Ever tried a WW2-only run?

I'm interested in starting a new 1.13 campaign with WW2 only loadouts. I want my team to consist of battle-hardened WW2 vets much like Eldin the guard in Balime. The goal is to beat the campaign using old geezers who had enough of the disrespect from younger generations. I can make IMPs with Veteran backgrounds and hire Pops.

Would it be possible to change the starting items to WW2 era and older? And the enemies still have modern weapons? I also want to change the Table XML to where the only guns that drop are M1911, Ithaca shotgun, sawed off, Tommy, Garands, etc.

All ammo types are allowed, most hand grenades, melee and knives are allowed, no grenade launchers but the Rifle Device is permissible, no C4 but C1/TNT is fine, no LAWs but the standard mortar is ok. I will try to beat the campaign at Ironman Expert. Insane would be too hard for me without modern guns.

JA2 : Tutorials/links/editors for creating user content?

I'm interested in creating custom content for Jagged Alliance 2 (I'm playing Stracciatella, but would switch to other versions if that makes things easier / more compatible). Sadly, the map editor included with it doesn't seem to work.

I'd really love to be able to make maps, tilesets, new mercs, guns, items, or do a bit of scripting. Whatever is out there! I've tinkered with other games, but never with JA2 despite loving the game.

Does anyone have any useful links, editors, or tutorials on getting started? What sort of stuff is possible without having to dive into the game's code and start modding it for real?

JA2 Reborn needs YOUR help!

Hey everyone,

I think JA2 Reborn is now pretty much in a mature state, so I’ve decided to finally address a major request from many users: mod support!

Since I haven’t had much experience with JA2 mods myself so far, I need your help now. Please share links to your favorite mods so I can get a good overview and implement as wide a range as possible. I’m not making any promises, except that I’ll do my best, as always!

While I’m at it, I’d like to remind everyone once again to update to the new v1.0.5 version. With the new auto-updater, you’ll be notified right away when the next version is ready for download. You can find the link here:

JA2 Reborn v1.0.5 download

Seeing that this will cost me my sleep again for the next days, I’m taking the liberty of dropping a hint about my coffee tip jar. You know... for survival. ☕

Keep me alive!

Now, throw those links my way in the comments!

Cheers, Tommy

Is there a reason to switch out mercs?

I just got Jagged Alliance 3 in the Steam Sales, and I have renewed the contracts of my mercs twice now, pretty good on money so far so I tried hiring "Buns" but she won't work with me because "Fox" is on my team, so I got thinking about how changing mercs works (with their invtory and stuff) and if it is even worth to change them since they get better with time.

So any veterans with some advice would he greatly appreciated.

Canon games

I was wondering which games are currently considered to be part of the offical canon. Since there are a lot of references to JA 1 and 2 in 3 I assume these games are still canon. But what about Flashback, Online and Rage?

Previously in Jagged Alliance...

Heya everyone, first post here because... I only discovered the game not so long ago. Someone recommended Jagged Alliance 3, it was exactly what I was looking for (and some more) and it was on sale for 8 bucks. Dove right in. Haven't stopped playing since and I absolutely love the game. The gameplay of course, but also the humor, the satire, the setting. Long live the Coffee Beans and the Junkyard Knights!
So, I started looking up this sub and realized that similarly to the Fallout community, there's a lot of nostalgia or pure preference for the earlier games. Correct me if I'm wrong, but JA2 is the one everyone loves the most, right?
Then I learned that there's many different versions of it and I don't understand exactly what's going on there. Why is JA3 considered less good? Why so many versions of JA2? Which one(s) should I get? Is JA1 worth it at all or has it badly aged? I also read about one game in the series that wasn't turn based, what's up with that? Anyway, it's all really confusing for a newcomer (who's late to the party).
Would someone be kind enough to bring me up to page on all this? I can pay in tiny diamonds.

JA1 gog bad quality midi fix?

Kinda want to replay JA1 for old times sake, but I'm turned off by the bleep bloop quality midi available on the gog release.
Are there any fixes for this?

Saw a game that's clearly trying to do what JA2 did

Warhounds. Turn-based, mercenaries with personality, mission-based structure, base between ops. Even the tone looks similar, that action movie seriousness JA2 had. Releasing in 2026, so keeping an eye on it.
