Just move

I can't understand it that whenever somebody is complaining about where they live, sometimes pointing out minor issues, and Judge Judy tells them to just move. Does she not understand that sometimes financially that is not always possible?

Same police officer but different cases

Remember, there was an episode of Judge Judy years ago where a police officer was wrongly accused by an older woman of being very inappropriate with her, and then some years later, that very same officer was accused again, this time by another woman, of doing the same thing. Am I remembering that episode correctly, or was it two different police officers?

Good Ad Placement!

Picture taken by me in Calgary. The building behind the advertisement for Judge Judy & Hot Bench is a courthouse.

Looking for info regarding a Texas apartment security deposit dispute (Houston area).

I lived in my apartment from June 2022-February 2026 (almost 4 years). After move-out, the apartment kept my full $250 deposit AND is claiming I still owe an additional ~$89 for drywall repair/painting and stovetop resurfacing.

The reason I’m disputing it is because:

  • I have extensive move-out photos and video documentation showing the apartment was left in very clean condition.
  • I also have a move-in email from management documenting multiple issues with the apartment when I first moved in (stains, cleanliness issues, etc.).
  • I’ve repeatedly requested itemized invoices, photos of alleged damages, and move-in/move-out inspection reports.
  • They acknowledged my dispute, assigned an account specialist, and asked for 7 business days to review, but I still haven’t received any actual proof/documentation.

My argument is basically that after nearly 4 years of tenancy, repainting/minor wall wear would fall under normal wear and tear, not tenant damage.

At this point I’m trying to decide:

  1. Is this worth pursuing further?
  2. Has anyone successfully handled something similar in Texas small claims/Justice Court?
  3. Is it realistic to consult a lawyer for something this small, or would legal fees outweigh the dispute?
  4. Does anyone know of any Houston tenant-rights resources or attorneys who handle these kinds of cases affordably?

I’m not trying to profit from this — I just don’t want to pay unsupported charges and lose my deposit if the damages can’t actually be substantiated.
