Jetstar worst experience

Our flight to Adelaide was supposed to board at 12:10pm from Terminal 2 in Perth. Around 10 of us were waiting at the check-in area from about 10:45am and there was literally NO staff at the booth the entire time.
By around 11:20am everyone started panicking because boarding time was getting close and there was still nobody there to help. We ran around trying to find any Jetstar worker and couldn’t find anyone at T2. Then we even went to T1 Domestic looking for staff and still couldn’t find anyone.
After running back and forth across terminals, we finally discovered Jetstar had set up the check-in at the INTERNATIONAL departure area for a DOMESTIC Adelaide flight. Who the hell checks the international section when flying domestic?
To make it worse, the flight wasn’t even showing properly on the domestic departure boards. It was only appearing on the international board, which makes absolutely no sense for a domestic flight.
With only about 10 minutes left, one lady finally showed up and redirected all of us. By then it was too late and we got pushed onto a flight the next day instead.
The service desk staff acted annoyed at us the whole time like this was somehow our fault. Calling Jetstar support just leads to useless AI responses, and their live chat wasted nearly 2 hours only to end with “we’ll create a case” after asking for a refund and compensation.
Jetstar used to be decent but this experience was an absolute mess. Zero communication, no staff around, confusing terminal setup, terrible customer service, and no accountability.
Do better, Jetstar.

Advice about best way to get refund/insurance

Hi, I’m looking for some advice about whats the best way to go about cancelling some upcoming flights.

Basically there’s 5 of us planning on flying domestically to watch one of us in a major sporting event. Unfortunately, the athlete has just been injured and likely will be unable to attend. All of us are flying up on different days/flying back around our work schedule, but the flights were all booked by 1 person (not sure if this is relevant)

We were planning on buying the Jetstar insurance, and then once the athlete has a medical certificate stating they can’t compete, using this as evidence for the insurance to get credits from Jetstar. But looking at the insurance policy now, it seems this is unlikely to work and they will claim that this is a ‘change of mind’ which they don’t cover.

If anyone had advice about the best way to manage this that would be great.

Thanks!

Flight name transfer $500 penalty.

G’day I’m supposed to be flying with my daughter on Thursday to Sydney (returning Sat). I’m now coming down sick & figured I could change the ticket from my name to my partner’s. Rang Jetstar & was told I’m liable to the tune of $500 to change a name. The tickets cost a total of $380 for the 2 of us to fly to Sydney & back. Surely there’s another way around this? $50 admin fee I could cope with but $500 is criminal

Flying Jetstar from Melbourne to Osaka, layover for a couple of hours in BNE

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows whether bags are checked all the way through on a Qantas points booking with Jetstar-operated flights.

I’m flying MEL → BNE → Osaka, all booked together through Qantas using points, but all flights are Jetstar. Will I need to collect my bags in Brisbane and re-check them / go through international bag drop and security again, or are they transferred automatically?

Thanks!

Traveling Jetstar International with a compact stroller (56x23x36) - Gate check vs. Carry-on experiences?

Hi everyone,

I’m flying international with Jetstar soon from Melbourne (to Vietnam) with my baby and I’m trying to figure out the best move for our stroller. It’s a foldable model (56cm x 23cm x 36cm), which I know technically fits the cabin dimensions.

However, I’d prefer to gate-check it so I don't have to worry about the 7kg carry-on weight limit or taking up locker space.

A few questions for those who have flown Jetstar recently:

  • Gate Check: Have you had any issues gate-checking a stroller of this size for free (not counting as baggage)? Did they insist it be in a bag even for the cargo hold?
  • International Arrivals: In your experience, do you get the stroller back at the gate when you land, or do you have to wait until the oversized baggage carousel? (Worried about navigating immigration line without it!)
  • Staff Strictness: Are they usually pretty relaxed about 'infant items' at the gate, or should I be prepared for them to weigh it?

Would love to hear any 'lessons learned' from parents who have done this route recently. Thanks

Domestic flight - not flying leg 1. What happens

Hi all

I've heard of Do not shows for international flights. But is it the same for domestic?

So.

I have MEL to SYD return booked. Me, my partner and child all booked together on one PNR.

My work now needs me to go up the week before to Sydney. I'm trying to avoid coming back to Melbourne to then just fly straight back up.

If I stay up there and my partner and child come to meet me to have our holiday, can I still use my return flight on my own flight ticket?

Will it affect my husband and child coming up?

Can we do online check in but then I don't fly to get around the Did Not Show?

Pooling checked luggage on international flights?

Asking here because finding answers on the Jetstar website seems to be impossible

Are you able to pool luggage in a family group (all names under the same booking reference) on international flights?

Travelling to Phuket from Sydney and can't figure out if this is allowed
