College Choice

86k rank + gen male+ home state~ Punjab

NIT Agartala
NIT Srinagar

Rest private and low IIIT
Branch doesn’t matter for me (Obviously not textile, biotech or metallurgy), only college does.

Any senior who had sc certificate during doc verification. Please say which certificate did you use . I have my state issued certificate and they say there is nothing as central certificate. All I can do is get a sign in the prescribed format . Please reply seniors 🙏🙏. It's urgent

What should I prepare beforehand?

I have no idea what happens in this counselling and I don't know what needs to be prepared beforehand. I see a lot of posts of people preparing caste certificates and what not And I don't know what I should have with me, and tell me if there are stuff (like some declaration or gap year certificate) that need to be issued beforehand that take a while.

Title: "75k CRL, 95.2%ile — IIIT Vadodara ECE vs NIT Warangal 5-yr Integrated Sci — am I cooked or is one of these actually worth it? 💀" Post Body (make it engaging): Bhai log, need your brutally honest opinions. Got 75k CRL in JEE Mains. Here's my dilemma: Option A → IIIT Vadodara, ECE — but only

The "am I cooked" energy gets upvotes instantly

IIIT vs NIT debate always sparks heated replies

Asking about a border seat adds drama people love to weigh in on

You worked 2 years for JEE and now you're about to pick a college without doing 10 mins of research??

VNIT Nagpur in your counselling list? Genuine advice from someone who's been around 👇

Not gonna sugarcoat it — VNIT is solid but it's not a one-size-fits-all college.

What's actually good:

  • Brand name holds up well for a NIT, especially in Central India
  • CSE/ECE placements are decent, some good companies do show up
  • Campus is huge, fests are fun, life is chill
  • Nagpur is cheap to live in and surprisingly well connected

What people don't say out loud:

  • If you're getting a core branch, placements are a different story altogether
  • Nagpur has zero startup/tech ecosystem — don't expect the Bangalore NIT experience
  • NITs like Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal are genuinely a tier above in reputation

Still on the fence? There's a group of 2026 aspirants already debating this stuff in real time — branches, cutoffs, hostel, all of it.

Help me choose a college: prioritizing college life + placements

Hi everyone, I’m trying to decide between the following options and would really appreciate some advice from seniors or people with experience. My main priorities are overall college life, peer group, campus culture, and placements/career opportunities.

My options are:

NIT Trichy – Mechanical Engineering

NIT Rourkela – ECE

NIT Warangal – ECE

NIT Calicut – ECE

MNIT Jaipur – CSE

MNNIT Allahabad – CSE

NIT Kurukshetra – CSE

For context, I’m from Haryana (North India), so location and cultural familiarity are also small factors, but not my top priority.

If you had to choose considering long-term opportunities, placements, coding culture, exposure, and overall college experience, what would you pick and why?

Thanks in advance! 🙂
