I’m building an ultra-lightweight ESP32 KNX-to-Matter bridge. Currently only supports On/Off & Dimming via IP. Am I wasting my time or would anyone actually use this?

I am working on my first knx installation in a home that has plasterboard walls throughout.

I have selected this box for mounting the mdt switches

I have also purchased the correct holesaw for the kaiser box.

In Australia the holes for accessing power points etc is done after the plaster work and painting are complete

My question is:

How do I protect the green knx cable when I use the holesaw?
Eg do i use making tape to hold the cable out of the way before plasterboard?

Hello, we’re looking for a product (device, server, touchscreen, or iOS app) to fully control a Sonos multi-zone system.

We need to:

Group/ungroup zones

Control individual zone volume within groups plus a master volume

Keep synced playback across zones (Spotify, Tidal, etc.)

Manage music source and playback from a single interface

Ideally, it also serves as a central home control system (lighting, shades, HVAC, etc.) via wall panel or iOS app.

We’re specifically looking for full Sonos grouping and volume control, not just basic playback.

I think I'm getting to a point where I need to choose room controllers for our main living spaces (two kids room, master bedroom).

Each controller will need to manage the following:

• main lights
• bedside lights
• LED strip
• blinds
• heating

For now I'm considering https://www.mdt-group.com/products/product-detail/sensors/assortment-55/push-button-smart-55.html . However, I’m wondering if it will be practical and offer enough control for all these functions.

Does anyone have experience using these? Are there any alternative options you’d recommend? Or should I consider smart 86 from MDT?

In case you haven't seen it: the KNX Association opened public voting for the Product Award. Many products released in the last two years, voting closes 31 August.

Full disclosure first: we're one of them, with the Windancer 2.0 GPS KNX sec. So yes, we'd be happy with your vote. That's not really why we're posting though.

The list is worth a look on its own. There's an EV charger, a window sensor, LED drivers, IoT routers and hubs, a stack of push-buttons and touch panels, and three weather stations, ours among them. Two years of KNX releases on one page is a decent snapshot of where the standard is actually heading, and a fair bit of it never makes it past the manufacturer newsletters.

So which one would you vote for, and why? We're curious whether what impresses manufacturers is the same as what impresses the people who install them.
