i got this hp elite mini 600 g9 from thrifting ewaste but i cant unlock the bios how can i do this?
It says protected by hp wolf security (i think it belonged to a company)
tried removing cmos battery - said time and date reset but didnt reset pass
tried holding/pressing cmos reset button - also didnt work
i cant seem to find the jumper to reset like most of those models use
pls help i wanna use this for my homelab as a router
i tried internally updating the drivers to the wireless connector twice , i tried troubleshooting everything.
It seems like nothing is working so i thought to post this here to see if anyone has any ideas or knows how to help me in this situation.
Hey everyone, I really need some help troubleshooting my laptop. It went from overheating to completely refusing to boot after a cleanup.
Here is the exact timeline of what happened:
1 (The Original Issue): The laptop hadn't been cleaned in almost 2 years. It started instantly shutting down after about 1 minute of use due to severe over heating.
2 After taking it to a technician for a cleaning, I turned it on. It stayed on for a bit, but then the screen went dark. However, when I shone a flashlight directly at the screen, I could faintly see the Windows display still running underneath! The normal screen brightness came back after about a minute.
3 (Current State): Now, the laptop seems completely dead. The screen stays 100% black (the flashlight trick doesn't work anymore). I honestly can't tell if the laptop is actually on or off because the fan will randomly spin up for a few seconds and then turn back off, but nothing else happens.
What I think might be wrong:Since the display backlight died first (the flashlight phase), did I accidentally damage the screen/LCD ribbon cable? Or did a reverse current from cleaning the fan finally kill the motherboard's power management chips?Has anyone dealt with this specific sequence of failures? What should I check or replace first.

So i got this like 10 year old acer laptop that I have found in a box my dad was throwing away old laptops and this was only working one plan is to watch shows movies etc us steam link to connect to my gaming pc it be nice not to have to move my pc since its not mobile like having a laptop anyway when I first installed windows 11 the wifi worked but after awhile It stop for some reason i rebooted it a couple of times them wifi come back workd for a entire day before it disappeared I tried a couple of YouTube vidoes none work so im here now if anyone can help I appreciate it
what i did is
clean the dust
remove the ram stick then clean using eraser
remove the cmos battery for 10 mins, then returned it
and still not workingggg
I do not remember installing this, but I was downloading some mods for a game online, so maybe this could be a reason why. When I try to uninstall it on Apps > Installed apps, I have an option to uninstall, but it asks me, “Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes on your device?”. I am hesitant to answer either yes or no because I am concerned if this is malware, or some kind of Trojan.
It doesn’t also appear in my file folders, I only see it in my apps. I can send a photo through dm’s as well.
I saw a yt video that suggested to press the f2 key while restarting to get to these settings. This is what they look like ^^^^
When clicking "restore settings", I've tried all the options (BIOS defaults, last known good settings, factory reset, and custom settings), and I'm just met with a screen that says "no bootable devices found" with options f1 to retry, f2 for set up utility, and f5 for onboard diagnostics. I'm operating on Dell. Any help?
