May Valley Rd closure through end of August

Please remember that May Valley Rd is closed (not just under construction, but closed) at 233rd Way SE. you cannot get to Issaquah Hobart Rd from May Valley or to May Valley from Issaquah Hobart.

And? If you try to go down 233rd Way SE, it’s a dead end.

Thanks, #KingCountyDOT for installing signs that people don’t understand.

Future of the gravel pit

What's the future of this gravel pit mine in Issaquah?

How is this space going to be used, if it's closed or close to its end of life?

How safe and stable do Bellevue and Issaquah feel for families today?

My family and I are from Japan and are considering moving to either Bellevue or Issaquah with our young child, and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who currently live there (or have within the last couple of years).
From a day-to-day perspective, how safe and stable do you honestly feel living there?

The specific areas we’re considering are:
Bellevue: near Downtown Park.
Issaquah: Gilman area

I’m especially interested in things like:

Whether you feel comfortable walking with young children during the day or evening.
Whether homelessness, drug use, theft, or crime have affected your daily life in any meaningful way.
Whether you’ve changed your routines because of safety concerns.
Whether you feel the area has improved, stayed about the same, or gotten worse over the past few years.

I’m looking for honest firsthand experiences—positive or negative—not trying to confirm any particular opinion. Thank you!

*edited to add specific areas we’re interested in

Sunny Hills Elementary

Hi! We are moving to Issaquah and my son will be in kindergarten in the fall. Would love to hear from any current or former parents about their experience at Sunny Hills Elementary. My priorities for my child are safety, community, and a great teacher to get him really excited about school and foster his love of learning. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Issaquah Redditors have been busy

It is back yet again. Issaquah Redditors are keeping it real. Bonus points for finding white shoe polish. I have not seen that since the 70s.

Bird ID?

Apologies if this is common and well known, I’ve been here forever but don’t get out enough. What’s this bird I saw at Issaquah Creek? Seemingly VERY large but no guess how big, just perched, hardly moved. Wish I got better photos or had better scale.

Issaquah Commons charging station completion

They are sooooo close to finally being done with the charging station in the Commons!! It’s only been almost 3 years in the making!! The pattern now is major work will be done and then they’ll be a 2 to 3 week stall. 😩. They still have to replace like 6 or 7 cables that were cut a long time ago. Fingers crossed it’s done before the end of the year!!

Which one of you did this?

Now I'm even more curious about the La-Z-Boy.

This town is full of mysteries.

What Do You Make Of This? (DevylBear's Lil Curiosity)

On the Sunday after going to Pride Day in Seattle (Pride Parade and PrideFest @ Seattle Center), and getting 2 freebies @ Safeway @ Issaquah Commons, I came across this ad on the 271 route towards downtown Issaquah [Creative District, the nickname now known]. I'm wondering for those whom rode that route as I did, what do you make of this? Just curious 🤔.

Found a baby bird

Looking for guidance here. There was a maintenance crew that came and cleaned the dryer vents and looks like they blew out a nest during cleaning.
I found the baby bird and its destroyed nest in a bush. I have put the bird in the clean wash cloth with its partial nest inside a box. Is there anything else I can do to keep it safe and comfy?
I found some sanctuary places but aren’t open til tomorrow AM.

Does anyone have a map of where EzeeFiber service?

Just moved to the area and only option is xfinity. I absolutely hate it after having fiber for years. It looks like when it's time for me to move again I can go to north Sammamish to get ziply again, but I see EzeeFiber is in some parts of Issaqua, wanting to know where so I could target those areas or scan those area for places

Wisdom Teeth Removal Dr Recs

I’ve recently been told I need to get my wisdom teeth removed. I’m looking for a doctor that either offers payment plans or just a bit more reasonable. I have insurance but it won’t cover the whole thing.
I’m willing to drive up to an hour away.
Just want to hear peoples experiences with doctors near by.
Thanks!

Place to measure infant feet for shoes?

We live in Issaquah and need to find a business that will measure feet for a 15 month old for shoes. He has wide feet that are kind of tall and won’t fit in just any shoe. Does anyone know if there’s a place nearby we can go to find shoes?

Nanny share family & Potential Nannies!

Hi everyone! We’re looking for a nanny share starting in August for our baby, who will be 4 months old at that time.

Location: Issaquah- Klahanie (near QFC)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM

We’re hoping to connect with another family interested in a nanny share and are open to hosting at our home. We don’t have a nanny lined up yet, so we’d also love to hear from experienced nannies who may be interested in working with two families.

We’re flexible on the arrangement and happy to discuss details to find a good fit for everyone.

If you’re interested, know a family looking for a nanny share, or are a nanny seeking a position, please comment below or send me a message.

Thank You!

Got a new job in Issaquah - where is within commuting distance?

Good morning

I'm anticipating an offer for a job in Issaquah, and I'm trying to get a better idea of housing costs. Pretty obviously, some areas are more expensive than others, so I'm trying to figure out what a reasonable geographic range to look at might be. With that in mind, would anyone be able to give me any idea of what areas would be within a roughly 45 minute daily commute to Issaquah?
