Moving to Inglewood from Denver — looking for advice from locals
I’m from Denver, Colorado, specifically Northeast Park Hill, and I’m planning on moving to Inglewood soon. I’m looking at Inglewood because I feel like it lines up with a lot of what I’m looking for: community, Black culture, creativity, and being close to the energy of Los Angeles.
I’m a recording artist, producer, content creator, and motivational speaker. I’ve already spent time in LA and parts of South Central LA (Crenshaw, Compton, Watts, etc.) promoting my music and connecting with the community. Coming from Denver, I’ve always felt a strong connection between Denver and LA, especially through music, culture, and the Black communities in both cities.
I’m trying to find an area in Inglewood that feels like home while also putting me in the best position creatively.
My priorities are:
Affordability
Being in/near a historically Black neighborhood
Being close to South Central culture
Having access to studios, networking, events, and creative opportunities
Being close to the beach (Venice, Santa Monica)
Finding a neighborhood that feels authentic and community-oriented
For people who live or have lived in Inglewood:
What areas would you recommend for someone like me?
Are there specific neighborhoods or streets I should focus on?
What areas give the best balance of culture, safety, and access to everything?
I’d really appreciate advice from people who know Inglewood firsthand.
