Does the DK series have a shield for the loader valve? Or does that come with the 3rd function kit? Got home about 11:30pm after a 14hr drive trailering it from the dealer and just noticed there’s no shield for the loader valve. Is this normal?
I don't want to feel stupid and call the dealer in a panic, but I was hoping you guys could answer a few questions for me.
Obviously the warm up is super important, especially during the winter.. does everyone idle their tractors before shutting it off for a few minutes? I'm also going easy on it for the break in period and not doing too much work..
It stalled on me while backing up, then didnt want to restart.. my neighbour told me his doesn't like to restart with a load on the hydraulics.. so I let it sit a little bit and took the load off and it fired up.. I used it another hour and it was perfectly fine.. I'm going to mention it to the dealer.. but, are there any stupid things that it could be that caused it to stall?
I've never had diesel equipment before.. so I just want to make sure the sounds are normal (its a lot of money for me,.so I'm over analyzing every sound) the HST is SUPER whiny... the motor sounds really... clacky at idle.. and when I push the pedal, it sounds like there's an air noise from the rear.. but it drives/lifts/etc totally fine. The motor also smooths out above idle. I did check all fluids.
Last question.. it has a linked pedal.. so, they told me I could just leave it at idle while driving around (the pedal raises the RPM when it's engaged).. but if I'm not doing heavy loader work.. is it fine to use the loader at idle? Or should I always manually raise the RPM up for loader work.
I'm a complete tractor newbie, but I've spent hundreds of hours watching videos, visiting dealerships, etc.
I really liked the Kioti dealer I visited and they've got great reviews from the people around me. I originally went in looking at a CX series, but after driving it felt a bit smaller than I want and the loader control was right against my knee which wasn't super comfortable. I drove a few other models that they have on the lot and I really liked the CK2620, it felt great and seemed like it had a lot more capability for what I want. I ended up basically going to buy the opposite of what I thought I originally wanted (CX series open station with backhoe) and ended up with a CK series with a cab (and spent basically double my budget). I initially found it super hard to justify the price increase of the cab (10K), since the cold really doesn't bother me for snow removal, but a lot of the forest work I want to do would probably involve a ton of bugs.. so the cab seems like a good idea.. plus the AC seemed nice on my test. Has anyone bought the cab and regretted it? I'll be doing a bunch of snow clearing, making trails in the forest, lots of dirt moving, tons of brush clearing around the property and probably some brush hogging.
Seeing that I'm brand new to tractors, I'm not totally sure on what I should be asking before we finalize the purchase tomorrow morning. I know it's already got a rear remote, pedal link, front third function (I also told them I want a grapple), floor mat, R14 tires (which is what I wanted)
What should I be buying in terms of consumables? (shear pins for PTO?). Should I have them fill the tires prior to me picking it up?
Do tractors come with a PTO shaft? Or is it that more of a per attachment thing.
Other than straight diesel, should I be running any additives? The dealer already recommended the 911 diesel stuff if the fuel gels. It will be stored in a cold barn, but has power to plug in the block heater.
The deal we negotiated has a bucket, grapple and forks. Is there anything else that's a must have? My neighbour has basically every attachment known to man that I can borrow.
The CK series seems like a very capable tractor for the size. The dealer did mention front vs rear snowblowers.. For now I'd probably just use the bucket, but in my research it doesn't seem like the CK has a mid PTO factory. Are most people happy using the bucket? My neighbour has a DK and has a rear mount snowblower that I don't think I've ever seen him use, he always clears the driveways with the bucket and has no issue.
I do plan on ordering a Bxpanded piranha bar as well for the bucket, a grille guard insert since I'm going to be doing a bunch of brush moving and maybe the window armour sheets for brush/forest work.
Any general advice or anything would be great.
