This old girl has been a blast, but she has over 250k miles now and starting to show her age, I've been getting a little worried taking it out on longer adventures lately might leave be stranded one day... if I sold and started a fresh build on a new 26 Willys would I regret it?
Am I crazy for thinking I can fix this thing? I got it for free from my stepdad who was the original owner before he died. Engine blew up about 5 years ago and it’s been in my garage since. Was going to replace the engine, but it’s got a good amount of rust. Pretty normal for New England unfortunately. Thinking I’ll pull the whole thing apart and fix it as best I can. Do you guys think it’s fixable or too far gone? Probably gonna do it either way, just curious what everyone thinks. Also what do you think escaped the engine when it blew up? Not a mechanic so not really sure what I’m looking at.

My friends ZJ ‘97. Pretty similar to our TJs. We replaced the water pump and thermostat 2 days ago. Been driving for a few hours which was a good sign. The Jeep would over heat after 30 minutes before. We had water in the reservoir so it might have been that . But we’re stuck on the side of the road for now giving her time to cool off
I had my pinion bearing replaced and the seal is different than the original. Is the new seal missing a dust cover, or is it just a different style? Thank you for your time.
I have a 2003 jeep Rubicon the transfer case broke in 2 when the rear drive shaft broke. So I put a 231 transfer case in because I just wanted to get it moving again until I get the money for the Rubicon transfer case. But im having trouble with the rear drive shaft
I been trying to find a drive shaft for a 3 or 4 inch lift on a normal tj but having trouble with that if someone could PLEASE PLEASE help me with a sight or ebay account that I could get a drive shaft so I dont have the weird vibration. I dont dare drive it until i get the right drive shaft.
It has been 105 degrees around me the last two days. Mine runs a little hot but no overheating yet.
I love the traditional rubicon Moab wheels, but I feel like black rims might look better with the yellow paint. I cannot decide.
Which do you prefer?
(PS - I’m repainting my OEM fenders so those will look black again soon).
Third time trying to seat it and it's the last ball joint to replace . Upper passenger side. I guess I'll throw in the old one sadly until I get another. Or I'll try in the morning, been at this for 7 hours.
Maybe return the covers too?
Look at what you think the value of this jeep would be. It’s a ‘98 TJ, around 150,000km. Has a hard top and a bikini top. Engine is great, new battery, 2 sets of rims for winter and summer tires. Its has two owners. It does have some rust spots but most spots are replaceable. According to the owner.
I am potentially going to trade my 1972 boler for it plus some cash but wanted to see what reddit has to say.

Any ideas? It’s been this way since I bought it. I assume someone broke into it for a previous owner. My problem is it flies open when I’m driving down the road if I take my arm off (doors/windows off). The latch mechanism works perfectly fine but it has nothing to latch too
Finished the ZJ steering upgrade. Along with fresh fluids in everything. Don’t mind that oil slick, tried dropping the transmission pan with taking off the skid, it’s was messy and still ended taking off the skid to do it right.
73xxx 03 Rubicon 5spd 2nd owner 🤙🏻 inspection flares are temporary, debating on repainting over the flames. Cowl hood is functional, Kenne Bell twin screw underneath it.
Hey all. My first LJ and I’ve had an issue recently w my 4x4 handle being totally loose and not engaging. Got underneath and noticed the pin connecting the small rod popped out. I was able to get it back in and it will engage again. I’ve heard the best option is to mod this to a cable system. While I save a little $ for that is there a temp fix to keep this from popping out. I finally Pulled the trigger on the bronze wheels with 33s for my TJ. I wanted something different from the blacked out look I always see. It looks awesome. What do you guys think? 😊
I have a stock hard top on my 2005 tj sport.
I'm looking at a "Trektop® Slantback Jeep Wrangler Soft Top" but I'm confused by the lack of information on the official website.
#1 does the $850 purchase on the website include all the necessary hardware (remember my TJ has never had a sort top)
#2 does the top open up like a sunroof for the driver and passenger (not the back seats) , does it open like the following example....
Example.... A family member has a 4 door jeep with a best top and he unlatches the 2 latches by the visor, then he literally flips it back and he's ready to go. It takes him literally 15 seconds to open it up.
