Manthey Director Arkenau: 'Full-Season IMSA Effort Being Looked At'
A return to the MEC in 2027 is looking good, while Manthey are also exploring a potential full-season IMSA campaign.

Relatively new IMSA fan here. I went to Watkins Glen this year for my first race and had such a great experience that I’m already planning a trip to the Daytona 24.
Right now I’m thinking I’d get an Airbnb nearby, and then maybe on race day just sleep in my car for a few hours if needed so I can stay at the track as long as possible. Mostly I’m just looking for advice on how to make the Daytona trip the best experience possible.
A few things I’m wondering about:
Any general tips for a first Daytona 24?
At Watkins, I had an infield parking pass, so my car was close by all day. It made things super easy because I could keep coolers, food, drinks, extra layers, etc. in the car and just go back whenever I needed. Should I expect anything similar at Daytona, or is it a very different setup?
How’s the food situation at Daytona? At Watkins I mostly brought my own stuff, but I’m curious whether the track food at Daytona is actually decent or if I should plan on bringing most of my own food/drinks.
Any other advice for handling the size of the event, where to spend time during the race, what to bring, or things you wish you knew before your first Daytona 24?
Thank you in advance!
Went to my first ever race this year at the Watkins Glen 6hr. It was such a wonderful time. The noise of the roaring Lambos cleansing my soul like a sound bath. Meeting all sorts of amazing IMSA drivers, mechanics and essential folks, all while camping inside the track and making memories with my kiddo. What a badass vacation. An extra special thank you to the fella who made me a badass parent by gifting me the rotor he got. For my son. (Thank you person ❤️) .
Video is nothing special, just cool seeing the different lines and some cars jumping the curb. Bummer the Valkyrie was gone by this point.
Mostly a slow-pan photo kinda person, but tried a quick video. I figured it would be shaky without a monopod and handheld, but it’s not too bad. Setup was a d500 and 70-200 2.8.
Counting down the days to IMSA! Heading up to celebrate my 40th and have two RV spots in section 6. Grew up in Milwaukee and went with my Dad seemed like every weekend and I'm excited to go check out everything that has changed over the years since we've been back. Had a couple logistical questions if you all could help!
• For one of the spots we'll have two vehicles staying the weekend, is that ok based on your experience or are the areas that we can park a vehicle overnight?
• I'll be bringing my Canon R50 w/ a 100-400mm lens, I have a good understanding of the track but where are your top areas to shoot photos from (especially the newer areas)?
• Is the event on Thursday night worth it in downtown Elkhart Lake? How does parking/traffic look? Also, do we have in/out access 24/7 if we're staying on track in case we need to hit up a grocery store or grab some cheese curds and cheese whips? Haha
Thank you all and can't wait to be up there soon!!
Since this was my first time shooting a dslr and it came with a shotgun mic when I bought it, I figured I’d try taking some vids to test the audio. First two clips are the result of shooting at 300mm crop factored to 480mm without stabilization. Also random but did anyone else notice how much louder the Gradient Mustang was compared to the other three in the field?
Hi everyone, I'll be attending my first IMSA race in Bowmanville next week and also camping for the first time from thursday on, so I have some questions.
If there's anything else I should be aware of please let me know, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
Hey folks!
I've been wondering what "fantasy" type of leagues would look like in IMSA, especially for some of the support series.
So, I'm working on it 😄. I used to work as a software engineer (although I do prefer talking about race cars and being at a race track now) - but this has been a fun project to play with AI. I probably could have built this myself but it would have taken me weeks/months in my spare time. AI turned that into a few days of occasional back and forth to get a first version up just before Watkins Glen that I shared in the IMSA Discord (plug).
I'm excited that picks are now open for ALL series racing at CTMP (ISWC, IMPC, VPRC & MX-5) by visiting https://fantasy.arjunakankipati.com/
Let me know about any feedback (especially around pricing) you have - I'll be lurking in the comments.
Who knew Aston Martin's looked good in white??
Figured I’d try digital instead of just film to allow for more photos. The Glen is a great track for getting close to the cars while on track without a media pass.
With the news this week that Porsche Carrera Cup North America will be one of the support races for the 2027 Rolex 24, do you anticipate that it’ll replace the MX5 races or the historic race? Or neither and it just joins the schedule?
Not sure what the next historic category would be since they did 90s and 2000s this year and the 2010s doesn’t seem to be “historic”, and the MX5 Cup races are such a highlight for everyone that weekend.
Been a couple years, but I added two new ones to my list this year. AMG GT3, and LMP2. Might not be for everyone, but it never gets old to me sitting in these machines. Lighting inside the cars isn’t best, so these photos aren’t anything special. Just wanted to share how cool some teams can be.
Previously I’ve sat in an LMP3, Porsche cup, Lambo cup, and Mazda cup….and also an FR/F4 at another event. The LMP2 is my favorite so far.
(I have some videos from inside too, but not sure if I can add them as comments or not?)
The VP Challenge entry list for Mosport is officially out, and if you look closely at the attached image, you’ll see a massive update under our tent!
For the next round, Ismaeel Ellahi will be piloting the No. 25 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo instead of our usual Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Switching from a mid-engine platform to the front-engine Vantage mid-season is a huge technical puzzle, but the crew is ready to tackle it. There is no better place to debut a beast like the Aston than a fast, legendary track like Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
We can't wait to get to work up north. Let us know if you'll be catching the races this weekend!

Inadvertently caught the marks on the Corvette and Mustang from the last lap tussle too
Moving in with my girlfriend and finally have a place to display all the used tires I've gotten over the years. No more keeping them tucked away in a closet anymore
