I would like to also add my own opinion to this, that being, this is wrong, because this is effectively just a modern form of slavery.

For clarification, yes, multiple US citizens were illegally zip tied and detained by ICE during the raid.

Over the last 24 hours, we’ve learned via [local activists](https://www.instagram.com/p/DYcHHZmkWNa/?img\_index=1) and independent journalist Nick Valencia that [approximately 20 detainees being held at the notorious Adelanto ICE Processing Center are on a hunger strike](https://www.nickvalencianews.com/p/exclusive-stroke-hunger-strike-and-fd9). In their press release, they reported already being in poor health and underfed due to staff neglect, and are demanding due process, bond reform, improved conditions, adequate medical and mental health care, decent food, accountability for deaths at the facility and the right to organize and communicate.

Detainees have [reported physical and sexual abuse](https://www.nickvalencianews.com/p/exclusive-stroke-hunger-strike-and-fd9), said they’ve been refused a change of clothes, underwear or towels, and [advocates have reported](https://prismreports.org/2025/10/21/disabled-immigrants-adelanto-detention/) inadequate access to [clean food and water](https://laist.com/brief/news/adelanto-ice-processing-center-solitary-conditions-preliminary-injunction-hearing) and other unsafe and unsanitary conditions. It’s been the subject of multiple federal investigations and [civil rights lawsuits](https://abc7.com/post/federal-lawsuit-alleges-poor-conditions-adelanto-ice-processing-center/18480494/), and the [California Attorney General’s office has found staffing has failed to keep up with the growing number of detainees](https://archive.is/JpSNn).
