How are weekend crowds through the fall season?

I went to KD several times this summer but only on weekdays as I generally hate crowds and long lines. Since this is the last week for weekday operation, are weekend crowds in the fall just as bad as the summer? Are there any dates that are better or worse than others? Thanks!

Traffic Light

I just left the park. The traffic light at the kings dominion exit will not turn green. We sat with many others for a good 20 minutes waiting and hoping. Eventually, it got so backed up and everyone started turning right.

Please be careful, I called the non emergency number and they’re dispatching an officer to the area as we speak.

Also, the AC is still out in the park. I talked to staff and they said a part in planet snoopy caved in and messed up one of the lines. They’ve been working on it all week, and have no idea when it’ll be back up. Flight of fear is a sweatshop. Twisted Timbers went down twice. One because of weather and the second time people had to be evacuated.

Hey, atleast Pantherian is open!

Halloween admission this year

Do 2026 Gold pass members need to pay anything extra for the Halloween stuff (mazes etc) this season? I'm seeing indications that these are add-ons but I vaguely recall then advertising Gold passes to include this.

You need a law degree to parse the 2027 pass options

I have a current 2026 Gold/all parks (Kings Dominion home park) but planning a trip to Cedar Point next month, and likely won't be able to get to KD before that. So I think I can re-up for 2027 as Prestige with CP as my "home" park.

I know that the "perks" are only valid at your home park, but the bring-a-friend vouchers: good for any park or just "home"?

What about the photo pass? From KD: "Capture a season of memories with unlimited digital park photos when you add All Season FunPix to your season pass or membership! Get all your Kings Dominion professional photos in your digital library for every visit the rest of this season and all of 2027. All Season Photo benefits are valid at participating parks based on pass admission." So I think the photo pass works wherever you scan in with your pass but they make it a little abstruse.

Similarly for the drink plans: "All Season Drink Plan benefits are valid at participating parks based on pass admission." So I think this implies that you get your sodas and Icees anywhere you scan in, but again they could be more clear.

For the meals, they actually make it pretty clear that the 20 or 30 meal plans are only good at your home park. Now, this is dumb because it's a fixed number of meals so why do they really care where you use it? But OK at least they clarify exactly where they are valid. But they make you guess a little for the photos and drinks.

Also: membership VS season pass: why would I do a KD "membership" at $260 for 12 months when the 2027 Prestige is $227 and good for through the end of the 2027 season anyway? Just to have the payment plan or am I missing something?

I'm just trying to take my kid to Cedar Point but feels like if I don't do it just right I'm gonna get hosed in some way.

Does KD have a National Roller Coaster Day Shirt?

Anyone at the park? Just picked one up at BGW and really hoping KD has something I can snag during my quick stop for Pantherian love.

Air conditioning down

I haven’t seen this posted yet, but it appears that all interior air-conditioning is down right now. It has been for the past four days.

They say they’re working on it but if you’re coming on a hot day, expecting to get some relief in the VIP area or any of the restaurants, you won’t get that.

I’m still so impressed with how :-) and helpful the employees are.

Update:
The following has AC (based on what I experienced)
Fountains and floats
Firehouse bbq
Bathrooms

Is the waterpark worth it on a rainy day?

KD is a five hour drive from where I am and I really want to hit the waterpark before it closes for the season but is it worth it on a cloudy day? Haven’t been in YEARS so I’m not sure what rides would be closed down anymore due to potential rain and I’m most likely gonna opt out of fast pass since it’s on a Sunday

Renewal or new pass purchase?

If I own a silver pass this year and want to purchase a gold pass for next year, is that considered a renewal or a new pass? Thanks.

Season dining plan changes have a limit now

Anyone notice there's now a hard cap now to the dining pass?

Maximum of twenty uses total for the first tier, then thirty for the second.. Only the super expensive all park dining gets unlimited now.

Gotta get every penny out or us, huh.

Kings Dominion - Lacking in 2026

We’re in the park right now. I’ve been a patron at the park for 35 years. We now live outside VA but visit every summer when visiting our extended family and my kids (now late teens) have grown up coming here. It’s had its ups and downs and changes in ownership, but we’ve been here for two hours and this is the worst it’s ever been in recent memory. Maybe we were spoiled a few years ago when Cedar Fair started putting money into the parks, the shows were great, they seemed to really care. Now everything has been cut back after all of that progress. There are basically NO drink kiosks where they used to be or open stands to get drinks and it is so hot out. The bathrooms are atrocious, they took away things like the tables in the nice grove outside the Backlot coaster - my parents are 70 now and enjoy sitting there while we ride the attractions in the area. Twisted Timbers wouldn’t even let me put my tiny fanny pack in the free lockers - so I have to rent a giant one? It’s my favorite ride. There were so many good strides made and now it’s going in the opposite direction. It’s sad. I’m going to write to six Flags! Any other things you have noticed are lacking now?

King's Dominion Annual Pass - Best Time To Buy? Better Deal In Winter? Vs. Busch Gardens?

We signed up for the KD annual pass last year and I would say we got our money's worth. The big win was actually the free admission to other parks, and we were able to take advantage of that at Carowinds.

We just got an email about renewing and, no surprise, the price went up and the value went down. Last year's pass included admission to every Six Flags Park in the country, this year it only includes select locations.

Our current passes expire at the end of the year, so I don't really see the sense in renewing now, if we do end up renewing at all.

My question to folks who have done this dance before ... will there be a better offer in the fall/winter? Is there a way to get a better discount through another site? Or any way to improve the pricing at Busch Gardens?

Thank you!

The Heat

I’m visiting from Toronto, and am planning on hitting up King’s Dominion tomorrow. I’m a bit scared of the heat and its impact at the park tomorrow. Are there lots of shaded areas? Queues inside/shaded?
Thanks in advance!

Kings Dominion and Six Flags doing away with EZ pay starting 2027, now pay in full or membership. SMH Six Flags

They stated the pre sale of the 2027 passes, so I was going to renew for next year but I noticed it never promoted a ez pay option like usual. Only wanted me to pay full price. So I called Kings Dominion and they told me that they dont offer ez pay any long and it’s being replaced with the membership. Which don’t expire and is continuous. And add ons like meal plans and such can’t be added to the membership as its only for the season pass. To me that’s wrong because now its more expensive this way and well over $89 sale price when we could use ez pay and pay for 12 months but now its like a subscription fee every month and more expensive even in the off season. Oh and you can’t renew your old pass if your want a membership now as it will give you a new pass.

The Math Isn't Mathing

What am I missing here? The "sale" has Prestige at $20/month + an initial $20 fee. That would put it at $260 + I assume the roughly $10 processing fee and tax.

But just buying it on its own is $238.99 out the door, renewal or new.

Bag/Locker question

Making my first trip to Kings Dominion next week, and have seen conflicting things about the locker situation so I wanted to clarify.

Are there places to store any bags/water bottles at the station of the rides? And if not are the lockers paid for or free? I believe I saw that one ride provides free lockers.

I have cargo shorts so most of my belongings will go in there, but it’s always nice to know in advance

Premium dining pass still valid?

Hi all.

Two weeks ago I bought a day premium dining pass for $49 (super worth it)

I added it to my account and used it.

I’m still seeing it in my account as an active pass. Did it maybe not properly swipe? They gave me a wristband for the day but maybe it didn’t link or something?

IS the fast pass worth it

I will be going to Kings Dominion this weekend on Saturday, and we are debating getting the Fast Lane Pass. Is it worth it? How are crowd lines normally on a weekend in this part of the summer
