I’m 33 and have been working in a PSU bank for 10+ years. I’m seriously thinking about a career transition, but haven’t figured out the exact direction yet.

My educational background gives me an option to explore IT/technology-related roles, but I’m not looking at pure technical or coding-heavy work. I’m more interested in areas where technology, banking, risk, compliance, audit, vigilance or governance come together.

For those who have made a transition after 10+ years in banking.

How did you figure out your next direction? What skills or certifications actually helped?

I had a Bank of Maharashtra FI-Mahabank Lok Bachat Yojana savings account opened in 2015 when I was a minor. I never used it — no deposits or withdrawals (account balance 0 at the time)— and it's been inactive for around 11 years.

Recently, when I checked my CIBIL score on GPay, It had dropped from 782 to 670 in just a month. I only have one credit card on which I have never missed a payment and no active loans either. My credit report shows:

• Account type: Temporary Overdraft
• Status: Active
• 3 late payments
• Last updated: July 2026

I have never knowingly taken an overdraft or loan.

I contacted customer care, but they couldn't provide details. I then visited the branch. They told me that some COVID-era facility apparently enabled the overdraft, and that the amount is only ₹3. They advised me to close the account and said my score should recover over time.

What I'm confused about is why there is an overdraft/₹3 negative balance and, more importantly, why 3 late payments were reported when I never used the account or took an overdraft.

Should I just close the account and wait, or should I ask the bank to investigate/correct the 3 late-payment entries and dispute them with CIBIL?

Any advice from people familiar with CIBIL/BOM would be appreciated.
