I came across this discussion on a Maharashtra-related subreddit, and the comments go considerably further than simply expressing a preference for Marathi.

The OP appears to openly acknowledge that the post was motivated by personal jealousy and hatred, and that he deliberately wanted to provoke and spread hostility toward people from Uttar Pradesh/Hindi-speaking backgrounds. He also encourages similar behaviour from others and discusses doing it for attention/karma.

In another comment, he reportedly justifies the behaviour along the lines of: if politicians can use hatred to gain power, why shouldn’t ordinary people do the same?

There is also a claim that he was paid by a local political group to make the content. That part should be treated as an allegation unless there is independent evidence confirming it.

Whatever someone’s position on Marathi, Hindi, migration, or Maharashtra’s cultural identity, deliberately encouraging people to discriminate against others because of their regional or linguistic background is a different matter.

I’m posting the screenshots here because this goes beyond a disagreement over language policy. The relevant question is whether deliberately creating hostility toward people from another state and encouraging others to participate in it should be considered acceptable simply because it generates attention or karma.
