Rukia’s poem

It goes without saying that Ichigo’s poem in volume 49 is more talked about—and for good reason. It’s bittersweet, emotional, and packed with so much yearning in just a few words. But, in my opinion, we don’t talk about Rukia’s poem in volume 54 enough. Especially with how much it ties back to Ichigo’s poem.

I don’t presume myself to be an expert, but as someone who has read the raw serialization, I’ve always loved joining in debates as to who Ichigo was referring to in his poem. I admittedly have an advantage when it comes to linguistic context, so it’s fun to debate on stuffs like that before (as long as it stays respectful). Every poem Kubo includes in every volume is obviously thematic, but regardless of any side of the debate, I genuinely believe that Rukia’s poem is such a glaring response calling back to Ichigo’s poem, which in turn proves the fact that Ichigo was referring to her. It almost feels like a conversation, and while Kubo never included anything specific in either poems, just reading them and understanding the context feels profound enough.

It’s understood that Ichigo was vulnerable in his dedicated poem. He lost his powers, and while he had initially accepted it during his fight with Aizen, the gravity didn’t get to him until he noticed that Rukia’s presence was beginning to fade to him. That was the last time he saw Rukia for a long time, and there’s even a couple of panels of him genuinely dwelling on Rukia’s absence. Chad, Uryu, and Orihime were overly babying him too—hiding every problem to him as if it might break him if he founds out. And while Ichigo understood their intentions, it only made him withdraw into himself a bit more. He was alone in every sense of the word.

But then, after Rukia comes back, this is the poem dedicated to her, and it feels like a comforting reassurance to Ichigo’s pain from his last one.

We saw the last look Ichigo and Rukia gave each other. Rukia was obviously affected, but knowing her personality, I sincerely believed that she was more affected because she knows just how Ichigo will feel. She knows he won’t open up about it to anyone, and she knows he’ll probably do something stupid eventually just to get back his powers. For me, that look on her face conveys helplessness because she can’t help Ichigo nor reassure him enough before she fades away before his eyes.

It’s why for me, as an IchiRuki fan, Rukia’s poem holds a special place in my heart a bit more than Ichigo’s poem. Her poem feels like the words she didn’t get to say to Ichigo—her comfort to the pain he keeps hidden. Her poem is an answer to his poem.

Can we make this sub private to IchiRuki fans only? This constant barrage of ill meaning IchiRuki haters poking at our safe space is irritating me

This is the only sub where I can have positive interactions with other IchiRuki fans without these jobless haters interference.

I know it's Not possible I'm just very angry seeing these people clearly poking at us all the time 😔

Bleach : Echoes (A reimagining of the entire 2nd half of Bleach with Ichigo and Rukia's relationship being the central focus!!) by ryu_rei4444 on AO3

The author rewrites the story of Bleach starting right after the defeat of Aizen and Ichigo losing his Shinigami powers.

It introduces a new concept called "Enharmony" Which roughly means that when a shinigami gives their powers to a human successfully, a soul connection is formed between them.

This phenomenon allows both of their Zampakuto's to the enter the other's world and interact with each others owners. And in this story it becomes the main force that helps Ichigo get his Shinigami powers back. Ichigo and Rukia have to share their past traumas and form an even deeper bond which will allow for both of them to grow stronger.

I have read a few Chapters and overall it explores their relationship beautifully and creates a natural romantic progression between which also links to their Shinigami powers 🥹

The author won't be including the Fullbring arc or the TYBW arc I guess and instead will focus of providing a good ending to all the main characters cleaning up the loose ends

Honestly they plan to properly explore all the other characters too and its going to be a good read as a non ship focused reimagining as well.

They even have a heart related poem(from renowned poets) at the beginning of each chapter which relates to what happens in each of them 🥹

I am religious following this fic and I am hoping for a much better ending for all the characters 🙏🥹

Its a relatively new piece and I really want it receive more love 💜🧡

If you've already read it let's discuss how you like it? :3

Orrr I am totally down for other IchiRuki focused Bleach re-imagining fics as well 👀 pls pls plsss share themmmm

Ichigo gave up everything to bring an end to the Winter War and save the world, but the world moved on without him. Rukia returned to the Soul Society, unsure if it was where she truly belonged. One year later, their zanpakutou bring them back together, and the sword of fate falls once again.

A dramatic reimagining of the 2nd half of Bleach. Mostly canon compliant up until Ch. 423.
