Marella has escaped slander too long

I'm not pissed because Marella has negative character traits or says dumb stuff. Is it understandable for her to resent Sophie for "abandoning" her in book 3? Well, she was a 13 year old going through stuff at home, so yeah.

But dear Lord, the stuff this girl says afterward.

"Why didn't you invite me to run away with you?" after you literally told her she's too dangerous and everyone who hangs around with her will die.

"Oh Sophie how dare you forget me" every time, like YOU PUBLICLY HUMILIATED HER, what did you expect to happen??

After Sophie almost dies and is in the ICU for weeks Marella doesn't call or visit once. Then she turns around and has the audacity to say "you never told me about battle training, don't you care?" Girl, don't you??? Sophie had basically NO HAND BONES for WEEKS and you couldn't spare 5 minutes of your day to check on her???

And the worst part is that the story acts like she's right to be mad. Sophie's out here apologising like she's the one who broke off their friendship. Hello?? Stop telling her you'll be there for her more often! You already tried to help and she pushed you away!!

All I'll say is thank GOD Sophie grew a spine in book 9 and stopped acting guilty about it.

What one small thing from the Lost Cities would you want to have irl?

I know the obvious answer is the unlimited birth fund, but let's get creative. What little annoyances or problems would a Lost Cities item solve in your life?

Personally, I'd just want a branch of the Pures (the trees that purify air) to carry around in my pocket. There's a lot of old diesel buses and trucks where I live that quite literally spew black smoke in your face when you're walking. Also, I hate having to walk behind people who are smoking/vaping so a free purifier would stop me from crashing out...

My general theory on Dexiana (Dex x Biana) and Tiana (Tam x Biana) (Spoilers for all released books)

I'm tired (it's approx. 1 AM where I live lol) so theres going to be terrible grammar in this!

Spoilers for books 4-9

I think that Biana initially had a small crush on Tam and vice versa during books 4-6 that became friendship during book 7 and then she slowly grew to like Dex romantically and more than a friend. Sorry if this theory is common. Have a great day/night!

Maybe someone actually has an explanation for this

Rereading the series, I've noticed this little detail:

in Book 1 when Sophie moves in to Grady and Edaline Alden says that he has personally chosen them as Sophie's guardians

in Book 8, though, Oralie claims it's her who's suggested Grady and Edaline to the Council

thoughts on this?

I'm writing an au

It's about Sophie and her friends taking control of the lost cities during the events of loadstar a small poem - hint "he watched them with their mighty armours leaving and giving him a sign of pity until she looked at him her expression was pure disappointment"

Update on yesterdays news

I was very very wrong and many people in the comments were very very right about what it would be..

it was about the other series!

trying not to be disappointed because I was expecting something a little bit more exciting but I’m happy for her. the covers are lovely! I haven’t had the chance to read her other series yet but I do already own the books with a different cover (the drawn cover). i guess I’ll have to find time to read them but I don’t think I’d buy the new version especially since I already own them. Exciting for Shannon though for sure

Just wishing it was some keeper news 😔✌️

Some news is coming tomorrow!

I suggest you watch her video to understand what I’m getting at when I talk about what I think will be coming tmr!!

If you can’t watch the video: to sum it up Shannon was comparing how luck plays a part in publishing book. KOTLC got lucky while her other series Let the Sky Fall just wasn’t as lucky. Hense why so many readers don’t know she has another book series... And then she mentioned for us to come back tmr for some news that makes her beyond excited!

So.. what could it be??

In the video Shannon mentioned that KOTLC has a movie adaptation signed by Warner bros (which we knew) but it kind of has gotten lost in translation because no news has come out about it!

I think that we will be getting news about the movie and possible a release date? Heck- what if it’s a trailer and we just didn’t know it was going on (probably not this)

I personally hope we get the book cover but based on the video I think we will be getting movie news!

An EPIC Alternative to the Grand Hall Showdown | Legacy

So while I was rereading Legacy, I felt really annoyed with the hoplessness of Sophie and her teammates. Therefore, I wrote my own version of the fight. It's my first fanfic ever so I gope you guys enjoy it ❤️

The scenario happens in Legacy chapter 50 directly after the line:

> Tam nodded and raised his arms—then turned back to Lady Gisela and reminded her, “We have a deal.”

As Sophie saw Tam's raised arms while she is restrained like that.. she began to take the full weight of the situation.. how helpless they were.. how weak.. how pathetic. She felt unusual heaviness in her chest, she felt a new level of disappointment she didn't experience before. She felt very insignificant and weak. Everything was pointless. All her abilities were useless against their enemies. All her friends did their best and didn't accomplish a thing. All the mighty councilors couldn't handle the situation. The Neverseen were always a thousand steps ahead. They knew what she didn't. They had what she didn't. They always win. Sophie always loses. She felt despair.

Suddenly, time seemed to stop. The mix of feelings of disappointment, the situation and the exact word "despair" triggered a deep memory. A very deep memory she lost herself while remembering. The voice of two elves speaking in unison.

Sophie.. you're incredible.. you're limitless.. you're the moonlark.

you're meant to survive.. you're meant to change.. don't let despair put limits to you.. we didn't put limits to your power.. you set them.. you break them.. you have the decision and the ability to do so.. you have the choice..
Break your limits.. stretch your wings infinitely

"Stretch your wings infinitely" whispered Sophie.

Her mind came into focus again. Apparently, she was lost in thought for a fraction of a second. She felt a kind of clarity in her mind she didn't feel before... almost like some kind of wall has been lowered.. a gate to even greater distances. She knew what to do.

She stretched her consciousness.. feeling everyone's thoughts in a 25-meter radius and pinpointed their exact locations. Keefe seated on the throne, Lady Gisela near him, Tam in the middle of the Hall, Glimmer nearby, her unconscious teammates, and a bunch of dwarves, 32 in total, two of them were underground. Then, she tugged her core energy and stretched multiple strong hands with telekinesis slamming all the dwarves and enemies to the ground. She broke free after the dwarf holding her slammed to the ground and she got up. She concentrated more to keep her many telekinetic hands holding restraining them. She levitated quickly directly under the ceiling to get a better of view of the scene. She concentrated on the available faint light and amplified it to trigger night vision. Everything happened so fast. Gisela stared in disbelief around her trying to comprehend what's holding her, even Keefe seemed so confused what and kept looking around, not noticing that she levitated in the first place. All of these quick actions should have been overwhelming, surprisingly, she didn't even break a sweat and felt everything she did came flawlessly.

The two elves in her memory was the Forkle twin, giving her an advice for emergencies that would trigger in such conditions. They planted this memory in her brain while the two of them are present to add significance to the speech. She understood their words clearly now. She sets her limits! She can decide to break them!. On that note, a thought came to her mind, who said enhancing should supply energy? Why can't she absorb energy and store it? Who even said enhancing should require physical contact? Sophie concentrated on the three telekinetic hands holding Gisela, Glimmer and Tam. She imagined them to be real hands with skin and flesh. Connecting them to the thread reaching to her energy reservoir. At first, she started to enhance and energy starting pouring out, however, she resolved her will and concentrated to change the direction of the enhancing energy current. She withdrew their energy.

Tam tried to stretch his hands and call for the shadows, he tried to catch his breath after he strained himself so hard.

"Don't try it! You don't have enough energy" Sophie said boldly. Everyone stared at her with disbelief. "What's this!? What ability did you use to pull this out!?" Lady Gisela cried. "Telekinesis" said Sophie as she pointed to her stretched arms with her face.

"I can't feel the light! What's this!? What did you do to my ability!?" cried Glimmer. "I withdrew your energy using reverse enhancing" said Sophie with confidence. "Reverse enhancing!? nothing as such exists!" shouted lady Gisela. Sophie didn't respond and focused on feeling the thoughts of the surrounding area. All the dwarves in the Grand Hall were restrained, however, more of them were underground, they would strike at any moment. King Enki appeared to be gone faraway. She started transmitted deafening noise waves to the dwarves minds underground to restrain their ability of coherent thinking and action. They appeared to be in pain and couldn't move for now, it would take one minute for them to drop unconscious form the strain.

Sophie slowly landed while keeping her arms stretched. She then addressed Glimmer, forcing her to stand using her stretched telekinetic hands. She transmitted deafening noise to her brain for a fraction of a second and Glimmer screamed from the sudden pain covering her head. "Unseal the bonds on Tam's wrists. If you didn't, I will make you suffer like this until you pass out". Glimmer immediately grabbed Tam's wrists and tried to use her ability to unseal them but couldn't. Sophie enhanced Glimmer using her physical hand to give some of the energy back. Glimmer used her ability as a Flasher to break Tam's bonds. Sophie checked Tam's thoughts immediately to see if his free will have returned completely, then she let him free.

Sophie immediately grabbed Glimmer's wrists and devoured her energy again. "Restrain her with Shadowflux bonds." Sophie said. Tam did as Sophie said-eyes wide from amazement-as Sophie addressed Lady Gisela.

"Well now. I don't think you have any way to get out of this. I'm confident I can keep you confined until I throw you with my own hands into Exile. It's all over for you. We can finish this here and now. However, my friends in the marketplace need help, so we would finish this later".

"You're more incredible than I thought. It's pathetic that you're in the losers team. But know for sure that I would always win in the end."

Sophie knocked all the dwarves and Gisela unconscious using deafening transmission, Gisela's screams were a little bit satisfying. Then, she transmitted waves of attention to her unconscious teammates slamming them to reality. She didn't understand this new type of transmission and couldn't comprehend it. But she surprisingly knew everything she had to do. Keefe -staring in awe mouth slack- got up from the throne and looked at Sophie. "Sophie.. this.. was.. INCREDIBLE. IT MIGHT BE COOLEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. HOW DID YOU DO THAT!? HOW DID YOU MAKE MY MOM SCREAM!? HOW DID YOU RESTRAIN A BUNCH OF DWARVES BY TELEKINESIS!? HOW DID YOU WAKE THEM UP!?".
"I'll explain to all of you later, right now, our friends need our help. Let's go to the marketplace. Don't worry about Gisela and the dwarves. They won't wake up before 15 minutes. This is sufficient for us. And if they do wakeup, I'll know. I would check on them regularly. And I would knock them out again of necessary."

All her friends stared at her in disbelief. Not only she used incredible powers, but her attitude have changed completely. She gained so much confidence she was almost unrecognizable, she didn't even recognize herself. Right now, she focused on one distant goal, change. And appropriate change wouldn't come unless the disturbance of the Neverseen was eliminated. She committed her resolve. The words still echoing in her mind "stretch your wings infinitely".

WHo do you think is the Neverseens Technopath?

Not sure if we've even been introduced to many, but I've been rereading and I noticed this during the meeting with Trix in Stellarlune, he says this when talking about the ripple:

"“She doesn’t need to be. She stole the modified Spyball our

Technopath made for Fintan."

Curious as to who this may be? I highly doubt its Dex (but that would be a WILD plot twist) and given Tinker's reaction to explosives I doubt its her but I can't even think of many others so..

This is gonna be so unwelcomed ;-; please don't hate me for this

I really hope this is a safe space. see i get sophie but at the same time, i sometimes DONT like her ;-;... theres this stupid thing she does: everytime she sees idk bruises or just ANYTHING triggering, it could be a place or item or freaking grass but she just starts thinking about every bad thing that's happened to her or her friends that she's seen. like ok Im not saying/describing this too great at all.. oh but basically she's just trauma dumping?? yk like in a FEEL BAD FOR ME IVE BEEN THRU HELL kinda way, and she does this at least half of the time in the book. like i get it man. what's the point of repeating it. it just makes me lose respect for her.

I KNOW. she's a kid yea yea but. cmon there's gotta be better ways to spend words than on reminiscing on the past, like girl don't u want revenge?? stop thinking and start doing frfr. which she finally realizes mind you after NINE BOOKS. I swear every book is just one big battle and the rest of it is just thinking about that big battle and every injury and loss that came with it.

This is why they lowk have gotten NOWHERE w the neverseen bro say what u want gisela js getting her shat DONEE. i hope shannon does this on purpose (the trauma dumping) bc sometimes readers start the series at a random book ;-; so they don't know context but tbh they weird for that js start from 1 ;-;. sorry i kinda ranted but does anyone ELSE feel this way or am i alone i have a good feeling i might js be alone on this ;-; it's ok share ur thoughts i wanna see other perspective s on this bc maybe im just a hater ;P

What is one plot inconstancy or plot hole in KOTLC that always bugs you?

Mine will forever me the Neutral Territories and crime. The Council says they monitor everyone, but they don't. How do we know this? In Neverseen/end of Everblaze Sophie and her friends cut off their registry pendants, and we later find out that other banished don't have registry pendants. So, by that logic, there could be whole families of unregistered and unknown elves living in the neutral territories, who's parents or grandparents were banished.

Which leads me to my second point. Crime. If there is a whole chunk of the world where no one rules, why isn't it a huge crime magnet? Hell, not just crime. Rebels, outcasts, and conspiracy theorists would flock there!

Crime (or lack thereof) in the Lost Cities doesn't make any sense in general.
