Don't trust ETS Backups!

When I save my ETS project locally I always click the little icon to create a backup drive. Today I tested those backups out and the last 3 are corrupted archives. They have various header issues.

I had to go all the way back to March 2026 to find an intact backup!

Report rule breaking comments, don't argue

My goal for this sub is that it's like a big FAQ, where the post is the question and the top comment is the answer. False, hateful, unhelpful, joking comments get deleted but I need your help to report those rule-breaking comments.

If someone writes a comment that you believe to contain incorrect information or otherwise rule breaking, report it, do not start an argument. Save me from having to delete a whole comment tree in this garbage UI because you want to win an argument online.

Also moderator applications will be opening as soon as I figure out how the moderator application feature works.

A seguire cibo e musica in piazza.

Ci vuole!

Gemini Grounded search free tier with billing enabled - Fake news?

I have a billing-enabled project that utilizes Gemini Grounded search through the gemini-3.5-flash-lite model. This model includes, "5,000 free search requests per month (shared across all Gemini 3.x models), then $14 per 1,000 requests."

However 4 days into September, this is what my billing looks like for those two SKUs:

Day(s) Free queries Paid queries
August 31 1,419 0
September 1 to 4 289 7,295

I had Gemini review the billing report but it responded with outdated daily limits and other nonsense.

Is the free tier real or not? Is it rate limited? I can't find any documentation.

Rule 3: If you can't be nice, it's time to go

I'm exhausted. If you don't like immigrants, what the fuck are you doing in a sub about immigrants in Italy?

Any posts or comments expressing xenophobic or racist sentiments will earn a permanent ban.

If immigrants scare you, here's how to protect yourself:

Step 1: Unsubscribe from r/ItalyExpat
Step 2: Click on the three dots at the top right
Step 3: Click on "Mute r/ItalyExpat"

If you see xenophobic or racist comments, report them. Let's clean this sub up.

This post has an 82.9% upvote ratio, meaning there's 17.1% of you who need to follow steps 1 to 3 above.

New rule: No overly general posts

Lately there have been a glut of lazy posts like, "I want to live in Italy, where should I move to?" and "I want to work in Italy, where can I find a job?" These are now disallowed.

Not allowed:

"I want to live in Italy, tell me everything I'll ever need to know."

Allowed:

"My partner and I have decided to move to Italy and we're looking for recommendations for good neighborhoods around Genova."

This is an admittedly subjective rule but if your post is closed due to Rule 9, just create a new post with more detail. Tell us about yourself, give us context.
