How can I fix ?

How can I remove this ingrown toenail I’ve tried removing skin to get to the nail but there is tissue under it and the nail is digging in to it

How long until you could walk around normally?

I have a partial avulsion next week with a podiatrist. I know everyone is different and I will need to ask her for more details but I’m wondering how long it was until you could resume normal activity? I walk 20 min to and from work and have a desk job. I don’t want to miss too much time away from the office if I can help it as I’ve got depositions coming up I need to prepare for.

And how long until you could resume jogging?

Chronic ingrown toenails trying to grow them out advice?

I have suffered with ingrown toenails for years and I have one had a procedure done to remove it but alas it came back. Both of my big toes are usually going though it with the infections caused by the ingrown. I have always managed it by ripping my toenail to the side to my nail itself is sort of in a half moon shape. Because of this my skin has folded over where my nail should be making my efforts to try and grow them out very painful and again infected. I am unsure of what to do now being that the last procedure not only did not fix this issue but also caused me a severe amount of trauma so I am unwilling to do it again unless I can figure out some way to get iv sedation for it along with a way to stop the nail from growing under my skin. Any advice on how to push my folded over skin to kick this issue once and for all?

Is this a spicule on my daughters toe?

This is my 8 month old daughter’s toenail. She has a proclivity for standing on her toes. Is this a spicule? Did the toe standing likely cause it? it’s like a small nail shard coming out the side of her toenail, it’s hard not soft, but I can move it back and forth without bothering her. I can trim it but it grows back. Not tried to pull it yet for fear of hurting her. Never had any issues with my nails so not seen anything like this before. Best to leave it or see a podiatrist?

What is wrong with my toe and can I fix it at home?

So for some context I think it’s an ingrown toenail that got infected. I soak it in an epsom salt bath once a day( heard I should do it 3-4 times) and I clean it with anti septic and then apply a triple antibiotic ointment. It’s been almost a week and I’m seeing little to know improvement so I tried to reach under and cut the nail my self that’s why it looks so haggard. Is it still possible to fix at home or do I just go to a pediatrician.

this nail used to be an ingrown for years, then it developed a fungal infection

It currently looks like it’s gonna come off and it’s peeling, will it come off and will a new nail start to grow under ir? It has happened to me once on my other foot, but that one didn’t have fungus, just ingrown over and over again, and it grew away with a new nail under it. I’m currently struggling cuz I want to hide it during the summer.

Going on surgery in two days, will they send me home or injections work with infection

Hi, I am going for partial avulsion in two days as title said, I am anxious a lot because of the needles. My question is do you think anesthesia works also if infected a little, because i dont want it to work half only or wear off during surgery. And how bad needles hurt

Permanent toenail removal

Hi! Seeking advice from people, primarily women, who have had to have their big toenails permanently removed. I may have to have this done as both of my big toes are permanently damaged. This started from trauma but fake nails made the problem worse over time :( Curious how the experience was for you and how they are healed years later. I am primarily concerned with the cosmetic outcome…..I would love to wear sandals again confidently. So insecure about the state of my toes now. Please comment your experience and how they look now.

infected

so i accidentally made a huge mistake and got a bit too trimmer-happy trimming my big toe nail and cut it too short, and it became ingrown i am pretty sure. but it is not ingrown in the way i have seen where the nail looks like a c-shape from the tip of toe view, it looks like swollen skin grew over it. i think it is infected because it is red and has a bit of pus. the pain and swelling have honestly gotten much better over the past 72 hours, though, i mean it was throbbing at one point. i have been cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and an alcohol prep pad followed by antibacterial otc ointment, and i have noticed some improvement in swelling/pain/pus/redness. i mean the peak of the infection wa honestly not that bad at all, definitely minor compared to what i have seen on this sub (so sorry for what some of y;all have had to endure). anyways, what i am trying to get at is, if i keep up vigilant at-home care should this heal on its own? the infection and the ingrown? my research has all pointed me to visit urgent care/podiatrist, but it is honestly not that bad (only hurts if i bump it/press on it). i'm not really comfortable with attaching a pic of my toe, so i have tried to be as detailed as. possible.

the pic attached is one i found online, i feel like i'm maybe at like a stage 2.4 just because i do have the slightest bit of pus, but it is not that red or swollen.

tl;dr : I have a pretty minor infection, will the ingrown and infection heal without doctor with vigilant care?

EDIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ingrown_Toenails/comments/1uahi74/4_years_of_pain/

i'd say mine looks like this user's ingrown. from what i gathered, this user started getting chronic ingrowns after a surgery and did not visit a doctor until they got tired of the recurring issues. like i said, mine was he result of cutting toe nail way too short. hope this can be helpful.

Partial toenail avulsion with phenol

Hi everyone

I recently had a partial toenail avulsion done with phenol to kill the matrix as I had an involuted nail on the outer side that went vertical and dug in.

I’m a bit concerned as it seems the podiatrist has gone further across to the left than I expected, so the toenail is now quite unbalanced across the toe. Could this cause problems in terms of greater walking force pressure on the new edge, leading to more in growing nails?

Thanks!☺️

Granulation tissue on my toe

Ive been going to the same podiatrist for ca. 6 months to treat my toe. I think it developed because i cut my nail the wrong way. I now have this brace, so that it grows the correct way. My podiatrist says, the rissue will leave once the corner is growing outside the tissue.

I will travel abroad in the middle of september, and i have another appointment a few days before. I would like the tissue to not burden me anymore till then.

It doesnt hurt when walking barefoot and in comfortable shoes, it doesnt fester, though it does smell bad. I desinfect it daily and leave rivanol on it each night.

So my question: whats the best method to remove it before my trip? Im afraid waiting til september for it to go away on its own is too risky. I saw silver nitrate sticks on amazon, but im afraid the tissue is to big for that to be effective.

Is surgical removal possible? And how long will it heal? Are there any other methods?

Thanks in advance

7 minutes of my home removal. TW: Blood.

Waited 3 months for this day. Nail wasn't growing back right so I took matters into my own hands. Shitty clipping job? ✅️ Shitty camera placement? ✅️ Satisfying removal? ✅️

Ingrown toenail, little bit of pain n feels warm. Didn't notice any pus or discharge. I'm in a pretty bad spot for treatment for the next week, can I do nothing and treat it after that?
