PSA: Waving

If you see me in my 2001 Patriot Blue in north Georgia and you are expecting a wave, you must provide any of the following:

  1. You must be driving a TJ, YJ, or CJ
  2. You must be driving any Jeep with hard top off or soft top down.

End of list.

JKs don’t wave generally but are somewhat more likely to if there are no ducks on the dash. JLs don’t wave at all. Gladiators also don’t wave at all. I will no longer wave at any JK or JL unless they wave first OR you’re riding open air. Open air jeeps are much more likely to wave. TJs don’t always wave but most do. Nearly all YJs and CJs wave, shout out to them.

Wheels n Tires

Hey guys so I was contemplating on getting my factory wheels powdercoated then realized its damn near the same cost as some budget friendly wheels. Also looking deeper I msy have to invest in new tires as well. Anyone have any good recommendations and sources? 31 10 50 r 17s are tire size id like to keep the same Daily driver plus weekend explorer 2000 Sport

New Engine 2000 Sahara…where do I start?

Last night my 2000 Sahara passed on. The engine has over 200k on it, and her time death was 9:03pm.

I’ve had an offer of $8k to buy a new crate engine and install. (I started looking a few months ago after a mechanic father in law said it doesn’t have much time left.)

Does $8k sound reasonable? Of course I’ll shop around, but I just wanted to know if there was any words of wisdom on the next steps.

(FYI My father in law went the Pugh the engine a few months ago. He is not in good enough health to take this on. If I decide to go through with it, he’s not an option.)

Is it Wrong I chuleo my LJ? (Chuleo is Colloquial Mexican to Fancy something. Fancy something is British to like something). I am Gaelic Spaniard. So hey. 🤷🏽‍♂️

2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Huskies are extra. Tummy tuck, SYE. Full lockers. On board ARB compressor. Tailgate drop down for grill. Aftermarket top with slide out windows (good for the Huskies). CB and HAM. Etc etc. I get giddy. Not showing off. Had an 06 and had to sell at one point.

I bought my TJ!!

It’s a beauty! Japanese import meaning the frame is pristine and with only 67k miles on the clock, we are going to have one hell of a journey! A things to be sorted out but my dream car has been secured 🤩

What oil?

I have a new long block in my 1997 4.0 Wrangler. I’ve been running 10W30 STP Conventional Oil, but they stopped carrying it at my local parts store. Because of the new long block, I really don’t want to switch from Conventional to Synthetic. I am looking into ordering conventional oil online. Do y’all have any specific suggestions? I was looking at this Castrol GTX 10W30 Conventional Oil, but it says it’s premium… which I don’t think I need. Pls advise!

Selling my 06 Rubicon - Fix front diff or sell at a discount.

I'm looking to sell my 2006 Rubicon... but, it is currently just a 2wd. I pulled the front driveshaft and axle shafts a few months ago when I discovered some minor bearing noise while spinning the front wheels while in the air. I took it to my local reputable 4x4 shop who quoted me $1,500 to r&r the bearings/seals, and set the gear lash. So, should I find a way to pay for the repair or just list it $2k-$3k less than comparable Rubicons in my area?

It finally happened....

Light came on... first time 🥳... took a quick glance at the o2 sensors and wiring looks ok, notjing melted. Fuses are on there good. Any ideas? Didn't have much time to look further yet. Cleared the codes but have a bit of a drive back home later so we shall see if they come back up. Running fine, nothing different. (It listed 8 codes but some were repetitive) thanks!

I’m potentially buying a 2004 TJ guys. Help needed on what to look out for please? I know the issues on rust being the main issue, and although I can’t see the frame here, the pictures look clean here no? It is also. Japanese import so hoping that should be fine 😬🤞
