my Infosys experience officially documented?
Or:
5. Can I join IBM as a fresher without taking an experience/relieving letter from Infosys?
Someone told me an experience/relieving letter may not be mandatory if IBM is hiring me as a fresher. Is this actually true, and what risks would I be taking?
6. If I join IBM as a fresher without providing Infosys experience documents, and after 1–2 years switch to another company, will my Infosys experience still be considered? Or would I effectively lose those years of experience?
I’m trying to make this decision based on long-term career growth, not just the immediate salary hike.
Would really appreciate honest opinions from Infosys employees/former employees, IBM employees/former employees, and freshers who have faced a similar situation.
If you were in my position, would you stay at Infosys or take the IBM ASE opportunity? Why?

Betrayal at its finest.

I don't know how this company has come this far with how its management works. They had us working overtime almost every day, most weekends, during plane rides, during family events, all to hit the unreasonable targets they themselves sold. They told us to go above and beyond because it would help us get promoted, and now all promotions are being delayed?

The stock crash caused by tech sales is impacting consulting employees? What kind of BS is that? Since when has this company ever given a shit about the consulting practice anyway?

In return for the countless hours I gave this company, they gave me the gift of a pushed-back promotion because Wall Street didn't like our numbers. We still turned a profit in Q2. We can't use a little bit of that to reward the employees who worked their asses off? All of this so the executives can still get their bonuses and stock rewards at the end of the year.

Idk how anyone has the motivation to do anything right now. Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant. Good luck everyone.

Train the recent hire = train your replacement

It is happening across the board. Managers are forced to layoff senior personnel and asked to promote "cross pollinating" within the team, basically make sure everyone is replaceable and interchangeable.

You will train your replacement thinking you finally got the help you deserved. Then you will be put on pip regardless of performance, stories will be made up. Finally, you are laid off and a newby takes over, the business degrades further, execs get their fat bonuses, you get cobra.
